If you're looking for purchase advice, READ THE BUYERS GUIDE FIRST. Then post, stating budget and requirements (e.g. size and performance).
Don't buy anything OTHER THAN T, X AND W/P SERIES if you want the Real ThinkPad Experience™
Recommended models:
T420 - 14", normal size
X220 - 12.5", ultraportable
----
Why ThinkPad? (also applies to other business laptops)
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap.
>Excellent keyboards - tactile feel and quiet.
>Great durability: chassis uses a magnesium rollcage for structural integrity, with high quality plastic body panels.
>Utilitarian design: e.g. indicator LEDs, 7 row keyboard layout on older models.
>Docking stations that easily turns your laptop into a desktop.
>Easy to repair, upgrade and maintain thanks to readily available service manuals for every model. Spare parts are easy and cheap to obtain.
>The best trackpoint (that red thing in the middle of the keyboard). Great for those who type a lot or hate swiping their fingers all over a touchpad.
>Excellent GNU/Linux & *BSD support.

I have a question about my battery and the price I paid for my x220. With the battery I get ~4 hours total. Is that normal?
The specs of the x220 is
i5-2410m
4gb of ram
500gb hdd
I paid ~$150USD and it came in an almost brand new condition.

Where did Linux go wrong?
Why are consumer products using BSD instead?
>>59274129
Because of the BSD (aka cuck) license they can just take the code and use it in their proprietary shit all they want
>>59274129
The switch doesn't actually run a freebsd-based OS, it just uses an unknown part of the codebase.
The switch's OS is pretty similar to the 3ds'.

But I thought everyone on /g/ was a video editor and that's why everyone needs a high core count Ryzen CPU. 15 inch, high resolution screens are very useful to video editors, so a board that has no shortage of video editors should be able to appreciate that.

What tablet should I buy to stream games from my home PC to my college? Looking at the Shield K1, but also the Google Pixel C for the X1 chipset. Also how does Moonlight compare to Nvidia Gamestream?
Thanks all, in b4 tablets are useless.. need something lightweight for next quarter
Bump for prosperity
I've been looking for a tablet that can do some basic stuff, like run Rosetta Stone, and something as basic as playing RuneScape. But so far all the tablets I've found, ones with W10 installed, cost well over $600, which is heavily overpriced for something which I plan to hardly use. I'm really only paying for the convenience of being able to use this shit while I'm in bed. Does anyone know of any decent tablet devices which can do this and which are fairly cheap?
>>59274091
Why W10? Doesn't Rosetta Stone have an Android app? RCA Cambio comes to mind as being cheap but idk anything about W10 tablets.

Why is there no discussion about quantum computers.
I have a few inputs of information about people trying with these but intel says they are close to becoming consumer gear.
Is there going to be a cost split between the usefulness of what traditional computers and quantum ones do?
It sounds like AMD has been gearing up toward this and are going to stay relevant.. Are intel just waiting for a competitor capable for quantums before they release it?
BUT WILL IT MINE KRYPTO?
