Considering computer engineering, as someone who wants to learn how a computer works, software AND hardware, is this a good path? I feel as if I could learn the software side on my own time. The hardware elements are probably something that I need to attend a class for.

you could yeah, but you won't

the harsh truth is that CoE will put have you as a Jack of Two Trades master of neither.

If I were you I would do CS and don't fuck off in your architecture/hardware classes. I did that and made friends with an architecture professor and did research under him.

A website that is well SEO optimized that has content that people want to read/view

Google AdSense or some other advertisement program that generates money on views/clicks

Read about where the best placement of ads are (above the fold, etc.)

The SEO optimization is the most important - if you dont' show up on the first page of google when your content gets searched you're not going to make money

I don't recommend this career path. Go to school and get a job, you're not going to make money on ads unless you're getting tens of thousands (at least) of views per day

Do you have an antivirus installed that is set to scan on bootup (like most corporate workstations)?

Its impossible to tell without knowing what is plugged in where on your motherboard

Those temperatures correspond to components plugged in to certain places on the motherboard

I have 2x 4gb 1333, my old mobo only goes up to 1600 I think (M4A87TD/USB3).
If I buy a higher frequency, will they still work as they are 1666? Because I rather pay more now and change the mobo in a year and keep the rams, than to buy ram again.

PORN, what else?
The pages won't load properly without JS, and because of tumblr way of animating every GIF/video all at once, this puts a load on the browser.
I've disabled this behavior from about:config, while it helped improve the response of the site, it still pretty much put a strain on the CPU.
Is there a userscript , that "fix" tumblr?

I have a new skylake setup. I7-6700k. Asus ROG Ranger Z179 board. Corsair ddr4-3200mhz 2x8GB kit. Problem is i can't get the ram to run XMP at the rated settings on the box. The PC will hang and refuse to boot with XMP set. This is all with the cpu bone stock too.

I currently have the system set to 4.6ghz @ 1.35v adaptive OC on the cpu. 2666mhz @ CL18 on the ram. Is my memory controller just that picky? Is 3200mhz just no possible?

I've read several places that some high speed ddr4 kits were designed solely for x99 platform which is why I'm having issues. Is that true or just bullshit?

I mean the extra ram speed doesn't make or break my system by any means, but it would be nice to get the advertised speed.

I'm having an issue where my PC will either no longer power on at random, or will power certain parts only.
This happens both when I initially try to power on and when I try to wake it from sleep.
I think I've narrowed this down to the internal USB3 connector as playing around with that eventually results in a successful boot, but it's driving me crazy as I can power it off, leave it for a few hours and I'll have the same issue again. I can't seem to find anything else like this after a quick search so I was wondering if anyone else had any ideas. I wondered if it could be a bent pin or a bad cable, but I don't see how that would cause the entire system to fail.

if (div < 0){
div *= -1;
sign = 1;
}

if ((div + .5) >= (int(div) + 1) && sign == 1)

results[i] = ((int(div) + 1) * -1);

else if ((div + .5) >= (int(div) + 1) && sign == 0)

results[i] = (int(div) + 1);

just a guess but you probably need to case b to a double before performing the division, or the result of the division (still int) will be assigned to div

970s aren't "defective". They work exactly as they were intended to. Nvidia made a mistake releasing their stats. The 970 has 3.5GB high bandwidth ram and .5 low bandwidth. As intended. Their marketing department did not communicate with their tech department very well and so some of their original, more detailed tech stats came out wrong. A 970 is a damaged 980 corrected to work at a lower speed to save costs. This is a normal manufacturing technique

It depends on what vm you use and how you set it up. If your host os is on a different drive and isn't using a lot of resources, and your hardware fully supports the passthrough, you can often get 90%+ efficiency. But however you do it, it wont be perfect. At the very least linux will be using SOME resources. But if your hardware's good in general, you should really only notice the difference in large games and things that push the limit. VM is continence and dual boot is efficiency

don't.
you're way better off putting the data in an actual database and filter through that.

if you insist on doing it this way then read line by line and check the various columns for a match.
but you better implement some common search word caching to avoid going through the entire file every time.

I turned on my 2nd rig today after 3 weeks of not using it and the raid controller said there was an error with one of the drives. I don't mind losing everything , it didn't have anything of value to begin with.
The thing is however when I try to install any windows (tried 7 , 8.1 , 10 even vista) , right after you pick your drive when it is copying files (pic related) it stops immediately and throws a "windows can't format drive or some shit" error and restarts the installation.

The specs are:
q6600 @3.6Ghz
asus p5e (a maximus formula clone)
4gb ddr2
radeon hd 4890
a seagate and an excelstor 160gb drive

The drives are detected by the bios every time and work fine when plugged in to another computer. I have tried changing sata cables , running each drive on its own and using different sata ports.

Any ideas? I just hope it's not a dying mobo right now.

have you tried the rig with another harddrive?
>>
Why is nobody talking about Urbit yet?
http://urbit.org/
>>
>>55373238
i don't really have another hard drive. I could get one from my main rig but i'm afraid that if the mobo is dying it might fry it. Right now i'm trying to format the disc in windows and see if it works.

then try that harddrive in your main rig

I think I'm just going to buy a 380 since it's $299 in my country and the 480 is $470. I'm thinking about waiting for the 470 but it probably won't be better than the 380, will it?

probably more popular on facebook

The PS4 uses two CPU's. One low power ARM chip to run the OS and some background tasks. The the main one to run the games.

Why is this not a thing on home computers? Small chip runs the OS and can be always o in a low power state monitoring and whatnot. then have you main board to run heavy applications .

anyone?

first of all:
>970
>over an rx480

>serious mode
you could find a better hard drive. blue drives (especially ones with more than 1 tb) are rebranded greens so it's gonna be slow.

I also feel like you don't need a z170 motherboard with that cpu.
>>
>>55373403
Hmmmm, i already got the 970 for a year now. im getting the z series mobo for faster ram, but im still not convinced its worth it, maybe i should go for a h170 then? Any recommendation on a hdd, or just some reputable brand 7200 rpm one? thanks for the advice
>>
>computer runs near silent with just SSD
>need storage so install an HDD
>computer now emits an audible low hum
When do you think SSDs will reach a storage and reliability level that will match HDDs?
>>
>>55373445
storage isn't the problem, price is.
if you need storage for archiving your files then hotplug it and only use it when you need to access something.
if you need it available all the time get a NAS and put it in a room where you can't hear it.
>>
>>55373445
not within the next few years at least.
>>
>>55373432
i'm probably the worst person to recommend a hard drive since i've only had wd drives and the only option now is blacks. From time to time people here recommend hgst drives but i've never used one.

as for the motherboard , the h170 seems to only accept slow ram so z170 it is. I thought a b150 would work as well but they are the same as the h170. if the ram speeds were at 2400 or maybe a bit higher it would be perfect for the h170/b150 but 2133 is too low for me.
>>
>>55373575
is 2133 really that slow considering the gpu and cpu ill be using?

Opera has a built in free vpn
>>
>>55373623
it's more complicated than just mhz. you need to see the ram speed as well as the timings. linustechtips made a video once comparing some very slow ddr3 kit (800 mhz) and some faster ones (2400) and at some point the sticks were so fast and the timings so loose that they performed the same or worse than some slower ones. in any case it won't make much of a difference in games , only in some specific workloads.
>>
>>55373473
Storage/price ratio I meant. Been up all night.
>>
>>55373256

update: formating the drive in windows worked. it's installing fine now.
>>
>>55373741
ok, thanks, looking at it the 2133 mhz has a faster latency but lower bandwidth. more importantly it saves me about 40 dollaridoos, so ill go with that and a seagate 2tb barracuda. thanks for your help

How big SSD is good?
Is there a point to a 250 GB one if you have a regular HDD for storage?
I'd like to have windows on an SSD but is there a large benefit to having other stuff on one too? Maybe a couple of games or something?
>>
>>55373984
I'm getting a 960GB sandisk, Gaymen on hdd is just too much of a hassle and it's very affordable at 220€.
>>
>>55374061
Yeah that is affordable. So the load times are a lot shorter in games on SSD?
>>
Has pajeeting gone too far?
>>
>>55374061
>hold ten games in 2017
money well spent
>>
>>55374141
I mean for some games it won't matter at all but for some it's nice to load faster. It's more of a convenience thing so I don't have to pick and choose what I install where. Everything goes on the ssd except for media/downloads/torrents
>>55374207
I don't know senpai I have an older 500GB 7200rpm drive that I use right now and I'm don't have to clean it often so 960GB will go a long way.
I just ordered it on amazon.de as a matter of fact.
