I know its a meme to not buy prebuilt. But what if its a decent sale? If I buy a prebuilt and throw a 1070 and an SSD I'll still be saving 300$ more than buying everything separately. trying to install the latest Xubuntu 16.0_, used both LiLi and Rufus to make a bootable USB install and both don't work
All I get is either lines of code or white artifacts that take up the whole screen and hang there until I have to shut it down

I'm doing a very small computer build to run a 24/7 automated twitch channel. It'll basically be used to run xsplit and an emulator for retro games.

I don't think the fact that it is a USB 3.0 device in a USB 2.0 port should make a difference. All USB 3.0 devices I've encountered have been perfectly capable of operating in USB 2.0 mode when required, and I don't think it causes any extra complexity that would prevent you from booting.

Where you will sometimes run into problems is trying to boot off a USB 3.0 device that is actually plugged into a USB 3.0 port. Some motherboards just don't like to boot from USB 3.0, and sometimes you'll run into other problems for example if you're trying to install an older operating system, even as recent as Windows 7 had some problems with USB 3.0 that I encountered.

Is there any way to force chrome/opera/vivaldi to create separate processes for tabs instead of grouping then? Certain tabs will always be grouped together if they're dependent on a certain script. I've googled, but I haven't found anything that would make it possible. Asking here as a last resort.

More specifically, it's because when one of these tabs crash, it causes the entire tab group to crash, and I'd like to isolate that event as much as possible.

i dont know how ffmpeg works but a how-to article on podcasts (and uploading them to youtube) told me to use it and it just says to drop the picture and the audio into the /bin folder and then use this string:

So I bought Movie Studio 13 Premium from Sony. Was on steam for a measly $20. Works great. My only gripe is it doesn't have 1440p as a render option. (My native res). That said I found that even just to render from the project video (5-6 10 minute video clips I cut down) to a total 2:47 minute .mp4, it takes me around 4 minutes to render. I have an i7-6700k that hits 4.2ghz during render. Temps are under control, so no throttling.

Is this just how encoding/rendering shit is? The program suite I'm using doesn't utilize cuda acceleration so my 980ti just tags along not helping.

Besides the fairly crappy motherboard (a MSI H81M-E33) it's working pretty ok, and while the 280x has a bit more usage than the rest of this build it's just running fine with no signs of death.

That said, right now as we all know the 480 is right there, the 1060 soon after, should I attempt to sell my GPU and try to grab one of those or save a hundred eurobucks given that I don't play anything that would need anything more powerful than what I currently have?

One of my internal HDDs keeps disconnecting and reconnecting. I used compressed air on the HDD and motherboard connections and changed the SATA cable but the problem persists. It is incredibly frustrating, especially when seeding torrents and listening to music. I suspect the problem is with the ASRock motherboard. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
