Still working on this, very slowly.

I'm desperately trying to get some vanilla dollar dollar, so this has been real low on the priorities list.

Think I've nailed down the gameplay ideas to what I want. It's going to be a trapquest-like game with randomly generated dungeons, with special rooms and characters which will trigger events that cause transformations on your characters and shit.

During the events you have to use WASD to beat a short little rhythm game like Hatsune Miku Project Diva, orgasm denial will make you use the arrows too, I.E: so you need to take your hand off your dick.

During the rhythm game sections, they'll be little looping animations in the background, depending on the scene. The hardest part is going to be soft deformation, but I've got an idea of how to do it in my head.

I'd recommend against yet-another-wanna-be-gamemaker-anon using QSP. Something like 90% of the community is Russian, which makes finding documentation or guides a real pain in the ass. And its sheer age (around a decade?) means its a much less flexible engine than many of the younger ones.

No. Most of the progress I've made since then also hasn't been in easily-user-visible areas either (except the new graphics). A lot of it was architecture for future stuff. Like now so much more of the game is data-driven. There's a house-editor and such for creating building interiors which saves to JSON, etc now. Before it was all hard-coded in C++. And a lot of other stuff is externalized into JSON as well. And then stuff like the preferences (tastes, etc) and associations (explained in that /sci/ post in the pic, using markov chains/graph theory) was new stuff, but there's not much actually hooking into it and using it. Having to switch over the graphics made me un-hardcode a lot of stuff, like towngen for example was hardcoded to have 4 tile wide roads, etc, etc, which kind of doesn't work when you suddenly have 16x16 tiles instead of 32x32 so I had to change how many tiles wide a lot of stuff is. Or stuff to make art-integration easier like layering animations instead of having it all in one, etc. Or optimizations in pathfinding or whatever. But then there's also stuff that used to work (car AI) that I disabled to get the new code/art to work (the code for building the traffic digraph I just commented out since it was too hard-coded to the old town generation code)

Not in that there's art for them or anything, but I do have an oppai variable (that's literally the name.. or was, then I changed it to currentOppai at some point). Although the virgin[], sexskill and currentOppai variables aren't really being used. It generates oppai during random generation but no part of the game reads the variable beyond that. And no one sets sexSkill or reads it at all...

What else should I take into account for when a loli wants to try and leave?

For the thing where she tries to path to her bedroom (from where she used to live), I could break it into two pathing thins.

1) Try and escape the house (where danger is taken into account, like position of the player, which could lead to early termination)

(the way pathing works is I can pass it a predicate that says it you can walk to a tile, and that could say no if the computed danger (how far you are away, or maybe if there's guard dogs??) reaches a threshold, even if the tile is walkable, or maybe I could insert some same-ness thing or distance-walked threshold to simulate the loli getting lost in your underground dungeon)

2) If that succeeds, then see if you could walk to the house from there?

Twine is known because it gets used for basically every on tfgammessite. FreeCities matters because it was the first, and really the only /d/ game to actually push the boundaries of the engine.

Twine is more than enough for most games you're going to want to make, but if you're planning something like FreeCities, you should look for another engine. iirc Twine saves the state of all variables every time you change a page, and unlike the language its built on, HTML5, it doesn't utilize local variables, so every variable you create will be active and lagging your game until you turn it off. Free Cities gets super laggy lategame because the game is trying to manage burgeoning groups of incredibly complex variables, in addition to what Twine is doing already. If your goal is to make something like FC, just go ahead and learn HTML instead, because Twine simply cannot handle that type of game.

However, for your typical adventure game this won't really matter at all because you're only going to be changing a couple variables at a time, and especially if you plan on making a game like CoC, most of these variables are going to be very simple. Twine is a very good starting point for your first game, everything is simple to use, the documentation had a lot of depth and its easy to find, and because its built on HTML you can expand your coding tools with custom macros as your knowledge increases

Crazy? It's just passing a short predicate (which is a natural use-case of a lambda) to my pathfinding system. Although I might move that leave-chance stuff out of there in case I use it elsewhere.

I'm using my own engine written in C++, but the graphics/windowing/input/audio is handled by SFML (which is a wrapper over OpenGL and provides window creation, font drawing, sprite drawing, keyboard input, and other low-ish level stuff like that). Although I did write my own sprite-font, since when I switched from 640x480 to 512x384 I shrunk the font size down a bunch and ended up going with a custom 5x7 sprite font, although I still support SFML's sf::Font/sf::Text and have a wrapper around both.

And personally, I actually feel that Unreal is a bit easier to work with than Unity for doing "outside the original scope of this engine" stuff. So far only the player can initiate dialogue. If you're close to one it'll say "Press E to talk".

But what about when a loli wants to start a conversation? What should I do? Should I just have her run up and the dialogue GUI pop up with an option like "Ignore her"/"Leave", or should I have it only pop up a button callout like "Samantha wants to talk to you, press E to respond", similar to when you're close in general? Although I guess that wouldn't be very noticeable compared to just regularly being close.

What should I do? Have a small black box appear over her hear like "Hey, minster! Can I ask you something?", then just have the regular "Press E to talk" callout appear, except when you do you're taken to the dialogue node about her asking you something, rather than the regular root?

At first I just thought about the her initiating the dialogue box, but that could be kind of taking the control from the player.

Maybe it could depend? Like if she forces an action on you, it could auto-bring-up the menu, but if she's just asking/saying something to initiate a conversation, it could pop up a small text over her head that you have to press E to respond to?

I think a solution would be to have the kid follow the player around for a few seconds with "... " box over their head to let the player know they want something. At first I was thinking you sould maybe use "!" but That maybe the player would think they have been found out and try get away from them.

An interesting problem. I would also say that that kind of event should have a minimum time between it triggering again so the player doesnt get bothered too foten or have easy targets too often.

Just use the basic principle that every player variable can change, and all of those stats will always change gradually over time. An anus used once will eventually reduce, an anus used every day for a month will stay large.

Ok.. you are still going to need a graphics library of some sort so you can create your map. I am going to leave aside how you are going to select elements from your tileset, and deal with the first problem, storing your map (in a way that it can expand).

If your map is fixed, the dimensions of your array is going to be static. But you want the map to grow, meaning that the dimensions of your array is going to have to change, and the existing map copied from the old array to the new array. A raster map is probably not going to work, so let's think about this another way.

There needs to be a center point of the map (0,0) and other tiles are at + and - x and y offsets from the center point. Hardly anything. I've wasted most of today attempting to import the work I've done on the entity system over to the original Elysium file.

Unfortunately I've been running into some crazy errors that stopped it from compiling.

Apparently it ended up being some sort of outdated memory allocation problem with flash's built in compiler. Plenty of fixes for it if you have cs5 but I have cs3 and every where's a lot less helpful for that.

Found some help though and edited some system environmental variables on my OS to allow the javascript compiler a higher memory allocation.

Seems to have fixed it.

So, I'm just now starting the official transition into the core files so I can test it all and replace all the old outdated code with the new stuff, continue working to wrap up the missing systems in the entities and push out an unstable test build

yeah. The sad thing is the files aren't even that large or complex. Its just double its size at the moment because I have the old systems and the new ones simultaneously, it's size will fall back down once I start gouging out the old junk code.
The "safely" limits for the java calculations were put into cs3 back when there was less than 1gb of average ram available for compelling, it only allows for a few mb for a total code weight. I just doubled the limit and its smooth sailing now.

I keep track of nutrition down to a macronutrient/calorie level. Just today I was writing code for it. I plan on having some inbreeding mechanics too, but in a natural sort of fashion. Like maybe a set of, say, 10 recessive genes for negative traits that occur with probability, say, 5% in the general population. So a randomly generated person would have a 0.05*0.05 = 0.25% chance of having the negative trait, but if there's too much inbreeding, you'd have a higher chance of this. Yes, but it'll be an expensive upgrade you'd have to get (money is planned to be something you get by producing cp / selling or whoring out lolis on the black market, which carries some amount of risk. Oh, and perhaps you can even skip hours, if the player wants to fast forward to a later part of the day. Maybe that's controlled via a bed or computer interaction?
