Is there an adapter for this SSD?

What are the main disadvantages to a small flash drive (like left in pic related) compared to a regular sized one (like the right one) other than speed?

the tiny ones are great if you plan on leaving it plugged in for a while and rarely have it unplugged from a device. They are a lot easier to lose and don't wok well with keychains, so get the larger one if you plan on carrying it around not plugged in.

They should last about the same time. The only thing I'd be concerned with is if the enclosure design is pleasing and useful to me, and if the read/write speeds are sufficient.

Some are, but maybe there are some super fast ones I don't know about.

The top tier ones with the maximum performance are always full-sized.

Can somebody help my understand the following three lines of x86 assembly?
40112b: 79 44 jns 0x401171

40116f: d2 65 f5 shlb %cl,-0xb(%ebp)
401172: 30 53 e7 xor %dl,-0x19(%ebx)

As you can see the jns instruction jumps to address 0x401171. That address however is the last byte of the instruction at 0x40116f. What will happen during execution? Will it be skipped (or executed as a nop instruction) or is there an instruction encoded as part of some fancy optimization?
I highly doubt there is an instruction there, but jumping to a byte too early just seem wrong to me. This happens multiple times throughout the executable sometimes it's one byte other times two or three bytes early.

Also i assume that the disassembler didn't know the following instruction and i have to replace it manually?
4010cd: da ea (bad)
>>
>>55665987
It depends on what you use them for.
Some people need to carry large project files which used to require carrying hard drives and now only need a small flash drive in a pocket.

Some might need to carry some sort of library and large sizes are often lifechanging.

Also we're discussing the difference between them, so while it may not necessarily be a significant difference in our use of them, it's still worth mentioning.

VLC supposedly has metadata-editing features, right?

If I open a file and change some of them, a "save metadata" button will appear and the metadata will be saved when I close the window (as shown by the new title displayed as the file title), but when I close VLC and reopen it, the file still has the old metadata.

Does VLC only change the metadata for that specific session, or it should change it on the file itself (and somehow it's not working for me)?

Alternatively, is there a decent freeware program for Windows that allows me to do this?

Thanbks in advange.

It should be noted that kmspico has to keep running on your computer, it's not a one and done thing. It basically gets you a 180 day trial of windows and keeps refreshing that trial. Both programs have bad sources, and it would be very difficult to determine if either had trojans in them.

Is it a command? what does it do? because ./configure isn't a command in itself, so what does the ./ do?
>>

A dot slash is a dot followed immediately by a forward slash ( ./ ). It is used in Linux and Unix to execute a compiled program in the current directory.
>>
>>55667400
. is the current directory
if you run "configure" alone it would look for an application in your $PATH

so ./configure runs the "configure" file in the directory you are currently in

>>
>>55667598
As a general rule if you're buying second hand then you want to buy last generation products after the new generation is announced, and preferably a couple weeks after the new generation comes out, idiots selling their high end, 1 year old GPUs or entire systems will sell for cheap. CPUs and the like don't really see a lot of turn over and aren't far off their new counterparts. If you are buying new it can be advantageous to stagger buying parts a couple weeks apart if it means getting deals, but don't be one of those idiots that has a 290 lying round because they still haven't gotten round to buying the rest of the system. New generation parts are cheapest new around a month and a half after parts hit shelves, the bubble of high demand and low supply has had time to stabilize and is a decent distance from the launch of the next generation.

also, ebay and paypal will side with you if you are a buyer and claim you got scammed, no matter what the circumstances are or even if you're lying. It is totally true, look it up.

I just sold an item on ebay and I am still waiting for my money to be released from a holding verification stage, even though I sent it to the guys house more than one week ago and he received it. You don't understand...
You can't use Skylake specific features under other OS, it's locked to 10. Also DirectX12. 7 also has a relatively fucking terrible Task Manager. Honestly I don't understand why do people even praise 7 so much when 8.1 is literally better in ever way (except Metro apps, which are optional anyway). And 10 is even better than 8.1 (except you have to be tech-literate to disable all the telemetry and shit)
And 7 cannot even be installed via USB 3.0 or 3.1. It also has way worse support for SSDs.

Why would he download 8 instead of 8.1???
Also the media creation tool is his only choice.

My old 8800GT has shit thermal tape and gets super hot. I can't seem to find a straight answer on what I should be replacing it with. The thermal tape I can find comes in a bunch of difference thicknesses and I don't have anything capable of measuring how thick the tape on there is right now and it's been squashed by years of pressure anyway.

So, what size thermal tape should I be using on a graphics card for the memory chips, since I have heard you should not use grease on them because the surfaces don't make enough contact.

I really need you help guys.
Problem:
Traffic Shaping with tc (traffic control) from linux.

While I can Shape outgoing traffic, I cannot shape incoming traffic. By shaping i mean "limiting bandwidth".

I found out, that you cannot shape the traffic when its already arrived on the interface. But why you cant hold them back and release it with the wanted data rate?

I also read, that you can "just drop tcp" packets. The congestion algorithm of TCP would make the Sender to slow down the sending rate.

BUT couldnt I just delay the incomming traffic, which would lead to that my ACK packets would send later, what would let the sender think "CONGESTION, I NEED TO SLOW DOWN".

sorry for my broken english. But i need the answer as quick as possible...

thank you guys

>>
>>55670004
Tcp doesn't reason in terms of lateness if it's not late enough to cause a timeout, you would end up having a hiccup bandwith due to timeout algorithms.
Not sending an ack would mean the resize of the congestion window, if you do something that's the equivalent of:
- (bandwith > X)? then drop ack
you will still have hiccup bandwith but wayyy plainer hiccups.
At the same time you could resize the receiving window to limit the bandwith, since if the transfer time is bottlenecked by the RTTT you would end up with a bandwith of about (Rec window)/RTT, because you are receiving a window every rtt; this would help you shape the incoming traffic, i believe.
You would still have the problem of udp traffic.

Would you benefit from improved SSD support and DX12? If yes then go ahead. Just don't forget O&O's ShutUp10 and disable everything except Windows Defender to get rid of the botnets

Also right after it updates go into settings and reset the theme, it carries broken borders and generally shit that doesn't look good mashed together with new UI that carried over from 8.1 to make you think the GUI is the same. You'll know what I mean...

Also no more Metro apps, the ones that open fullscreen and shit.
I honestly have nothing bad to say about 10 after upgrading from 8.1. It just removed some old software without really asking me and I guess the botnet is annoying that you need to go out of your way to disable. And of course the inconsistent UI. But we're getting bash integrated into 10!

You can put the ISO on a flash drive and install it from there, so you don't need an optical drive in this instance.

I'd still advise you to get one for your build since CDs aren't 100% phased out and you might need to read one once in a while.

if you plan to upgrade to water cooling later you might want one with a normal PCB layout and then replace the cooler with water cooling.
if your card has a special pcb layout it wouldn't fit.
and already overclocked cards _usually_ have a higher chance to get an even higher clock rate compared to a non overclocked one.

So can I use this card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16814126112

With that build?
>>
>>55672385
sure, just make sure the card fits and isn't too long.
reference coolers tend to be a bit more noisy though, so keep that in mind.
>>
>>55672415

Noise aint really an issue to me, Ive been using a laptop that sounds like a jet engine with loose screws for years now, with a fan on 24/7. So it cant possibly be worse.

And my case is an ATX full tower, as noted in my build.

Any laptop buying advice?
-Budget is max $800
-Good build quality
-Needs an SSD
-Needs 8GB of RAM
-Needs a skylake or better processor
-No Apple/Chromebook

I'm just looking for a solid, everyday use non-gaming laptop that will last me a while. I thought one of the Dell XPS 13's were going to be it but then I found out about the shotty wireless care.

I accidentally deleted some stuff and I used a recovery program to recover them. Some of those files were Save backups from windows recovery and they got in my desktop

I'm trying to delete them and they are in use by system, I erased the system permissions to that archive and it still stays in use so I can't delete them (this is what google suggested)

I've tried killbox, mounting them with daemon tools somehow, data recovery and a miriad of things I've found to no avail, I'm honestly lost on what to do

Nobody's telling you what to do. You asked. Plenty of people have made the argument that microsoft has reasons for collecting this stuff, or that it's no big, or that andrapple does it too. They full on keylog you, and scan your emails, and turn it over to law enforcement pretty frequently, but they do give reasons for it. That's the norm now. Once you get used to a new norm, anybody who doesn't accept it seems like a Luddite or extremist whackjob. It's all a matter of perspective. I can understand people who have gone all there entire lives with the expectation that it is possible to type a key with out it automatically being sent to their software company, government and add agency, perhaps getting a little bothered by the change. And I can see you and most people coming along now and not really giving a shit. That's people for ya.

everything I download from the internet. the programs look all fuzzy because of the 32 bit im sure. Everything I downloaded from steam to speccy to cccleaner all didn't give me the option to choose; it just defaulted to 32 bit
>>
>>55672940
not everything is available in 64bit, so it'll just run in 32bit.
and it looking fuzzy is definitely not coming from them being 32bit.
do you have higher dpi/zoom setting? some software doesn't support this so it gets zoomed in and then looks blurry.

>>

it looks like scaling is on and the application doesn't support this, so it just gets scaled up and results in a blurry image.

right click on the desktop -> display settings
there's a zoom slider above orientation, put it to 100% and it should look how it should be.

Is it doing a few particular actions over and over?
>>
>>55673560
Nope, they just keep failing when I press them.

But something that happens only with the arrow keys (both of them: the numpad ones and the normal ones) is that they act like they're still being pressed when I've released the button, and I have to click them again to stop this. This doesn't happen with any of the other keys.
>>
>>55673658
All I can suggest is that sometimes what seems like multiple keys can actually be caused by one or two. I would try finding a program that lets you disable particular keys at the software level and try shutting them off 1 by 1. Happened to me on an HP once, took me 8 hours to figure out.

You could save a few bucks by dropping the PSU to 650w.

Also it might run a little sluggish without any drives.

Got storage covered. I actually got the a psu from a friend who ordered it by accident. It was cheap and new. Same with the 1070.

But about my heatsink question. Any advice? I don't want to use my old one. It's a 212 but it's several years old.

I'm trying to remove malware from my second PC, and I accidentally deleted the entire "regid.1991-06.com.microsoft" folder. Once I realized it contained a swidtag, I tried to restart the computer in the hopes that the system would replace it. It booted to a black screen, so I got the same file from my current laptop on a USB key and replaced the folder on the other computer.

My question is: if I restart, is that going to permanently fuck up the infected computer? I'm too scared to reboot now, because I finally got it to load properly and I don't want to risk it not loading again.

Is the swidtag unique to each device or is it the ID tag of all Windows products?

I am reading the /g/ wiki on anon
https://wiki.installgentoo.com/index.php/Anonymizing_yourself

It doesn't actually say how to obfuscate/hide IP. It says to get a VPN, and the VPN page just says "lol get a VPN." I have no intentions of nefarious activity, I simply don't want posts here tied to legit IP. I have a g-botnet email with real info that I use on a separate browser, but I imagine it still is tied to this place to some extent due to captcha.

How do I proxy? Alternatively, do free VPNs that aren't botnets even exist?
