IIRC, the general feel for Super Dreadnought Girl is that it was awesome for the first few chapters, but kept getting progressively less interesting.

Personally, I do enjoy engaging stories with size elements, but they have to be just that: engaging. It's nice if the author acknowledges giantess fetishism, giving a wink and throwing a bone here and there, but it's not required. I'm able to compartmentalize that sort of thing, I guess. Shrink High and Felarya both used to have TV Tropes pages before The Great Purge. And also - the entire TV Tropes community agreed some time ago that Fetish Fuel pages were usually just cringey stories, so they deleted all of them.

But I do agree that Super Dreadnought Girl was pretty "mainstream" - or not fully intended as fetishy. There's a few nods, but it's mostly innocent. That's totally fair; I recognize not everything was made to target my dick. And I feel like, plotwise, the use of monsters was a big help. It also makes the romance and sweet scenes stand out more.

But I've seen a number of works specifically targeted towards giantess fetishists that let the plot get in the way of the faps. Writers can get wrapped up in their own worlds and focus so much on making the story serious that they forget what attracted the audience, and have nothing to fall back on if the plot fails. I can respect that; it's very difficult to strike a balance between an engaging story on its own merits and one from the fetish standpoint, and examples that do both are quite rare and dependent on one's own tastes (I can think of one or two examples that others might laugh at me for suggesting). Ultimately, people like us will probably always have conflicting opinions on plot and porn presence; and different people will come to stories for different things. Sometimes, the same person will be there for a different thing depending on the time of day. Even as someone who considers the arousing parts the "base" of the meal, I recognize that a solid plot will leave the whole experience much more memorable.

When I look at it this way, the problem in the mentality I used is that I'm assuming what I like is what everyone likes, and fetish works are being made specifically for me. In the end, it's up to the creator how they want the story to go, how much effort they put in it, and how much focus they put on it.

Idea 1: Portal devices exist, but the user can choose what size the entrance/exit portal is and you conform to the exit size. The main char might get one and share it with a girl.

Also, there's a cam site that uses portals that connect over the internet. There are vore/size models that vary widely with how they treat the tinies that come thru their portal.

Idea 2: some % of the population is born with a shrinking disease. At any age (usually puberty) the shrinking begins. It can be instantaneous or verrrrry slow (taking weeks/months). It usually stops at around an inch but can be stopped early (3-8 inches) with drugs made to combat it

The shrunk are are guarded by a normal sized person, usually a hired caretaker or a family member.

In the country where the story takes place, it's legal to eat/enslave/crush/smother shrunken people if they're willing. However, there's a loophole. If the shrunken are accidentally put in danger of a normal sized girl, it's legal for them to be property of them.

The second idea is plenty flexible, but I'm more interested in the first one because I haven't really seen a story using that sort of scenario before, whereas I've seen the second one plenty of times.

Good idea to keep the main character fairly generic and malleable. I'd say leave the option open for people to create their own characters but also create at least one or two of your own. The thing with creating characters is avoiding that trap where someone makes options for a dozen or more characters but none of them end up with anything to go off of from there.
