Recently installed awesomewm on my desktop, everything is normal, except Konsole always runs in floating mode, whether I launch it from dmenu or from cmd return.

I run the same rc.lua at work and this doesn't happen.

I even appended

and restarted awesome, still happening.

Apparently I needed to set konsole to full screen mode. Mystery solved.

I'm using a Motorola g3 and playing music via Poweramp. But whenever I play a webm with sound on clover (4chan app) my music will stop until I manually turn it back on. Is there a way to keep the music playing and the the webm audio or even disable webm audio and keep the music?

thinking of buying a micro usb flash drive for my laptop (that doesn't have a HDD or SSD at the moment) and putting linux on it; I know it would boot, now i'm at the hard part: deciding which linux I want to install.

I more-or-less just want to use it for Firefox, Libreoffice, PS3 Media Server, and some programming. I want to use a linux with a desktop environment that is "consumer" (retard) friendly.

Elementary OS seems nice, only downside to that is:

The first two being reasonable, but I can't figure out (in a VM) how to set it so the file manager that opens from the desktop is the same file manager elementary shipped with. hey guys i need help

i used vroot (or iroot now?) to try root my phone

i'm pretty sure it did nothing except install a bunch of chinese shit apps on my phone.

i got rid of most of them just by doing a factory reset.

but 'kingroot' still stays. i've tried an app designed to remove it called SuperSu Me-Pro but it just hangs at 'processing please wait'

In LibreOffice Base, is there any way to edit a View after you create it? I can't find any way to get back to the wizard or SQL view. I can only bring up the resulting table, and all the edit buttons on it are are grayed out.

Sometimes I get these random moments where the TV goes black for a second, goes back again to normal but the mouse feels "heavy", goes black again for a second, and then finally comes back to normal operation. Happens when I'm browsing the web although I've never been able to pinpoint an exact location or cause. Seems random.

Would this be,

Don't install Arch if you have 0 experience with Linux because it's a fun distro, ideally find someone in your social circle or join a local LUG, then choose a distro based on what distro is used by some "guru" you know, so he could help you out with something

They were. In the last 5 years specifically CPUs have reached the point that their new improvements aren't really a draw to normies anymore. You can surf the web on a sub i3 and not notice the difference most days. And even for mid-level stuff the advancements don't matter as much as they used to. So intel has been pouring a ton of resources into improving their iGPUs since nahelem. I doubt you're going to get anywhere. It's probably not your phone that's the problem, it's the network connection. Phone companies don't like you running alternative kinds of network traffic like gaming or torrents, so they'll limit the ports and protocols available. Best you could do would be to run a vpn or proxy with port forwarding, and that would probably introduce more latency than you would be comfortable with.

I recently started using i3 WM, and so far, I'm really enjoying how it's impacted my workflow, but I have one major gripe: mainly that even though I use a colemak keyboard, the hotkeys are referenced to their positions on qwerty. So I have to remember where a certain key is on qwerty before hitting the hotkey, and it's getting confusing.

I am playing an old game (Everquest) and I want a program that can start a time for 10 seconds and then play a sound after it has elapsed. I have conditions that need to be met though:

1) global hotkey that doesn't take focus away from main window (no popups)

Is Freesync worth it lads? I've been tossing up between a freesync monitor and an IPS monitor for a little while now. The freesync one is $50 (NZD) cheaper and slightly smaller, which fits my needs more than a larger monitor. The letters are like a shorthand representing the drive for users and programs to work with, kind of like how you type names into browsers to get websites instead of needing to know IP numbers. Each partition has a long number paired to it, and that's what the system recognizes. You can change the letters associated with most drives easily in disk management, but if you've made any shortcuts you need to remember to change those as well. A and B used to be associated with floppy drives the way D is still usually assigned to cd/dvd by default, so C is still where windows goes because it would be counterproductive to change the default now. You can give your SSD any unoccupied letter you want, or even assign multiple letters to multiple partitions on it.

1440p is perfectly fine, it's what I use on my laptop now. The only clarity intensive things I would come across are surveillance photos taken by some of our contractors, and since they're predominately ex-cops, technology like digital cameras is still fairly difficult to master for them.

Overall budget for the desktop and the two monitors, I would like to keep under $1500, but my two bosses both sport these fancy Macs that can't be anything less than $2500 so I'm not super worried about going over a couple hundo
