I'm 5'10", 243. I lost a bunch of weight pretty consistently the last few months, but the last week I've fucking plateaued. I've stayed the exact same weight for 7 days. I eat around 1,500 calories a day and exercise a few times a week.

Hey /fit/, I've had a lot of "I'm gonna get motivated and lose weight" stuff in the past I always fell off the wagon and just went back to eating w/e. But this most recent time I cut down to 1200 calories a day, and limited carbs to 50 carbs a day.

I've stuck with it for 2 months. So I decided to try keto, drop my carbs to 20 a day, and only eat around 800 calories a day. I've been doing it for 2 weeks and I created some great meals. Is this healthy?

Breakfast

2 Hard Boiled Eggs - sometimes plain sometimes w/1 tbsp mayo and some red onion.

Lunch

Chicken, Avacado, a Gala Apple, Celery,Red Onion w/ lime and 2 tbsp Olive Oil

Dinner

This is where my issue is, I don't know what to have for dinner. I'm thinking some type of fish, cauliflower, idk really. Any tips would be appreciated.

My breakfast and lunch are all meal planned in the fridge. Breakfast is 138-256 Calories, Lunch is 462 calories, dinner is what I need to make up.

The only other thing I have is this tea I make with plain black tea and 1 can of rockstar lemonade per gallon (6 carbs in a can), I maybe drink 1/4 gallon a day which gives me a kind of energy drink and the rest is water or plain tea.

I'm 400 pounds, I can feel I'm not motivated because I;m big, I'm depressed, so many things I want to do (I do digital media, motion design, etc, online content) and I just sit in my chair and watch podcasts because I'm just so depressed.

Better advice would be to eat at 1500, walk an hour every day, and maybe consider skipping eggs for breakfast, they really are pretty bad on your heart at such a high weight. Why have breakfast at all? For dinner slam down on greek yoghurt, meat, vegetables, anything you feel like as long as you can keep under the limit. But 800 is way too low an unsustainable over longer periods of time. If you really want that speed of progress eat 1500 and walk off 700cals a day, which is about 2 hours at your weight provided you walk at a normal pace.

Cardio went well yesterday, burned 274 calories running 2.6 miles in 30 minutes. Cardio is getting pretty easy now, I just listen to audiobooks and the time flies by.

Cut is going really well. Drinking lots of water keeps hunger at bay, and combined with intermittent fasting makes weight loss effortless.

Currently at 27.2% bodyfat with lean mass of 140, so if I cut down to 160 lb while keeping all my muscle I should be approximately 12% bodyfat.

Lifts are going up as well so I keep packing on more muscle.

Nah different guy. One thing I'd recommend is drinking lots of water through the day, and making sure you get enough calories so you don't binge the next day. Also I try to eat a couple hours before bed so I don't have to go to bed hungry.

What I do is skip breakfast and lunch and have an early dinner around 5-6 pm. You can eat alot and be full, satisfied. I still count calories so I don't go over my daily limit.


First few weeks you might be hungry and low energy, just drink some water it keeps hunger at bay till supper time.

Nah what I usually do is keep my calories pretty constant. 1200 most of the time and approximately 1500-1600 before the days I'm gonna workout. Since I'm hitting the gym tomorrow I'm having 400 more calories than normal. I would highly advise against going lower than 1000 calories a day because you will binge the next day and starving yourself to that extent will fuck with your mood and hormones. It's all about caloric deficit over the long term. Remember you're gonna be doing this for months or years till you hit your goals.

The chicken is called tandoori, its an Indian spice mixture. My mum makes it, I think she got the spice mixture from the supermarket.

A brisk 45 minute walk burns more calories then an 45 minute strength lifting session. Especially if you're a new lifter with piss poor lifts.

If you want to lose weight then a hard cut, extra activity, cardio and SOME resistance is good.

For me who didn't know a thing about weight loss I just stopped eating a lot, tracked my calories (fitbit is great), and did nothing but cardio (I'd go as far as possible and try aim for 20 seconds more than my last time on a treadmill at a moderate speed).

For me it was low intensity, mixed in with some occasional high intensity.

Not sure if it'll work for you but I went from 330 > 240 from May 1st to September 1st. I'm about 155 now as a lanky half-marathoner.

started doing cardio again yesterday (30 mins of couch to 5k), gonna try 4 days a week, resting the whole weekend, i have been lifting since the start but i never did cardio because i started as a 360lb hambeast, now i'm +100 lb lighter (255) and i'm trying to see if i get any pain (i have pretty weak knees from being a fatty, they often snap and shit but it doesn't hurt while i run, it hurts randomly from time to time even if i'm just sitting at the computer)

So far so good, only soreness and the occasional shin splint, i should stop if i feel anything other than that right?
