Pretty much, just get the Axon 7 instead.

No, beats the Axon 7 in almost every section except screen and audio quality.

I really wish there a phone that worked on Sprint (RingPlus) with a high quality DAC/amp built in that wasn't the overly marked up HTC 10.

It looks like the Axon 7 is a no-go on Sprint, sadly, so the only things I can hope is HTC bringing over some of the features from the HTC 10 in this regard to the Nexus devices or hope the V20 (assuming it continues the audio quality trend) actually has a Sprint variant this time around...

I could buy a T-Mobile V10 for very cheap and use it on a 20/month 2GB data only plan, but that doesn't compare to 1.5GB free every month... still, paying 250 and paying 20 bucks a month will take some time to compare to paying 599 USD upfront on an HTC 10. I could just shell for the Axon 7 at that point... Decisions are annoying.

>A notable aspect of this device, especially over the OnePlus 2, is that it does not throttle with prolonged usage, nor does it get noticeably warm. This is one of the more thermal-efficient devices in recent memory, closely resembling the efficiency of the Note5 and ZenFone 2 during day-to-day usage (they sported some of the most interesting processors of 2015, too). It’s also notably better for intensive usage than other Snapdragon 820 devices like the HTC 10 and the LG G5, and OnePlus managed to go from one of the least pleasing devices for real-world usage to one of the best.

However the Exynos does run a bit better than the SD 820 on Sammy phones

Is there any phone around 200$ which performs well and doesn't overheat?

>>55934097
Then get Z3 Compact.

It's actually better. SD 810 in Z5c lags, so the real performance is close to Z3c. The camera in Z5c is faulty, the fingerprint scanner performs terribly, the battery is just 'okay' (while Z3c is well known for really excellent battery life), and the rest is at similar level.

Xperia Z5 family sucks balls, is incredibly overpriced and overrated.

Stupid question but worth asking I guess.

I don't like apple stuff. had an iphone for ages and since it kept working I never bought a new one then Apple started fucking me over and I can't even download shit like google authenticator because my OS is not longer supported.

I don't like android phones or windows phones. Is there any linux based phone on the market? Like you know the actual OS running on decent tier hardware that can also make calls and take pictures?

I would totally go for something like a Ubuntu phone or whatever the fuck if it existed.
>>

>>
>>55936238
Isn't it a glorified OP3? If you want design, they both look very similar. Performance wise, I'd just go with the OP, sure they're both pretty clean in terms of OS, but one is significantly cheaper than the other.

z3 missing part.jpg

I recently got an Xperia Z3 with some issues as a gift from a friend who upgraded. I'm trying to repair the phone the best I can but I'm missing some stuff.

The first and major issue was the rear camera. I got a replacement and it's now working fine, despite the fact that it overheats quite easily but I've found that this phone so far has been quite hot. Maybe it's just mine though.

Now what's tricking me is the GPS. I simply can't get a lock on a satellite at all. I managed to for some brief minutes yesterday morning but never again no matter what. The gps sensor is present and it's detected by hardware monitoring apps. When I opened it to replace the camera I noticed the internals looked a bit different from what I've seen on videos. It's missing pic related.

As you can see, this plastic thing clearly has metal connectors which span throughout it's length. On the phone's PCB there are two metal bumps that are clearly supposed to connect to it's underside on rightmost image.

Now, I've tried googling around trying to find a place where I could buy this but nothing came up (suggestions are appreciated). However, I was thinking, just how hard would it be to improvise an antenna of my own for this thing, provided it's ACTUALLY the GPS antenna I think this might be missing?

Would really appreciate some ideas cause the rest of the phone is working really well and I'm quite pleased with it's performance.

Any ideas, /g/?

S7E right? IIRC it can't be rooted nor the bootloader be unlocked yet so the bloatware stays but for getting rid of touchjizz you can use Nova Launcher Prime and Goodlock with an icon pack and wallpaper of your choosing, use either Firefox or Naked Browser and forget about the stock one and Chrome, for apps there's F-Droid, AdAway, Greenify, Titanium Backup, Root Explorer, MX Player Pro (don't use anything else for videos, this one is the absolute best), PowerAmp (subjective, i consider it the Foobar of android but others prefer BlackPlayer and Apollo) and Clover (4chan app).

>>
>>55936145
> I´m not that into chinkphones
Well, OP3 IS a chinkphone, but quite decent at that, but it just depends on what you're looking for.

The lack of SD slot, 1080p screen and bad audio don't tickle me much because: 64 GB is more than enough for me (with cloud storage options available and all), I watch most of my media on PC / TV + kodi and I usually don't listen to music without headphones (where apparently the OP3 is better than S7).

Initially I was looking for a phone with a decent camera and after watching a tonshit of comparisons I decided the OP3 is decent enough here (was looking for the 5x at first, but I think it's not going to be very usable in 2-3 years). The grainy, noisy night photos are absolute shit though.

My only concern is, that I heard you cant record a video in 1080p with 60fps and neither can you watch a youtube video in the same quality (just 60fps with 480p).

Run 2 benches consecutively and you get a lower score with the 2nd run.

And the if each more run, your score decreases, it is also applied to gaming.
With time the performance will drop noticeably.

Going to a Note 7 from a Note 4 or 5 is retarded. Save your money!

>have Note 4
>extended 10ah ZL battery
>custom kernel for extended batteries to circumvent fixed fuel gauge
>rooted, debloated, and optimized memory parameters
>Stock 5.1.1, custom Xposed framework, xprivacy, GPS spoof, adblock, etc.
>TWRP w/monthly backups
Couldn't be happier.

Why would I buy a Note 7 when it provides literally nothing of the above?
It's essentially locked down with no prospects of a stable root (there isn't even a stable root for the note 5 due to an intentional lack of documentation), no removable battery (so you're either stuck with a slow as fuck portable charger when on the go or get a new phone 2 years down the road).
Just a better camera and an better SoC (which is negligible irl/for my uses). Faster flash storage as well but I doubt it's significant in terms of irl usage. Not worth it. I'll probably get the next iteration of the LG Stylo next year hopefully.

Why is Samsung so adamant in preventing a proper root/documentation past the Note 4? Why did they remove the removable battery? inb4 muh water-resistant cert (see Z3, S5, etc.)/thinness (literally a fraction of a millimeter thinner).

Some lady was selling a Nexus 5x on a local Chicago site. She didn't list any details besides it being an open box item. She was asking $300 for it but she accepted my offer for $180.

Went and got the phone from her and it was legit. A Nexus 5x NEVER TOUCHED (still had all the security tape on the accessories and the screen protector still its original packaging as well.

Phone had never ever been used. The IMEI sticker was still on the back of the phone.

Anyways I wasn't sure what model it was nor did I ask. For $180 I was pleased with the 16gig or 32gig model. Well, turns out, after looking on the bottom of the box, it's the 32gig INTERNATIONAL model. Meaning it will not work on some networks in America?

I put my girlfriend's T-Mobile nano-sim in it and it worked just fine. Was getting LTE speeds so I imagine everything will be okay. But I use ATT and I haven't went and gotten a nano sim yet for it. I'm still using my LG G2 which uses a micro sim. If my ATT service won't work on this phone I'll just move to T-Mobile but yeah.

Afaik, the youtube problem can be solved if you either use a different youtube client (NewPipe) or spoof your phone model to nexus 5x or some other phone that has been whitelisted by youtube for 60fps 1080p.

The camera thing is a software issue too, since the hardware is capable of 1080p60fps recording (you can use other apps).

Hey /g/,

If I'm upgrading from a 1st gen Moto G what should I be looking at? I honestly can't find anything remotely similar now, except maybe the Nexus 5X.

I know there is a shitton of good value phones out there, including the Moto G4, Huawei stuff etc... but I really liked getting updates and having a working uncluttered stock phone.

Is the 5X worth it?
>>
What do you guys think about the huawei p9?
>>
>>55947984
3. But coming from a 4'7 screen this one looks huge.

>>55947996
holy fuck really?
>>
Fuck, why does the V10 have to be so big?
>>
>>55948017
Yeah, if you pair both phones together you'll be able to share your contacts easily. Not positive about call and SMS logs but anything is possible.
>>
what's a good 350-400 (i'd prefer less than 400) phone that will last me for the next 3 years?

i'm looking at moto g4 plus and lg g4

what i want: micro sd, 3 gigs ram, a decent camera and battery life. no heating (i heard motorola heats up a lot) is a plus
also removable battery would be good and the plastic back side is a plus as well (i dislike the metal/glass)
i'd use it for calls, fb/instagram, viber, snapchat, etc; sometimes youtube and often music; no gaming

am in europe if it means anything

oh and 1 more thing, how reliable are sellers on ebay? the sellers from hong kong mostly have free shipping and thats cool, but can i expect the phone to be an original

Im considering the Lenovo Vibe Shot anyone have any good/bad experiences with it?

I know its a peculiar phone to be considering but I live in Iceland and nothing not CE certified may be imported, so smartphone options are tightly restricted to non-chink phones
>>
>>55948059
doesnt seem to work or have any option to do that.
i don't care about contacts, mostly about calls and txts.
>>
G4 vs 5X

What do I buy?
>>
This redmi 3 is a real piece of shit guys thank you. Only been 3 months and I'm getting screen discoloration sometimes and the screen will become severely oversaturated for some reason also I dropped it today with a case on and the volume button is fucked up now (still works but the side back panel is like coming off) I'm switching back to my moto x pure thanks chink reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
>>
>>55946404
I guess you did okay.
But why did you move from the iPhone 6 to the Pure?
>>
>>5593208

It's not. Below that thing is the motherboard's PCB and below that is the speaker. It's really just a plastic piece with two metal stripes. The Z3 has frontal speakers, that part is on its back, so judging by the fact that the GPS is the only thing that is not working despite the sensor being present and active, I'm guessing it's the antenna or something. Sadly, I can't find that specific part listed anywhere.

For Android? There are good choices for each price range. There are at least 2-3 viable phones every time you add $100 to your budget

The only weak spot I can see is 4.3 to 4.7 inch range, there is nothing great besides a Z3C
>>
Axon 7 or wait for Marlin?
>>
>>55948567
any size is alright as long as its not too big so max 5'7ish and budget is 500$ i only care for the phone not lagging all the time and a good camera so the more i save the better
>>
UMI phones any good?
>>
>>55947203
2016 is a good year,

Oneplus 3 is the best choice.
>>
>>55948082
If you don't want the Oneplus 3, an older flagship like the Galaxy S5 or LG G4 or G3 would serve you well.

Sellers on eBay are OK, bought about 30 items in the last 5 years and only bad experience is cheap controller that never arrived where I didn't get a refund.
>>
>>55948733
It doesn't have a micro sd slot or a 1440p screen though. In addition to that it has dogshit battery life and the low res screen is tainted piss yellow.

Axon 7 is a much better choice.
>>
Nexus 6p or OnePlus 3?
>>
>>55948792
Both are shit choices. Get a ZTE Axon 7 instead.
>>
>>55948791
>1440p screen
Why does that matter so much? Honestly.
>>
>>55947999
Underwhelming battery life and only 2 gigs of RAM, but a really good buy if you can get it in the 200-250€/$ range.

Best part about it are the quick updates and the god-tier camera.

Guys, how into avoiding DHL vat (brokage) when ordering from China to EU?
>>
>>55948791
I have one and I love it. Screen looks good to me, battery gets me though the day but the best part about it...?

This thing flies! Coming from a S5 with Touchlag (after two years of updates), it's a breath of fresh air.
>>55948792
Both are great, don't fall for the Axon meme :)

Thanks! Sorry for my ignorance, can I count on Google to keep updating a Nexus phone past their published end-dates or they don't really bother?

I mean 2017 sept is just one year from now...
>>
>buying any new phone that isn't s7 edge or note 7

Fucking plebs.
>>
>>55948942
If I understand it correctly, the 2017 Sept date is just so they can play it safe and to cover themselves. If the past is anything to go by, you should be safe til at least end 2018.
>>
>>55947959
Moto G4 family, Moto X Force, Moto Z family, I'd rather just wait for the next Motorola phone though, iirc even the strongest one had merely 3 GB ram and the faulty snapdragon.

>I have a few issues overall with the UI experience on the Axon. For starters, the stock DPI is awful. The phone comes out of the box set to 640 DPI on a 5.5 inch QHD screen. Here ZTE is joining LG in the ridiculous decision of wasting a big beautiful display. What on earth is the point in providing a wonderful dense display and making all the UI elements cartoonishly big?

Probably. I can't give a flying fuck about the resolution of tiny screens above 1080p. Posting a zoomed in picture is bit retarded, I wasn't questioning the number of pixels, but whether it even matters to a human eye.

Even this faggot understand 1440p is useless now.

He was pushing the pixel meme like crazy two years ago, but now his two 'daily drivers' (who came up with this retarded word?) are an iPhone and a OP3, both with 1080p screens.

Just admit it, you can't tell the difference at a normal viewing distance.

B-but, muh privacy.
>>
>>55949192
There is a difference, albeit somewhat small. The biggest improvement on a 1440p screen is reading books.

>>55949202
You know he's just being paid to shill right? irl he's an average nigger with no understanding of technology whatsoever.

Anyway personally I can vouch that there is a difference going from 1080p to 1440p on a phone. I recently upgrade to a Note 4 from a Note 3 and I could tell text looked smoother and clearer.

Which one is better, Galaxy note 4 or 7? 7 is the latest but they always remove features dont they? Why should i get 7 over 4?

I need a secondary LTE phone to use as a portable shitposting machine (Heavy web browsing, YT, 4chan,...), music player and most of the time being a hotspot for around 100 Euro. I don't care if it's used or not.

Only places I can use since I'm a Slavshit where Amazon nor eBay ships to

English version of the eshop in my country: https://www.alzashop.com/sim-free-mobile-phones/18843445.htm

used stuff where I can only buy from since nothing else like that exists in my country:

Better performance, more RAM, bigger battery, and better camera.

Though in the end the exynos Note 4 is still a good phone and the thinkpad of phones right now.
>>
>>55947703

Thanks. We decided on a 2015 Moto G, we were able to get one for ~€175, well above the initial budget, but it'll last her a long time, so she's fine with it.
