>KDE Plasma 5.2 looks really good
>feel like switching to linux
>remember that no developers want to port their games to linux as there is almost no gaming market there, and WINE doesn't support some games

Linux is completely useless. There's almost no games on it apart from fan ports, and anything that you could want to do on a PC can be done on Windows, so what's the point in using a Linux Distro instead?

>b-but muh freedoms

But many big name developers don't want to put their programs and games onto linux, as the linux userbase is relatively small compared to the Windows userbase.

Why even bother with Linux, /g/?
>>
>games
Buy a PS2 you manchild
>>
>Plasma 5.2
It's shit. GNOME is better.
Also the best games are from past generations, based open source emulators make them safe to play.
>>
>>46729241
once you grow up you'll learn that there are some other reasons than gaming to use a computer
>>
thanks to the effort of valve/steam, linux gaming is beginning to pick up steam. plasma 5 is pretty cool and actually feels like a mature desktop solution apart from some minor annoying idiosyncracies, but those are to be expected with any DE.
>>
>>46729249
Why not emulate one on Windows?

Because piracy is a crime 'mkay? Why steal the games when you can buy them for ten a penny?

My main use for my computer is gaming, and besides, anything that you can do on Linux can be done on Windows

>Linux is completely useless. There's almost no games on it

People use Linux for servers and development environments you machild.

This isn't even an issue if playing video games is how you mostly use the computer than stay on windows because it's the ideal environment for it.
>>
>>46729326
SSH?

Actually that would be the PS2. Which can run Linux.

yeah, _YOUR_ main use.

Yes, but that doesn't change the fact that shiny things make shit look less shit and Sonic Spinball is an objectively better game than Skyrim.
>>

Its OGL renderer is still inferior to the D3D.

what? most people use their computer for actual work.

you never explicitely asked why _you_ should bother with linux.

Get a load of this fucking faggot
>>
>>46729241
I don't know if you've noticed, but most of us on /g/ that push Linux use it because:
1. We love it. It's a more enjoyable computing experience for the technically minded
2. We're developers who use our computers for actual work. Although most the Linux devs I know keep a windows partition for gaming. However, work takes precedence and a "gaming partition" gets little use. Nobody actually likes using Windows for anything besides "Muh games".
Furthermore, anybody who has actual self-worth doesn't give a flying fuck what other people use. The fact that people like you base their worth on which OS, which phone, etc. is fucking sad. It's like elementary school where anyone who wore reebok instead of Nike got picked on. You're fucking pathetic.
If you like windows, use it. If you wanna talk about gaming, go to /v/. Those fags would love to join your Microsoft circle jerk. Just keep your pleb tier consumerist bullshit to yourself, or at least away from /g/

What? Almost all the games in my Steam list show up in Linux.
>>
>>46729731
Why would a VM have 160GB capacity? Why would anyone run Windows for any reason ever? Why are you redirecting people to your home board?

XFCE is deprecated because all the users moved to LXDE.
LXDE is deprecated because all the developers moved to LXQT.
LXQT just plain isn't ready yet.

Use KDE.

install layman, layman -a qt && layman -a kde, emerge -auDN @kde-live-next

you'll have to manually step in and correct some dependency ordering at certain points in the install, kjs expects the kdoctools package to already be installed (which it isn't, so the compile errors out, so just one shot emerge kdoctools and then go back to compiling the main set), you have to do this one or two more times for different packages which is easy enough to figure out by reading the error.
