This is something I wonder about a little bit.

None of the "good" artists seem to have a very long lifespan in the community. They'll be around for a few years or so, then vanish into the ether. But on the other hand, there are a bunch of poorer-quality artists (for lack of a better word) who have been part of the community for much longer time frames (decades in some cases).

My question is, why don't any of these higher-tier artists stick around to produce fetish art on a more long-term, continuous basis?

I'm sure there are a lot of factors. A number of these artists seem to have gone on to get proper illustrative work, and don't want to risk their employment making porn on the side. I'm sure others have just naturally gone through the same cycle as many folks in the community - the appeal has worn off, they moved on with their lives (family, career, etc) such that they don't have time to produce high quality fetish art anymore, etc. And I'm sure there are some social aspects as well - the "good" artists might get hounded more, the ratio of time-spent-creating vs. kudos-from-the-community has long been skewed in the direction of quantity over quality, etc.

I dunno, it just seems a little weird to me that I can't think of any "good" artists who have stuck around long term, while there are plenty of examples of the opposite.

Maybe it's just confirmation bias on my end. And I guess it's also simply a numbers game - there are significantly fewer "good" artists than the alternative.

It's actually hard to get a good handle on this. For reference, pic related are the reported ages from the recent G/t survey that went around all the various size websites. It was made by the G/t folks (who tend to be more vanilla, even non-sexual, and have a tumblr slant), so that definitely skews the results younger than you might expect (see the size of the 17 or younger category). But from past polls I've seen on Giantess City and the like, those who participate are usually focused in the late-teens to low/mid-20s, so I don't think it's horribly inaccurate.

I assume that part of this is just that younger people have more time to spend on this sort of stuff (and are more keen on spending their time on it). I assume many of the older folks simply don't bother with anything except consuming the content they're interested in - I bet they don't bother to post comments, chat, answer polls, etc.

Because this is exactly what happened with me. And it's something I'm still very interested by, especially given that they're basically polar opposites. Lots of people talk about how they think the giantess/shrinking fetish is all about dominance, etc, but it seems strange that someone would want to be totally dominant over a tiny person ... but also totally dominated by a giant person. So I've always figured there was a lot more to it than that (the size fetishes come in all sorts of flavors after all, so this isn't surprising in and of itself).

But I think it's also interesting in that I've come to these fetishes from two very different angles. Like most other people in this thread, my SW fetish seems to have been innate. I had it since I was a young child, there were no sexual connotations to it until I hit puberty. It has seemingly just always been there. I like the general composition. It works. Maybe slide her a bit more to the left so it's closer to the golden third.

The main problem I see with the picture is that you seem to be in a copy instead of form mentality. There is a lot of foreshortening inconsistency (the clothes slack weirdly around the torso downwards, the arm and hand does not match the foreshortening with the our-right leg and the our-left leg is flat as all hell in what is supposed to be a strong PoV foreshortening. The hair does not drop downwards due to gravity either, which implies you mindlessly copied the head from reference. The foot also reminds me of a different artist and once again, lacks integrating into the final piece. It looks too skewed compared to her body and the side of the heel especially melds into a formless shape that only adds confusion to the form. The knee also feels off compared to the foot. It implies the foot would slope downwards in line with the vertical center of the leg, which adds to the "broken ankle" look.) Focus on form more, use references for hands and poses like that in general (and the wrist, as the connection looks unnatural.) I like the color choices, they remind me of that one Jap, especially the foot shading.

It's a mix out of the Pen, Softbrush, Hardbrush, Opaque watercolor.

Using a base shade color, a more satured and red one for the blood circulation, white-yellowish for reflected light and rim light. Later light blue one for reflected light from the clothing. First I need to correct them.
You should never go just all soft, instead use a mix of hard and soft. Difficult to explain ^^ If an object close to another one throws a shadow it's more a sharp shadow. Then depending on the material of the surrounding you will mostly have an 70 to 30% light relationship. So often 30% are reflected by the enviroment. And you should try to imagine the surface as good as you can
