I only play it during major updates with save-scumming but I prefer gargoyle as it allows me to press up to repeat commands. A lot of people run into issues using gargoyle though.

"* Nodes for raw resource harvesting" is listed as the first gameplay mechanic to be implemented. Naturally, this leads to crafting.

Resource Gathering in itself has tons of potentially interesting game mechanics. Regional distribution. Depletion and respawning. Prospecting or scouting. Variable quality of materials extracted. Growing your own resource sources (i.e farming). Since crafting (and the gathering that backs it up) is likely to be such a major component of the game, you need to make sure it has sufficient depth and variety to actually be interesting.

Furthermore, you need to implement a large enough skill gap, and differences in required abilities to yield different types of items, to make the in-game economy thrive.

What's the plan here?

Quick lewd ideas:

Consumables that allow your body to produce a new raw material via lactation.
Enchanting items through lewd rituals of various kinds. Healing magic? Massage rituals. Debuffing magic? BDSM rituals. Fertility magic? Cumdump impregnation rituals.

I pretty much agree, you've hit the nail on the head. Harvesting, crafting, consuming/durability-depletion is going to be the core economy for forever in internet years. The natural lifecycle for resource sources/sinks in this game will require a lot of fine tuning. All of the features you mention for harvesting alone are things I would like to do, and will add it to the doc.

Furthermore, here are additional ways I have to be careful I can think off the top of my head:
- Making the harvesting/crafting grindy. I would rather have players enjoy several different pieces of content easily, than fuck a tentacle vine 10,000 times to harvest <item-name-that-always-includes-the-word-cum>.
- Making crafting boring. Like spending 10 hours whittling a stick into a splintery dildo. I'd prefer to have a player get eggs laid in dark places and then fertilized by a different creature, and then through hand wavey lust magic suddenly have crafted a something-something.

It's hard to draw parallels to existing sandbox economies, because grind is the name of those games. That's the metrics companies want to see: the more man-hours the more money. World of Grindcraft. Spreadsheets In Space. I'm fortunate because I don't need money, so I'm beholden to no one for this project (But I am short on time, as my balls are still being grasped in The Man's hand. So far he hasn't squeezed). So I don't want a person that wants to hop on for the 5 minute fap to feel hopelessly making no progress, but I want to properly reward players that want to waste their time in a MU/d/. It will have to be a delicate balance.

Sorry if these answers are unsatisfactory, my attention has been in producing code just to show something very unpolished.

To clarify: I hate grinds. I want individual actions to be meaningful and impactful. If a player wants to do that 10,000 times, it's not sweat off my back. It just means they probably have seen wider content and have more stuff. But it won't be a prerequisite for having *any* stuff.

I am also strongly against non-lewd methods, to a point that I have lewd ideas for actions as simple as planting seeds in the ground. If I'm going to make a lewd game, it might as well go all the way. Just have to make sure the fantasy world stays coherent.

That's a pretty 'glass half empty' approach.
Most aspects of the game can be modified by putting a half dozen new lines in the right file.
The mere fact you can create a line of latex clothing (and even what 'latex' really is) and then make it craftable with just a couple minutes typing is something very few games posses.

The only real roadblock is the abilities of the modder.
The game already has custom interactions, altered states and even transformative powers but the attempt of making a minotaur capable of rape and with mind-numbing cum that eventually turned you into a holstaurus took me hours to figure out and even then didn't work properly.

Gotta be careful with this one. Durability depletion is inherently unfun, but you need to destroy items somehow.

This can be aleviated by making it difficult to locate potentially grindy resource sites. There's a social element to "Hey, a source of X has popped up here, maybe you should grab some" as well.

If certain elements of crafting are done in the background, then this is more tolerable. For instance, hiring an NPC to spend 10 hours making something.

Spreadsheets in space is at least more interesting than outright grinding because of the spreadsheet maths you can do to optimise things, but spreadsheet maths and lewd doesn't mix.

How will a difference in player ability to gather/craft be done? The standard is that there are arbitrary levels in crafting and gathering skills and doing them raises your level. If you go by this method I highly suggest you break convention and only reward XP if players destroy crafted (but not gathered) items after creating them to avoid flooding the Nord economy with 100,000,000 iron daggers because they wanted to make 1 ebony helmet.

The most elaborate system is what puzzle pirates did, but that's just... not really feasible.

I guess I'll go ahead and post them. I don't know how many people here also post/lurk /hgg/ threads so you might already be aware of these

Translation for RJ160355 - Amor Magic Academy (preview box in left of pic) recently got finished. It's an RPG game where you and your lover move to an island to train to become magicians in order to fight monsters.
Content isn't strictly /d/ but it does include some good fetishes, like monster fuck, bukkake, apathetic/free use sex, gangbang, voyeurism/exhibitionism etc. The gameplay is pretty much split between RPG and (kind of) dating sim.
While a main focus of the game is NTR, after the (albeit somewhat exhaustingly long) opening it pretty much becomes a free-for-all orgy sim. the art's pretty meh but there's a ton of scenes


Also recently translated is RJ178928 - XVI ~Liz of Tower Town~ (preview pic right). Newest game by h-rpg developers Clymenia (Salvation, Nobleman's Retort etc), it's an rpg where you're sent on a mission by the mage's guild, something is goes awry and you end up having to help the denizens of a town deal with their problems in order to finish your mission.
Game is pretty vanilla but Clymenia usually has a lot of decent fetishes in their games (though I havent played much of this one)

I'm working on a system for modular part based characters in a text game. Essentially, each character would have a bunch of parts connected by reference to form a cohesive body. Using this, a character of any fantasy race or form could be constructed and described.

This system should be able to handle sex/combat fights where you could specify "grab x, with x" or "insert x into x" depending on what parts the characters are outfitted with.

I'm only a junior EE student, so while I have the good understanding of how to go about this, I'm having trouble with some of the big picture OOP stuff.

So for example, say the basic layout I choose for a human is: The character object has a head which has a neck which has a torso which has arms and legs. Where each component is a child of a body part class, and any superficial parts like eyes, mouths, hands would be held by the appropriate base part.

What would be the best way to structure things to handle the creation of many different body plans? Should I just have a character class with a specific build plan for each race? Or make child classes of a character class each with their own overridden character creation method? Is there an easier way to set up body plans like this?

Similarly, how in depth should I go with individual parts? Would it be necessary to have a child part class for each type (arms, legs, hands, etc.)?

Basically I'm afraid that I'll be keeping track of a lot more than I need to, and the whole project will become over complicated.

Here's my advice.

Just write something that counts the number of body parts that exist and only prohibits something if you run out of body parts for it.

This allows impossible contortions, but so does the Dwarf Fortress wresting system anyway. Having "X is attached to Y is attached to Z" is only really useful if you need to permit dismemberment.

Go ahead and try it but its not worth the tangled complex mess that arises. It also is unnecessarily difficult to serialize for storage. I've gone down this route before, even creating Fucker and Fuckee abstractions to play with the code. It doesn't end with a game made.

So, play with that abstraction but don't expect a game completed and liked by /d/ in 2017.

The avatars are made of parts. If a new part is assigned, say right arm, if the slot is already occupied it will get replaced with the new arm. I agree with the object-oriented approach, but I don't think that you should nest the body parts like that. Instead, each body should contain a pile of parts, and these parts should be organized into slots in a hierarchy of body-shape classes. For example, the most generic body could be a Body class with a single "parts" array containing pointers to all parts of the body. Then you can get more specific with Humanoid, which will have the parts separated into the arrays "heads", "arms", "legs", etc. And then you can drill down further with sub-classes like "Penetrateable", which would inherit the slots from Humanoid but add a "fuckableOrifices" array of parts. Any time an action can only apply to certain bodies, always test this by testing whether the body is an appropriate class and then relying upon the existence of appropriate slots, never by looking through the parts. Descriptions of how parts relate to each other can be handled by methods of each body-shape class..

Mostly just bug fixing.

But I couldn't decide between testing my NPC mechanics and expanding Ovikari content, so I ended up mashing both together.

I'm working on a new scene in which you can attack or interact with one of the alien arachnids and it'll effect its stats dynamically, the creature will remember your actions and will continue to exist until killed. It'll save it's data just like the player and so far the tests are showing my systems are working well enough.

And a couple more tests and then I'll go back to replace all the half-sentence placeholder text with actual content, tie it into some new TF crap and maybe I'll have it ready by Sunday if I don't get too plastered on Saint patties day, since I have the day off. lol

Yeah, that's just a test. It won't much be relevant for this particular creature, but in the future with more complex NPCs there can be flag checks that'll look through an NPCs memory for an index of an event and it'll change dialog or certain parts of a scene in small ways to make old events feel fresher and keep things from feeling like ground-hog day

Fuck an NPC the sameway too many times, maybe they're remember and complain to you the next time you do it, regardless of whether you actually change your choice, the fact that the NPC pipes up leaves a small level of detail that shows it's not just the same thing as last time 100%


I dunno, that's an awful example, but it's a principle I'm testing out anyways. Maybe you fuck up a relationship by just raping them and ignoring any dialog, but NPC so and so has a neural implant that you can hack in their sleep and delete the memory of you guys having sex and so you can start over, or put in new memories. I dunno.

For this particular instance it's just going to determine whether the creature tries to flee when it sees you instead of attacking (when relationship stat is low) or if it gets used to being used as a living sextoy and is more willing to fill you with its mutagenic egg goo.

Just going to see if it's even a thing that's needed or has any potential.

Requirement to give constant incremental updates is part of the problem, not part of the solution.

It made good pre-production possible. It means that fenoxo has to move onto new things before existing things are fully functional. It means pressure to throw in everyone's random shit. Both games have combat systems so terrible that they could be entirely removed and the game would end up better for it. All gameplay is a grind. Even fucking things becomes a grind. There is not a single system where player skill matters.

They are made in swf because... literally no reason. The only thing it might be considered uniquely good at (vector animation) isn't even really utilised.

There's a reason the savegame editing tools are so popular.

That's kinda cool. I got my hopes raised and dashed horribly by one of those octopus hunter-rapist things on one of the early planets in TiTS. Keep your expectations low, if you find something you like you can be pleasantly surprised, if nothing comes of this, nothing lost. The current build probably isn't that different than last time you played it outside of mechanical changes.

About 8 months ago I stopped posting around here, or my regular spots, and just stuck to my blog, intermittently and slowly working on the game without any public releases. The reason was my shitty code was going to dead end development eventually because it couldn't support dynamic npcs or other things like that without everything being manually written each and every time. So I took the time to learn new techniques and rebuild the game into a dynamic subsystem that can generate npcs just as complex as the player character (they all use the same system now, it's just a "isplayer" flag that distinguishes the difference of whose perspective the game is seen through)

It took forever because I'm slow as shit when it comes to writing or coding and I had a lot of life issues going on with figuring out living situations for Lilly and I and death in the family and other junk.

As per usual, this game is just my hobby. So I did it my own way at my own pace. It's good to be back at it again though, even if the transition isn't 100% complete and I'm still a worse coder and writer than fenoxo.

Well, "tolerated forever" is more accurate, haha but that's the "plan". I'm more interested in monsters, TFs, bodies and parasites than I am into furry-waifu stuff anyways. I do want to have some companionship eventually, breeding partners and the like, but it won't be a priority for a while.

Furry, even less so. I'm personally ambivalent about it so some aspects of it are acceptable, but for the most part, your typical cartoony anthro furry doesn't fit in well with my lore/world.

There will probably be animal themed TFs obviously, but getting to a "furry" level will be on the player making their character that way themselves. You won't see any horsedick mcfoxheads or the like walking the streets on the regular like it's normal.

Besides, writing lengthy read-alongs instead of short but interactive scenes just sounds less fun to write or design (despite what my wordiness and inability to summarize implies). Dunno, we'll see how it goes

Visual novels are pretty terrible, the games I mentioned are games with fun combat and interactivity, not the illusion if choice between 3 unlikable girls and a protagonist that you're suppose to identify with automatically. Maybe it's a generalization from the few I've played but games are very different in writing and plot and I find them a lot more enjoyable. Also since the effort is put into multiple routes in VNs they all feel sloppy rather than having a truly linear game you can play once and never have to re-experience any part of to get the full experience.

Anyway, this type of game is made with long-term fun in mind. Years after the game is released, players can still have fun with it by experiencing content they never encountered. The lack of a "best route" is essential for that.

tl;dr you're a game junkie going through them like crack and wondering why all the rum is gone.

Oh, yeah actually. It'll still be a bit till I get around to it because of the other junk I'm working on, but the hormone system is something I really want to flesh out soon.

I'm unsure if I want to set it up to be a constant stream of effects based on the balance of the hormones, like in real life. Or if the body is just naturally stable, and taking hormones or having hormones effected just acts like a long lasting "poison" until it's dosage wares off or delivers diminishing returns.

I'm probably going to do a little bit of both, but I don't want to over complicate it. I'll see.

Eventually though, taking or producing estrogen will trigger the growth of breast tissue, after gaining a certain amount of tissue the game automatically converts them into female breasts, as the body becomes mroe female, the changes will slow and require higher dosages to create bigger things.

After all, women are filled with estrogen at all times and they don't experience constant feminine growth, eventually you need more to overcome the natural threshold.
