I've been out of the custom ROM "game" for a while, work had me needing to use Stock but that's done now.

Flashing my Nexus 5 with CM13 now though and just sort of getting back into the groove of things. I see Paranoid Android is dead, which is sad. Seems a lot of ROMs and developers have hung up their coats.

Is ElementalX still the best Kernel choice for a Nexus 5 using CM? Any recommendations?

currently have an iphone 4s. looking to upgrade, but not something too huge. also using ting (which runs off sprint's network)

basically, what I'm looking for is the most resource efficient setup. an extremely fast processor, NO BLOATWARE, just looking for only what I need. powerful processor, yet an extremely light OS on top. only planning on using the phone for things like messaging, web browsing, etc.

I know the Oneplusone line supposedly runs an OS like that, but I was wondering if any of you have gone "extreme minimal" when it came to a low amount of well used apps.

basically something extraordinarily lightweight, minimal, efficient and fast. and control of what apps are on the phone.

ideas? size is flexible, as well as budget.

I think he's just trying to point out how you can get over 2X the storage capacity of a pissphone for less than $1000. That card + 64GB $400 android phone = ~$600 and 320GB total storage.

Had my s7 edge for 2 weeks now. First Samsung phone I have owned, always hated their design and touch wiz.

Got to say I'm fairly impressed with it. The edge is definitely a meme, and I actually really was considering for the first few days going and switching to a regular s7. The battery life is really sweet in the edge though so I am sticking with it.

The edge is cool sometimes in the right lighting, but besides that it's a nuisance if you don't use a case. The edge function "app edge" is kinda nifty, a quick way to multitask through apps. The rest of the edge features are pointless.

Camera is nice of course, but coming from a few years of Nexus the camera app on this is just miles ahead.

Touchwiz is acceptable and has some nice functions that you actually have to root stock Android to get. I notice a little lag here and there but it's nothing major yet. Also the stock browser is hands down the fastest j have used but is kinda gimped in features.

Bloatware is there of course but Samsung's shit isn't all that bad, T-Mobiles in the other hand...

Screen is awesome in daylight and blows my Nexus 6p out of the water in that aspect. The oleophobic coating in the screen is shitty though and attracts way more smudges that any other phone I have used.

Fingerprint reader is pretty good, not quite as fast as my Nexus 6p but being on the front is more convenient for me since I have babby hands. About on par with my work iPhone 6.


Headphone port is on the bottom like it should be. Got my free vr on the way so I can check out that meme for a few days and then chunk it in my closet.

Phone sucks to hold without a case, and is fragile as fuck so if you are clumsy or don't use a case you will fuck this chunk of glass up.

Overall a great phone but that should be expected for 700 fucking dollars.

Maybe, they look very similar in regular light but outside or in bright indoor light the s7 clearly beats it. Maybe the backlight on the s7 is better?

It doesn't show up at all when I want to type stuff and when I try going into it's settings through language and input, my phone freezes up. Is there any quick fix to this?

I'm looking into the Asus Zenphone 2 mainly for the price point. My buddy is telling me to get the One Plus 3 but I don't want to spend 400+ dollars on a phone when I'm not even out of college.

Having used both, the Moto X has a better camera. Later batches of Priv's have fantastic feeling quality, build-wise, while the Moto X is okay. Trying to help the best I can. Do note that the Priv's speaker grill lies, the speaker is only in one grill. I would've gotten it if it wasn't for the lack of root, as I was considering it pretty heavily. Keyboard is pretty neat as a touchpad, and Marshmallow gives it Swype-like typing, but the keypresses themselves aren't up to par with other keyboards.

I switched from a Note 4 to a 6S Plus and I'm loving it so far. Not to say that Android is bad, but the iOS experience has been great - constant 60fps everywhere. Very simple, no-bullshit software. The standby time is also great. I put iOS 10 on it and it's got some neat new features

Mostly I just need it to last a day at most, my moto x lasted about a day or two with my regular use even with 4g on constantly.

I have a leather holder and have not dropped mine or another persons phone in about 10 years now, last time I dropped a phone it was an old dumbphone i dropped from about 20 cm in height when picking up my jeans.

you also have the LG G4.. it is the perfect smartphone if not for the mediocre battery life but it doesn't sound like that would be a problem for you.

if you find it too ugly or you think the skin is intrusive (which in my experience it's not.) then the HTC 10 would also be a solid choice. be warned tho the HTC sense skin is hit and miss. some people love it others loathe it because it's too bland.
