Getting this thread back on track edition

Last (technically) thread >>40946392
Last One True Thread >>40893804

You fat fucks need to learn how to make new threads by the way.

Who is /fat/ for? Fat members of /fit/ who want to learn how to eat right, lift weights, and lose fat. Here we ask others for advice and give moral support to one another. We all know how hard it first is and we all have to get through it to better ourselves. At the end of the day this is a support general whose goal is to help and motivate the chubby channers who need it. Please be warned that there are some chronic idiots who post in this general giving horrible advice that doesn't work for them or anybody. If you see something that contradicts what the sticky says, ignore it.

First for who gives a fuck if the thread has the paste or not
>>
>>40955724
Who did their cardio like a good goy today?

Just went on the elliptical for 45 minutes and I have started noticing that my legs hurt a lot more now after my cardio than a month ago. What could be the reason for this soreness? Shouldn't I be getting stronger?
>>
>>40955767
If you're not eating as much, you're not recovering like you once did. It could be a good thing.
>>
>>40955757
The paste is important for fat fucks who don't know where to start and prevents them from asking easily answerable questions and making the threads shitty

Also, for the past few days no one has been linking old threads and new threads, so I wanted to right that wrong.

Sorry for trying to make /fat/ not the shittiest general on /fit/

Were you bullied in high school, retarded, or perhaps both? Jimmy Dean products are the ideal breakfast for anyone trying to lose weight. They have the exact amount of protein and fat needed to start your day and keep you on track. They also are perfect for curbing cravings for fat. Don't be a manchild eating oatmeal or fiber cereal for breakfast. Choose Jimmy Dean™ products.

So /fat/, im addicted to cardio now. Ive almost reached my goal weight of 180 (only 25lbs away) and ive gotten tired of my daily walk so i burned some P90X videos onto a cd and played them on my ps3.

Holy shit this feels so good, im usually exhausted at the end but i feel great. Each workout burns about 600 calories, and at my weight it might be even more. Im doing a mix and match of their best cardio exercises, three each day. Today i did kenpo > cardio > plyometrics and burned around 1800-2000 calories according to their online calculator.

I dont even feel fatigued and do it all again the next day, it feels really good when im finished wih a video an sit their strecthing out and recovering. Since im too busy working out i dont even have tine to think about food either.

Is there a thing as too much exercise? I think im replacing my food addiction with this constant exercise

hey /fat, just curious, how do you measure your meat?

I hear some people like to measure it after it's cooked selecting the preferred method on MFP (for example, grilled chicken, baked tilapia, etc) Other people measure it raw and add it just like that.

I found out that the best option for me is to just go with the one that has more calories to use it as some form of safety net, raw skinless chicken breast has more calories than the grilled chicken option on MFP so I've just been using that whenever i cook my chicken

What kind of a deficit are you guys doing? I've been eating about 1000 a day, sometimes up to 1200-1300. Everyone tells me it's bad and almost everything I've read says it's bad but I feel fine. The only time I feel hungry is on my way home from work to eat dinner. Do I need to be eating more? Sedentary TDEE is 2420, it's been almost a month and I'm down almost 7kg.

People who get into a relationship with a fat person generally want to be in a relationship with a fat person, and very often will sabotage weight loss attempts.

not sure if this is question is relevant to the thread but I think I started bulking a little too early but I feel like I'm too far in to lose everything by cutting.

>>
>>40959000
The numbers still don't add up. If you lose 80 lbs in 60 days you are losing more than 1lb per day.

You would need to be in deficit over 10x what you're saying. Are you sure you're not over like 500 lbs and running a massive deficit?
>>
>>40958997
those are almost exactly my stats, weird. have you been gaining or losing?
>>
I've been eating well still but having trouble making it to the gym outside of scheduled appointments with my trainer (thank fuck I found a really good cheap trainer because it's all that's keeping me on track right now).

I'm losing energy and will because of my relationship with my fiance kind of getting in the way. We live together. He doesn't do shit. He cleans maybe once a week while I'm cleaning something almost daily just trying to get our apartment to not look like garbage (before I started working on myself depression let this place get bad. Not hazardous or anything but tons of clutter).

And yet he still does nothing with me having 80% of the work done by myself.

I cant concentrate on motivating myself to go to the gym or even do cardio at home because.my home makes.me sad as fuck. One part of.me wants to just leave but I can't ditch a good relationship for one problem like this.

I just needed to get this off my chest.

I didn't lose any weight this week because I skipped my nonscheduled workouts but I didn't gain either (even after succumbing to an ice cream binge which I've posted about here the other day).
I just want him to get off his fucking ass. All he does is sit in bed playing games all day. He won't even get up to get himself food most of the time and instead either gets hangry at me or just goes a couple days without eating if I don't get it for him and he doesn't understand how much stress it puts me through to see him do that especially when it.makes him sick.

I just feel like crying /fat/ and getting a soda. Thank fuck it snowed a lot today or I'd probably have given in to that craving by now (la Croix has helped in the meantime but this flavor tastes like butt).

I just need to start being a bitch about it because clearly being nice and communicating isn't fucking helping and I'm sick of my own mental health suffering because boo fucking hoo he's too sad to get up and do something..Me too. Suck it up. Ugh.
>>
Can anyone comment on my supplement regiment?

Before bed
>2 Fish Oil
>1 Biotin

When I wake up
>2 Fish Oil
>1 Biotin
>1 Nature Made Stress B Complex with Zinc

Thinking of adding an iron pill to this as well, would move the B complex to before bed along with the iron pill since iron needs VitC to absorb and the B complex pill has VitC in it already.

Was also thinking of adding D3 as well since I get no sunlight. I work nights and only see the sun on my drive home from work.

I know i'm over on the fish oil but i'm on big cal defect. The fish oil really helped me with my dry eyes and skin as crazy as that sounds.

Bloggy post inc, but when i was in high school i was around 250lbs, which is the weight that i'm currently now after a year and a half of dieting (ate my way up to 360)

High school was the time where i felt more confident with myself, and also the only time in my life where i actually hooked up with girls constantly, i'm not gonna lie the best i got was probably a 7/10 but still, confidence really matters and it's not a meme, but no matter what no one has an excuse to be fat and i'm aiming to focus on myself for the rest of the year to get to to the 190s
>>
>>40958936
similar build here, 6ft and 260 but i started at 360, i thought the recommended weight for us was like 170? or are you aiming to be big guy? (for us)
>>
>>40959073
Started at 370ish, now abou 220 @ 6foot even. Works good for me, traded one eating disorder for another I guess. My hair started falling out so I started the biotin, then my eyes and lips were dry as the desert. The Fish Oil fixed that. Started feeling sick all the time, the B complex fixed that. Now I feel mostly fine besides a little more fatigued than I think I should. That's why I was thinking of adding iron. Also doing lots of cardio, starting cardio really made me feel a lot better as far as health (physical and mental) though I still feel like I'm a lo more angry than I should be. The littlest thing sets me off now when before I was an easy going guy that could walk in on his wife fucking another man and just go "oh well". Now i ready to kill someone for looking at me wrong
>>
>>40959112
I know the big bone thing is a meme but I do feel like i'm built bigger than most people. Im broad shouldered and big chested. I feel like if I get down to 170 i'd be meth head looking. If I get to 190 and i'm still fat i'll go down to 180. I do plan to build decent muscle mass though

Really recommend doing this at least once every few months if you're a fatty. Specially if you feel like you're on the verge of killing yourself because of your diet. Before the fast i was doing 1.3k cals a day of PSMF and the temptation to cheat everyday was monstrous, after the fast i feel like i just started my diet again for the first time and temptations are at 0 again.

The friend i was mentioning has the fucking worst personality i have ever come across and I don't personally take a liking to his disgusting self-absorption at all.

I'll likely stop being his friend somewhere down the road because of how much he looks down on everyone else and how much he bitches and complains about how everyone else is the source of his problems but primarily his parents even though he's fucking 20 years of age already and lying about moving out of their home.

Now I understand what you mean but you got me fucked up if that advice is fake as fuck and easy to see when it's him and the other one in comparison.

Some girls must be desperate for sure but how he managed to suck her into his scheme is something I'm still trying to figure out.

That advice just isn't worth giving anymore is the point I'm trying to make.

Personally I don't go out of my way to get in other people's lives and fuck with them like he does, though, so I'd wager I'm at the very least doing something right by being helpful to those around me.

If you care more about strength, you should build muscle first while you still have the bulk. Cutting makes you weak since you're eating at an energy deficit all the time, so no gainz unless you're a beginner.
You could cut first but then you'll see yourself bulking later on when your strength peaks.

Hello again /fat/bros.

I'm 5kg off a healthy weight, well the very near end of the BMI of my category.

It feels so weird, my diet is literally shit tier, I no longer feel shin splints from walking, I'm doing something right though.

Also is it normal for my sternum to feel like it sticks out a bit? I've forgotten what it was like.

I think I'm going to for 75kg, the very bottom of what's healthy in my range.
>>
I'm that fattie that started lifting a few days ago

>first time ever lifting on Sunday
>Monday sore as fuck so I did cardio
>Tuesday my off day but hurt even more than Monday
>still a bit sore today
Do I lift today? Or wait till I'm 100% and just cardio today?
>>
>>40959982
What's your routine?

As a beginner, you should work every muscle group once a week. The pain you experience is DOMS which is your body's response to doing something it's not used to. As time goes on your body adapts and your body won't be sore as often. Eventually you'll want to hit each muscle 2-3 times a week to get maximum gainz

I squat 3 times a week and usually don't feel sore in my legs
>>
>>40959982
eat more proteins and just do 25 min cardio and rest
>>
Since i bought a bigger pot and pan meal prepping only takes around 2h30min instead of 4h30min.
If any of you fatties are lazy too, consider meal prepping it really changed my life, instead of eating a frozen pizza every day i now eat a prepared meal every day that tastes better and has much better nutritional value.
>>
>>40959959
Why not fix your diet a little bit. Nobody expects you to live like a hermit. But eating unhealthy still damages your body bro, fix it and attain that weight you're striving for. You'll thank us when you're 65 and don't feel like shit.
>>
Can anyone please help me with food? Im trying to cut and follow suggested fit recipes but theres a fuckton of beans, broccoli, bran, eggs and other similar foods suggested for meals that absolutely destroy my stomach because I have Crohns Disease. Is there any recommended substitutes for those types of foods? Like can I sub brown rice instead of beans?
>>
>>40960061
Well, I say shit, I get a good balance of fat/carbs/protein.

But simply put I eat very simple meals, like chicken, rice, soy sauce.

I do 3 supplements a day, I know it's not enough, 2 daily Multivitamins and what ever else I find, B12/Taurine etc.

Is this still a terrible idea?
>>
>>40955907
Ate some KFC yesterday and went 100 calories over my TDEE. Fucked up, since I could've just cut that shit up and ate with broccoli for the next two meals and keep calories lower. I'm mad as fuck.
>>
>>40960145
Lol dude chill.

Everyone occasionally goes over their TDEE, just don't do it often.

Just forget about it and eat your same deficit tomorrow, don't starve yourself, consider some light exercise perhaps.

Staying mad about breaking one time is unproductive, imagine the old you, he/she would have had to do that hundreds of times to get fat, you did it once, that's an achievement.

>>40958531

Don't BE MEAN TO HIM, HE DIETED FOR A WHOLE WEEK.

A WHOLE WEEK, 7 DAYS OF EATING NO LARD, DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD THAT IS?
>>
>>40958912
I was pretty average in HS around 65 kilos (132 lbs). Some horrible things happened and i started eating like crazy, nothing filled the void as much as nasty fat food, now almost 11 years later I'm at my highest weight 110 kilos (242 lbs). I just cant stop eating, cant keep a diet, pretty much it's too late. Depression is hell of a thing

>>
>>40960411
i started last week man
>>
>>40960527
i actually gained the weight due to being in a really bad relationship, i was super depressed and would just order out and eat huge fatty portions of food. in my daily life before that relationship i ate well under 2k, dieting isn't my problem depression eating it but ive been able to keep at it for 2 months now, and only started going to the gym last week
>>
>>40960669
Only 5lbs in 2 months? I mean, that's ok I guess.
I've lost 20kg in 4 months, you can push yourself a lot harder.

I think gym is a meme when you're pretty fat, it's good to build willpower but you will see fuckall gains.

Focus on deficit, gym can come later.
>>
>>40959025
ehh, i've been sorta yo-yoing at the moment. i had a lot of things pop up..lots of things that involved food..not the healthiest of foods. basically a complete week of fucking up, but few anons told me that was probably for the best, because if i didn't eat anything at the events, i would probably binge even more, and probably fuck up harder then if i just ate at my events that came up..

so for few weeks i lost like 13 pounds (mostly water weight, i know) but after that week of fucking up, i checked myself and gained back like 3-4 pounds.. but i've accepted i can't keep fucking up, and i have no big plans, for many months, so i am back on track... hoping to get into the 200 pound range, towards the middle of summer but idk..
>>
>>40960707
(im not the guy you just responded too)

but i've heard cardio is best early on. specially if your considered obese/morbidly obese.
so as long as that anon doesn't fuck with the weights, he should be good..but then again i've heard lifting weights is better then cardio because it burns like 2x the calories. so he won't see any gains, but he will drop fat faster
>>
>>40960707
>>40960729

i was 300 before i took the pic, 290 when i did. and my weigh in this morning was the 5lb lost at the gym, my willpower is fine desu im not snacking or sneaking food, im eating 1086 a day and working out everyday except sat/sun also doing cardio after lifting, the gym is keeping me from just roping myself basically. i can just escape and work out and everyone there is really helpful. i work out at like 12am till 3am
>>
>>40960729
If you are just starting out you can lose weight and gain muscle at the same time. Muscle require more energy to maintain than fat, so the more you have the easier it is to cut.

Cardio burns more calories, not very many, but is really good for general health. But the larger you are the more cardio can fuck up your knees. At 300ish I'd say you should probably start with walking a couple miles a day and lifting. Add cardio in like 3-4 months and go with whatever works.
>>
How much weight should I be expecting to lose per month realistically? I'm fuckhuge and have like 200 pounds to lose. Been eating at 1500 calories daily.

Not having a problem with losing, it's coming off. Just trying to get a feel for what to expect.
>>
You'll lose insanely fast at first, my weight-loss has been 4 months and first month was 8kg, 4kg,5kg, 4kg.

Probably some water weight meme.
>>
>>40960861
>200 pounds to lose
you could probably lose like 3-4 pounds a week for awhile.
A consistent 1.5-2 pounds is great once you hit the 200s

The most accurate way would be weighing it raw and using the nutrition data on the package to calculate the macros and calories. The package is always the source of the most accurate information and the data there is for the state of the food as it is in the package, that is, raw.

The mobile MFP app can be used to scan barcodes and get the package nutrition data easily into your MFP food log.

I hate being a morbid obese fatty. I keep trying to cardio so I can lose weight faster and jesus fuck Im out of shape. I kept ending up feeling shaky and then drinking a shitton of juice. I get shaky a lot when doing physical activity or even just mild chores, Im guessing its not low blood sugar tho? I see the FPH meme of "muh sugars", is that what they are referring to?
>>
>>40961093
juice is literally soda, stop drinking it. The only liquids that go into your body should be water, black coffee, or tea

If you are having that much difficulty with cardio you should start by just walking a mile or two a day.
>>
>>40961093

Weight is not decreasing or increasing = your calorie intake equals your calorie expenditure

If you know your calorie intake, that number is your current TDEE. Lower calories to continue losing weight.
>>
>>40961120
I was able to stop turning to juice when I got the shakes, I put it in MFP and realized it wasnt as healthy as I thought. I didnt know fruit was so high in sugars so I just drink ice water as I lay there trying to regain my breath. I assume the shakiness goes away as I get more conditioned and used to physical activity, it there anything I should be doing to minimize the shakes while Im in fat phase?
>>
>>40961163

I think you should consider just walking for now. Cardio is a nightmare for everyone when they first start, but not sure that's a common thing.

You add water/milk to oats and cook them in the microwave. Oatmeal is cooked oats. You can add stuff to your oats before or after cooking, like bananas. More water makes oatmeal more filling while also diluting the taste. You can eat oats raw too (not steel-cut oats, though) like a cereal. Oats can be used as in ingredient in baking. Rolled oats (like Quaker Old-Fashioned Oats) are the basic type, don't buy instant oats. Oats are a dirt cheap food that's really nutritious which is why it's popular with /fit/.

>>
>>40959982
You can train with DOMS, it's not dangerous. You'll learn to differentiate muscle soreness from the pain of strains/tears and joint pain which are what you shouldn't try to train through.

Massive soreness occurs when you stress a muscle in some new way or a lot more than you're used to. it stops happening when you get used to it, usually after the first week of training. So, soreness happens to everyone starting to train or re-starting after a break. Some people get soreness in some part their body always. I think most people won't get soreness at all if they train frequently enough.

For me, if I train everything twice a week or more often, I don't get soreness. If it's been one week or longer since the last time I trained some body part, it'll get a little sore next time I train it. After a longer break, I'll be seriously sore too. So, I try not to have periods of zero training like that. Training lightly during a break keeps the soreness away while still allowing you to recover fully.

Greatly increasing your caloric expenditure is pretty difficult. Even very intense exercise isn't that effective since you can't keep it up for very long. For those who aren't elite athletes, big increases in energy use come mostly by a relatively small increase in expenditure that lasts a long time. Like having a physical job where you're walking and doing stuff for 8 hours every day is effective. Exercising for 8 hours on your free time isn't really reasonable.

Don't think of exercise as a way to increase your caloric expenditure. It's ineffective at that. Do it for health and feeling better. That should be simpler to do and more motivating since you can just focus on the gains in your ability to move.
>>
>>40961672
>It's ineffective at that. Do it for health and feeling better.
It's ineffective at the beginning. But it pays dividends. Once you can really train up your endurance, eating more, while maintaining your deficit is easier and more efficient.

I like to think of cardio as "training endurance" I'm not trying to burn calories, really, just to increase my capacity to burn calories in the future.

I've been experimenting with something I thought was a typical misguided step of someone trying to lose weight.

I'm delaying breakfast. Not skipping it, but delaying it for as long as I deem easy. I never feel particularly hungry right after waking up anyways, and by waiting a couple of hours before eating, and then only eating approximately 200kcal, keeping to the entire day's calorie limit is far easier than before.

Currently 164lbs, so I know I don't -quite- belong on this thread, but I began at 240-250, and this general didn't exist back then, and I want to participate with my fellow bros for a fellow cause.

>>40961885
I've been doing the same with delayed breakfast, but for the reason that eating when I first wake up upsets my stomach for some reason. My system needs time to wake up before it can handle oats even, so I end up delaying breakfast by a couple hours and I've noticed it helps me later in the afternoon when my hunger usually hits hard. Plus I'm not wasting time on the toilet

Yes, I also feel the hunger is most aggressive later in the day, and eating like this also allows me to eat a major meal (800kcal+) for dinner, which usually is not too long before I do strength training. If there's one point of the day I refuse to be hungry, it's before and after exercise, which this type of fasting makes easier.

I haven't actually realized how I'm practically doing 16-8 IF before

Poorfag growing up who always wanted more to eat. On top of that, my Mom was a super controlling bitch w/ a food problem of herself. She would get Lucky Charms and sugary cereals and make us kids eat knockoff cheerios from the dollar tree or something. She would have her cookie dough, her ice cream, her sodas, etc. All these costlier treats that we weren't allowed to eat. She even raided our Halloween candy for the good stuff for herself.

When I moved out it was like OH WOW I can finally grab a soda without her being psycho over it (note: she wasnt concerned about us gaining weight or anything like that, she let us have sugar, but it was just shit candy and stuff no kid likes).

I binged a little and kept an okay weight. I later became disabled and physical activity stopped and there came the fat. Trying to move forward w/ weight loss w/ a disability that limits the stuff I eat. I hope to make it one day bros

I've watched his video a couple days ago, and I don't know if it would be better to run in a fasted state or not. I don't usually run in a fasted state, because I get really hungry after waking up (I eat once a day). I mean, on the one hand, running in a fasted state means you burn fat, but on the other hand, shouldn't running in a not fasted state still help with depleting my glycogen(?) stores, leading to more fat burning later on? I guess the answer is that it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things, but it would still feel better to lose weight at peak efficiency.
