I'll be writing my own firmware, so hopefully I'll counter some of the autism with my own autism.
You can try installing/porting the firmware from Terminus/Diverge keyboards, they have programs with GUI to modify the layout on the fly.

Haven't seen them outside of filcos, but cherry has a new line of switches. They're pink and feel like reds with some thin dampening material at the bottom of the keystroke. And the top, but you won't feel that. Needless to say, they're quite quiet. And fucking pink.

Do you guys use o-rings? I have a bad habit of bottoming out my keys so I feel like reducing the travel time might be beneficial.

The biggest drawback I can see with them is that they could make the keys feel all squishy like rubber domes, but I have no experience with them so that's just my guess.

Anyone here use them? Can you describe what using them is like compared to typing without them?

One of the best 60% boards because it's really a 65%. Dedicated delete and arrow keys are nice because it's the most commonly used keys outside the 60% portion of a keyboard.
Insert key is kinda meh but it's so easy to rebind keys through software that you're sure to find a use for it.

If you know a bit of C (or any programming language, for that matter) and are able to read, you should figure it out in no time. There are guides about that sort of thing, and it isn't hard at all.
If you want a challenge, you can try porting Terminus/Diverge firmware to suit your OLKB board and use their simple GUI remapper.

Thanks for introducing me to the Diverge. I think I'll go for the Diverge TM instead of the memeboards. It shouldn't be too difficult to make a wooden plate for the top and a steel plate for the bottom (to weigh it down), and the firmware is much easier to configure. The price is also a little bit lower, which is a bonus.

It's a shame that they aren't compatible with Matias switches, but I'll live with Zealios.

I'll be building a Planck soon and considered adding white LEDs just for fun.

The stand is Aten CS533 which takes input from the keyboard and sends it via Bluetooth signal to the phone. The stand doesn't have charging abilities and seems to be powered by the battery pack.

Huh, sounds like a shitty situation. If I were you I'd just suck up import costs, but I can understand that you'd want to avoid that with your first mech.

If you care about replacing your keycaps in the future, check if the cm has a standard bottom row and see if you find browns acceptable. Otherwise go with corsair.

CM is better in terms of build quality (unless it's a board with a non-standard bottom row, those cm boards suck ass). But at least in your case corsair has a better selection of switches. I'd probably go with the latter if I were in your situation. Though if you're going to go for browns anyway (I wouldn't) get the CM.

And those "speed" switches are marketing gimmick.

Diverge TM is the best 40% board. It's ortholinear but split into two pieces so you can rotate the halves and still position your hands ergonomically. The firmware is also easily programmable, with a nice GUI configurator.
