Yeah probably depends on what part of your city is covered by 2600 and 800 you'll have partial 4g coverage. configure the correct APN settings from your carrier on the phone as well. you can also select "prefer 3g" mode in MiUi to have it use primarily the 3G bands.

My trusty Xperia Z1 finally kicked the bucket after 3 years of loyal services.

I'm in the market for something new, but i'm on a budget. Is it even remotely possible to find something equivalent under 200$ ?

I'm in Yurop so I don't know if that's a factor for purchase or not.

Here are the ideal characteristics that my new phone would have:

Currently have a Motorola moto X pure running bone stock everything. I was going to use full phone/storage encryption but decided I'd ask here first. Before I go through the process of encrypting everything, I was considering root, recovery, and Cyanogenmod. Does full phone encryption play nice with custom recovery/rom/root? Being fully unlocked is part of why I got this phone as opposed to say a locked down Note4/5/ soon to be 7.

First day with Xiaomi Mi Max, not trying to save power. I'm pretty sure that reviewers these days think that the SOT on pic related is 'decent' with only 5 percent left. Meanwhile I still have like 8 hours of SOT left.

I really like my OnePlus3.
I ran into two issues with it however, but they're nothing major, and might not even be related to the phone, but rather the software.

1. Phone reboots for a short while sometimes late at night.
Nothing really happens, it just shuts down, starts back up.
I think some orange text popped up on the screen for a short while when I was awake and near it the one time I saw it happen...

2. I can't hear the caller if the call popup notification shows up when listening to media
Once I switch to speaker+back I can hear them just fine, but it's kinda weird.

I am wanting a change from my Moto G3 which has been my all time favourite phone.

I use my phone mostly for navigation while driving, music, photos, geocahing and browsing the internet while away from laptop.

Main feature that has attracted me is the figerprint scanner and the fact the g4 still has removable storage.

Upset over lack of waterproof and the removal of the compass. The latter of which I am worried will affect navigation while driving/geocaching/pokemon go.

Actually they are. Geekbench is the best synthetic benchmark for phones out there. It's the CPU passmark of phones.

Anyway there are 3 main categories for phone SoCs right now: entry-level, better than iPhone 6 plus, and performance. The SD 410, E 5433, and E 8890 represent those categories respectively with each one being about 2X as fast as the last SoC.

The SoC on a phone is what mainly determines performance of apps and whatnot. You should steer clear of snapdragon especially after the better than iPhone 6 plus range as they tend to overheat quickly after a few minutes of use.

It's a really good phone. Mine came in about three days ago, I got it in gold. It looks gorgeous. The fingerprint scanner is a little bit insensitive, but still has utility. The snapdragon SOC is excellent though. Very fast-- I've had no issues so far with overheating or anything like that. It's probably the best phone I've ever owned, especially for the price.

Your best bet is to get the boost base plan with auto-reboost ($30/month) and buy additional high speed data if you need it ($10/2GB). After a month or two average how much data you used and if you used too much theb get the $55/month unlimited high speed data plan else get one of the cheaper plans.

Personally I just went balls out and got the unlimited high speed data plan and called it a day.

My S5 is shitting on me, looking for a new phone. I live in burgerland and I'm looking for:

-decent/good battery life
-no softkeys (not a dealbreaker but strongly not preferred)

I've been looking and currently am torn between the Nexus 5X, Redmi Note 3, and Moto X Pure. The first and last have softkeys and the first is a little pricier, so I'm hesitant to include them. I've never used a chinkphone before and am a little concerned about the lack of 4G LTE support in the US for Xiaomi phones. Also been looking at the S7/Edge but that price tag, plus the Note seems to be lackluster and not worth the extra money.

Pablo here, dont bother with that one, i got my Redmi Note 3 Pro from gearbest for 4800 MXN with no additional shipping costs, getting a 1080p/3 GB ram smartphone with SD slot for that price is practically a steal since every single carrier here is still asking for 3000+ MXN for the most basic phone with a sub 720p screen and 1 GB of ram at best, and they dont even list the specs anymore, only the size and how many megapixels the camera has to jew you into buying a shit phone, and i doubt you have 25,000 MXN to burn on a S7E.

Im on the same road as you. Except im stuck with a note 4. But let me tell you this. It took a long ass time to get this rooted and the bootloader unlocked. I have an s7 rom snd touchwiz has definitely improved but small things are annoying as fuck if you don't have root and xposed. I heard the at&t version of the note 7 got rooted but verizon will fuck you hard. I suggest the new nexus coming up, the htc 10, or the moto droid z force if you can stand not having a headphone jack.
