I seriously hope these fuckers actually get to DO SOMETHING in the finale

we know at least one Nebulon B gets btfo but there's at least two present for the battle of atollon, and I'd love to see the Dornean gunships get some action too

the Quasar Fire is likely toast, but I hope it goes out in a blaze of glory and takes some bastards with it
>>
>>90902400
I hope this doesn't sound heartless of me but I can't feel too bad about the death of someone that I had already thought was dead for a solid decade.
>>
>>90902205
Its not that bad

Theres plenty of comfy threads during hiatus.

And it's never really hiatus, we have tons of comics and such releasing consistently.

>>90902400
I'm sad he's gone, but his death scene was kino, so I cant complain

>>90902236
true
>>
>>90902400
Why does his death seem more significant than Han Solo?
>>
>>90902786
Because Kenobi finally killed the man who basically ruined his life and he stayed calm and collected about it

it was much better than the han solo scene, in my opinion. I liked it. but this just felt like art. Episode didn't justify the last two minutes, though.

To be honest, in terms of actual screen time (movies and shows), we see a lot more character growth and change in Obi Wan and Maul than we do with Han. We see the two of them suffer some truely terrible shit and it's satisfying to see that struggle finally resolved and to see the completion of their character arc.
Plus it's hard to make a more badass and satisfying death than what we saw.

Obi-wan was supposed 25 in episode I.
Assumedly Maul was older than Obi-wan? But Maul's actor was 25 when shooting.
Idk who fucking knows at this point.
>>
>>90903068
Plus, these are characters that have faced each other in combat numerous times by now. It was either going to be a quick and the the point duel or a long drawn out affair, like most of the fighting of the PT era. As much as I disliked parts of Maul's post-TPM appearances, he had an actual arc and actual development. Same with Obi-Wan. Thanks to TCW and Rebels, we got a lot out of the two.
>>
>>90903996
He was more loyal to himself. He just wanted to make a name for himself and GAAALLLEEENNN and to ride off into the sunset, but then galen found out that Celestial Power was the death star and peaced the fuck out with Lyra.

Krennic was super competent, it was his trying to out-tarkin tarkin with baiting him into a fight with Saw that got him on Tarkins shit list.

Check the little scale box, if this is intentional legitimate scaling to an ISD, this gives Home One an approximate length of 1900 meters, far more fitting for the "largest ship of the Alliance fleet" than the 1200-1300 typically given for average mon cal cruiser length and more accurately fitting with what's seen in ROTJ, though not to the extreme estimates and calculations of 3200 meters.

Maul should have died then instead. The fact is that there's not much you can actually DO with Maul since his death is kind of built in to expectations.

Ventress hasn't got that kind of problem. She can pull off the same Dathomir Legacy bs without the assumption being that she'll die from it.

I mean technically he did, and that's the beauty of it. If he'd just let Krennic blow up the entire moon as the Director wanted, boom, no Jyn, no Cassian, no Partisans, no Rook, no message. His reason for the change? To countermand Krennic in his moment of glory and chastise him. While the plot is otherwise progressing below them the two men were in a pissing contest. I love how after the successful destruction of Jedha City Krennic just stalks past Tarkin and makes sure to bump into the man. It's such a bitch move followed shortly by Tarkin saying that he'll tell the Emperor directly and seize control.

Imperial ambitions. So often they prove the salvation of the Rebel cause even when the Rebels have no clue it's happening.

Jedha is just a moon. As it was, they passed it off as a mining accident, though one can only wonder what type of mining accident could cause devastation on that magnitude.

"And in this footage you can clearly see, members of the illustrious Imperial Senate, Ensign Mebbek sticking his penis into the main bore that runs all the way to Jedha's core. This act, we are lead to believe, aroused the ire of an ancient Jedi volcano god who proceeded to run amok until put down by superior Imperial firepower, all praise be to the Emperor's glory."

This story holds together perfectly!

It's interesting to explore Maul's interaction with death. Honestly his wound in TPM seems worse than what he got in Twin Suns, but he's able to pull on a wealth of sorcerous Sith knowledge and he's just so full of intense, focused hate that the Dark Side of the Force is very much with him. The cost of this is that he is thrown into an abyss of madness.

This is a bad time for Maul. But his sanity gets restored and he regains his focus and ambition. His drive compels him to make a play for the Sith, but when this falls on its ass we see this iconic badass of a character cry and beg for mercy. He fears Sheev is about to send him to oblivion. He has been there, and he. Does. NOT. want to go back.

Further shenanigans ensue, and he loses his mother, his empire, everything, gets stranded on Malachor, etc. His drive is gone, and he engages in a desperate search for SOMETHING to cling to; some reason to keep going. His quest takes him to Kenobi, the personification of his downfall, and Kenobi dispatches him with ease. His hate has allowed him to recover from worse, yes, but he's. Just. So. SPENT!

Oblivion seems a welcome respite from all of it.

kinda. i haven't seen the first 3 movies (4,5,6) in over 10 years and only remember bits of the prequels. i actually only started watching Rebels because my friend recommended it. i haven't seen the clone wars yet either.

Yeah, I think deep down Maul was ready for it. I don't think he intentionally wanted to die, but there was some unconscious part of him that was okay with the possibility of losing. He accepts his defeat in an unusually gracious manner. He doesn't lash out, he doesn't try one last attempt to take Obi-Wan with him, he just kind of accepts that he lost, he's going to die, and he's made a sort of peace with that.
>>
>>90906266
I think he wanted to settle it, one way or another. Obviously his ideal outcome was winning, but he just wants it to be over with.
>>
>>90906266
The thought of the chosen one being on Tattooine probably made it easier. He probably thought "well if Kenobi beat Vader and now he's protecting the chosen one, then the Sith will surely be destroyed"
>>
>>90905982
Did you miss Saw Gererra, Maul dying, the Hammerheads from Rebels showing up in the RO fleet (and the Ghost?)

Future spin-offs will also get a lot of connection with Rebels.

And I wont be surprised if Luke/Han/Leia start showing up once we get past ANH
>>
>>90906048
Holy shit dude, you have a LOT of catching up.

I would say right now to stop what you're doing and go through the movies.

THEN TCW

THEN REBELS (Watch Rogue One once you've caught up with Rebels, that'll be a nice payoff)
>>
>>90906048
>>90906381

If you're not committed to that sort of task and enjoying Rebels as is, I don't see much of a problem though.

You may be watching stuff out of order and that might put a damper on things but honestly if you're enjoying the story of Rebels I'd say keep at it and make your own way.

It's important to know that Star Wars: The Clone Wars is incredibly relevant, but you shouldn't sacrifice your enjoyment and disrupt your viewing of Rebels to start an entirely new series, IMO.

You can always rewatch Rebels after watching TCW and come to appreciate how it pays homage and how the universe has continuity.

That's my opinion.

>>
>>90906520
Just know that Rebels isn't reliant on The Clone Wars. You don't need to watch one series to understand the other... although it does help and there are a number of Easter Eggs that can be missed.

Also, they are definitely planning to have Rebels tie into the new trilogy. Maybe more blatant cameos, maybe actual roles. We'll see.
>>
>>90906574
It's good in a hilarious way. Definitely not intentional. The rest are fine.
>>
>>90906490
You've been memed on hard, and TFA being shitty gave you a better retrospective of the prequels, which are actually decent movies that expanded the universe much more meaningfully.

>>90906520
Rebels is good, but it draws HEAVILY from the past of the franchise. It has stuff taken from 1-7, and continues plotlines left off from The Clone Wars (which is as good, if not much BETTER than Rebels)

You will enjoy Rebels much better saving it for last.

Then Rogue One actually has a few things that carry over from Rebels/TCW, and is the most recent theatrical release. It might be tempting to watch it soon, but I'd suggest saving that for after Rebels.

Obviously, this is just my suggestion. This franchise is known for releasing movies and such out of chronological order, so many people find that watching stuff out of order is fine. And for the most part thats true, the stories stand alone well enough.

But there is also something very satisfying watching things in a proper order. Shit, if you really want to do things right, watch TCW between 2 and 3, do the entire franchise in order, I guarantee you'll appreciate Episode 3 more.

>>
>>90906624
It does, but that's not necessarily the same thing as relying on it. You can understand Rebels perfectly fine without having seen TCW. With the possible exceptions of one or two things.

I'd say that's really only true for the first season. Season 2 onward it starts becoming a bit more important to have watched TCW. Not super crucial but the tidbits that you only appreciate if you've seen TCW grow from being small easter eggs to being important story/character points. You can probably watch seasons 2/3 without having watched TCW but there's a lot of stuff that won't mean anything to you (plus Maul's story relies really heavily on the audience having seen TCW, moreso than even Ahsoka's, since with her you at least get the gist of it thought it has far less impact if you didn't watch TCW).

Parts of AOTCs are fine. My main beef is how badly Anakin's story is done. Okay, that's part of the point because he's out of his depth, i.e. he has no fucking clue how to woo a girl he likes, and forbidden love makes a man do crazy shit. Padme is little better given she's been groomed to rule since childhood and has never really had a chance to be a normal person, especially not on Naboo which practically worshipped her after the Trade Federation was defeated. So yeah, it makes sense, it's logically consistent. But does it make compelling cinema? Not...really. At all. Like god damn.

Honestly in this way the whole Auralnauts friendzone vid made it better, especially pointing out Anakin's face when Padme pulls back from nearly making out with him.

RO did a really good job of maintaining a sense of menace from the Death Star. It didn't even really need to since we already know it's a powerful and scary weapon but it's highlighted so well. Even its attacks, despite being less than full power, give that visceral feeling of how powerful it is.

By contrast TFA treats Starkiller like another chore they need to get through. There's no sense of grandeur or menace there.

>Palpatine: Do you like Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes?
>Maul: They're OK.
>Palpatine: Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sport came out in '19 BBY, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Max Rebo, but I think Figrin has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor.
>Maul: Hey Palpatine.
>Palpatine: Yes, Maul?
>Maul: Why are there copies of the sith code all over the place, d-do you have a pet? A little lothcat or something?
>Palpatine: No, Maul.
>Maul: Is that a robe?
>Palpatine: Yes it is! In '15 bby, Figrin released this, Ultimate Power, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "A Certain Point of view", a song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about the irrationality of love, and the importance of high ground, it's also a personal statement about the band itself.
>[raises lightsaber above head]
>Palpatine: Hey Maul!

AotC is the only prequel I legitimately do not enjoy. Some of the action scenes are good but the rest is a drag, and Anakin is fucking horrible in it.
>>
>>90910310
I think Obi-Wan's investigation storyline was pretty solid in Clones.
Also the battle of Geonosis saved the entire film, it was good finally seeing Jedi in real action after all this time.
Also Jango > all.

But you're right about the rest, Anakin's romance goes from cringy to unsettling.
>>
>>90904692
I disagree. Tarkin and Vader were looking at the bigger picture. Krennic was not. Krennic was in it for personal glory, and would blow up the whole planet, he'd go parading it around before Palpatine could get rid of the Senate. Tarkin knew about this well in advance, so did Vader. Vader wanted to draw the rebels out so he could track them to their base, and Tarkin wanted to be sneaky and subtle so their 20 year plan was not destroyed by one guy sperging out. Especially when they knew how much was at stake. Krennic was demanding shit, and was being pissy with people who knew things way above his pay grade and were operating at a galactic level, not the local level Krennic was dealing with.

Good thing. Melee weapons shouldn't used so often unless you are Jedi (or other Force Sensitive) or someone fighting Jedi.

In KOTOR it feld like Bioware were lazy and didnt made to much change with NWN mechanics and used melee as often as ranged weapons with only exuse of shields and special lightsaber metal to make it more belieable.

You know, melee weapons are used since the dawn of time in our real world by non-Force sensitives.

That was actually a beautiful moment from Maul.

>He will... Avenge us...

He was so bitter, so fucking angry, but in the end he admitted it wasn't Obi-Wan that ruined his life. It was the Sith. And they ruined Obi-Wan's life too, and he realized that. And in his dying breath, he chose to take solace with Obi-Wan, to acknowledged their shared trauma, and to put faith in him that the Chosen One would wipe the Sith out of existence. To do what he failed on Malachor.

Considering the new Canon is being built upon WEG stuff too thanks to Pablo being a huge fanboy, and they talk about it almost every Rebels Recon, I think most of us are generally aware.

That being said, anon is right about Lucas not liking Vibroweapons.

Initially he didn't want them to exist, but it seems the trade-off is that they are canon now, but they absolutely can not deflect a Lightsaber, it takes much more energy to do that.

It was going to happen in Twilight of the Apprentice, but Filoni had to crack down and cut it out.

The Recon (both for that episode, and Twin Suns) explains how it was important to try and avoid the fanservicy stuff. Sometimes what you want to see isn't going to make for the more rich and memorable storytelling.

Having Maul never fight Vader, and die swiftly and in Kenobi's arms, may genuinely be more impactful and memorable than a big Sith showdown.

Besides, we already got the big Sith fight with Sheev/Maul, so I can definitely see why Filoni was steering away from it.

Initially Vader chose to fight Obi-Wan on the Death Star, which, since it is in space, is always above the high ground making it higher ground. Vader used Obi-Wan's trick against him from his experience on Mustafar, however, Obi-Wan, foreseeing his inevitable defeat via this underhanded tactic, chose to lose the battle and win the war by gaining permanent moral and spiritual high ground through the sacrifice of his physical existence.

You don't need to watch the movies to understand and enjoy the cartoons, so why would it be any different vice versa? As long as the story is told well enough, you should be able to understand everything just fine. It's just even better if you've seen all the movies and cartoons.

/tv/ wasn't that bad about it, they were complaining because Saw was a nigger and all they'd seen was the promo images of the Diversity Cast of the 6 main characters instead of the shitload of other characters in the movie

that and combined with those sjw shill tweets by that dumbass writer who got publicly chastised by Disney

I've always been curious about this, and this seems to be the best thread to ask this in, but what do Star Wars fans think of the Gundam franchise?

Everywhere I look it's always one of those stupid versus threads, but never really a statement of how SW fans perceive Gundam.

I remember a year ago there was tons of semi-off topic Gundam discussions. Lots of overlap between Star Wars fans it seems.

Thanks. I have a few other things. Model kit, a Vita case, chopsticks, Zeon flag, and even reproduced a screenshot as an animation cell for a class assignment.
This also is fine with my Star Wars love, with me going to my second Celebration convention in 3 weeks, plus some SW figs on the desk too lol.
Somehow they both also relate to Transformers somehow, forming a weird fandom triforce for me.

I'm actually really enjoying Aftermath's audio book. The Norra parts are sort of boring but I'm loving all the different little stories about the end of the Empire and Sloane's story is legitimately interesting especially after reading A New Dawn. I could see where it would be shit to read and I think Chuck is a fag irl but the story is one of my favorite nucanon stories so far. I'm legitimately excited to read the next 2 books with Han, Chewie, and Rax.

Well I definitely wouldn't say its one of the best canon stories, but the audiobooks are very well made and certainly salvage it.

If you're managing to enjoy Aftermath, then you'll probably really like the sequels, because they do pick up and Wendig does improve for what its worth.

I'm getting through Empires End now, and its meh so far, but I do hear that i picks up really well.

>Well I definitely wouldn't say its one of the best canon stories, but the audiobooks are very well made and certainly salvage it.
Well I've only read a few other nucanon books (LotS, Tarkin, all 3 Journey to TFA books, all Wild Space books except the newest one, Dark Disciple, Catalyst, and A New Dawn) and the only ones where I don't have to drudge through it and actually end up excitedly reading it in like 2 days were Tarkin, Weapon of a Jedi, Catalyst, and Aftermath.

I wonder how much of that story is Chuck's doing though. I imagine from planning Episode 7 and simply shooting the shit with Filioni George made some lore pertaining to the end of the Empire. Then JJ obviously created stuff like Yupe Tashu leading the Acolytes of the Beyond and the nature of the Battle of Jakku. I'm sure when TFA's story was finalized the story group thought tons of this stuff up. I'm thinking that the only input Chuck had was the main characters, adding in Snap's backstory, and obviously writing the book.

The problem was it wasn't sneaky at all. It was pretty damn blatant how the Death Star was present and used on Jedha. Damn thing eclipsed the sun, for crying out loud! That was pure showmanship.

And yet by limiting the target area there WOULD be survivors, witnesses. There WERE survivors, witnesses. Not just the people who would become Rogue One but we know there will be an upcoming novel about hunting the rest of Saw's Partisans. And it should be noted that we saw ships at Saw's compound.

You're losing sight of what happens in ANH. This wasn't some new change that inspired him to blow up a planet. This wasn't to destroy the rebellion once and for all. After all, when Leia gave him an inadequate target he just took out Alderaan instead as it was a more effective demonstration to the galaxy. Statements, manifestos, it's all just window dressing to the power struggle between the two men. You have to remember that he wasn't just overriding Krennic's orders, he was doing so in front of the command staff present to witness the first firing of the Death Star. Why wasn't Vader present? Why wasn't the Emperor present? Don't take Tarkin's words at face value, he wasn't sparing Krennic any potential embarrassment. A failure at that point would have done just as well to ruin Krennic's career and allowed Tarkin to use it as proof the project needed more suitable to run it. What Tarkin worried about, for a given value of worry, was Krennic succeeding and parlaying that into greater prestige, power and rank. Everything in that scene was Tarkin working to limit the magnitude of Krennic's success right down to the smaller scale destruction. All of this so even when Krennic wins Tarkin can go to the Emperor and weasel the Death Star away, just as he's wanted to since Catalyst.

The Aftermath books were actually created from notes that George Lucas left the LSG.

I don't actually think a whole lot of it was Wendigs doing
>>
Holy fuck just listened to Yupe Tashu explain the Sith philosophy in Aftermath. He totally gets it wrong by thinking it was a brutal realist philosophy based on doing what's absolutely necessary to save the galaxy from chaos. He then goes onto explain that the Jedi philosophy was acting good in public while secretly plotting power grabs but he doesn't necessarily think this is a bad thing given that he earlier states his belief in the merit of deception. He even thinks the Jedi legitimately tried to overthrow Palpatine. I could easily see how the Acolytes start as a 'Sith' group until Snoke and Kylo Ren join in and say 'Uhh actually the Sith didn't believe in any of that shit. But fuck it you guys are on the right track with the realist stuff and the merits of both the dark and light side so we're just gonna reform you into the Knights of Ren.' Perfectly explains how this group could have obviously been a splinter group of the Sith but then end up turning into something else as not to mess with the Chosen One prophesy. The Knights of Ren aren't power hungry crazy people who want to destroy the galaxy. They legitimately want to save people but using a sort of Machiavellian realist mindset. Obviously they need to be stopped because they trample on the freedoms of the galaxy but they're not as big of a threat as the Sith were.

Three years of just one single writer working on it. Christie Golden has only ever been serviceable at best. She is not Luceno/Zahn/Miller tier by any stretch of the imagination.

As an episode of TCW, it would have gone through further revision by George and Dave working together, like all the other episodes of TCW. Most likely, the script would have been written by Katie Lucas, since she was pretty much the one in charge of Ventress, and yeah, that would lead to the usual Katie Lucas Ventress episode issues, but overall it would have turned out considerably better than it did.

the imperial senate still had some power at the time. I figured they waited until the senate was dissolve to actually nuked alderaan.

Most likely Alderaan resisted the imperial military governor and significance in the republic served as a warning to other world.

I mean in their ideology. The Sith ideology was to destroy the Living Force and control existence itself from the Cosmic Force which would destroy existence itself since the Cosmic Force needs the Living Force to survive. Palpatine had the means to do this too. The Knights of Ren ideologically want to save the galaxy but in brutal means that would cause tons of suffering (which isn't natural). They're a threat but in the end they don't want to literally destroy the galaxy like the Sith do.

Sheev had been plotting the death of the Senate for a long time since before there was an Empire when the office of Regional Governor was created. The Death Star was a huge part of maintaining peace, sure, but we saw that even when it was destroyed the Empire didn't crumble. They maintained.

At any rate I cannot see Jedha taking the place of Alderaan, but it doesn't need to be. Destroy Jedha City or the moon itself, neither proves there is a Death Star. The Empire could just shrug and say, "Oh well, one of those weird things that happen in the galaxy." Quarantine the area with military vessels to investigate any potential threat and deny access to any teams the Senate might empower to investigate on their behalf. Does the Empire even need to buy that time? Not really. They didn't build the Death Star to keep it secret.

We never saw everything that was just in the limited view the OT gave us. We didn't see Home One on Hoth, after all, but nu canon shows us it was part of the Rebellion since before Alderaan was destroyed. There's no reason for us to see a gunship that often and the only troop insertion mission in the OT was on Endor and used a captured Imperial shuttle.

Not my point. Everybody who knew something about EU before, knew about vibrobladed (not to mention anybody who is not blind would notice melee weapons in movies). But KOTOR have it used regularny like normal weapons even by galactic armies , both on planets and space ships, with blasters adn other range weapons. And not just space warriors guys who had 'muh honor and glory' exuse for useing or something.

>>90911378
And currently using melee weapons (unless its right circumstances) in combat is just stupid or suitical and get you shot quickly.

Literally all i wanted from TFA, this battle right here.
>>
>>90921373
Because in order to have those eyes you have to be completely immersed in the dark side and Kylo Ren practices both the dark and light side. The reason why he was so adamantly against that call to the light in TFA was because he knew that important events were about to transpire and remembered when Vader's sudden turn royally fucked up the Empire so he's trying to stay in his absolutely non compassionate mode in order to rationally act in the coming days. Think of it like how Jedi try not to feel anger as not to act irrationally and accidently harm innocents but the opposite where Knights of Ren try not to feel love so they don't act irrational and lead to the destruction of the First Order which they believe saves innocents from being harmed.

Ultimately Snoke, Kylo Ren, and the Knights of Ren believe in brutal Machiavellian realism as opposed to gaining ultimate power like the Sith believe.

During World War II, Cadillac was obliged to shift from automobile production to the manufacture of tanks and planes, and the North American P51 Mustang series was one of their products.

Specifically, Dave Filoni referred to the heroic salvation moment from movies such as Saving Private Ryan where P51s appear to btfo whatever Axis villains are threatening the protagonists. That's the kind of moment he wants to save the chronologically first canonical appearance of X-wings for.

>If and when X-Wings do show up it’ll probably be awesome. Kiri Hart and I always talk about Empire of the Sun. We love the movie Empire of the Sun. And to me the X-Wing moment, this is probably a giveaway, will be like the Cadillac in the sky moment when the P-51s come to the camp where the kid is. It has to have that kind of feeling behind it. That you’re so excited to see these things. Then they have value again. As opposed to just saying, oh look there’s an X-Wing. You know, I want them to appear in a moment of oh my gosh, I’ve been waiting for this.

The problem is it is hard to tell the angles, exactly, and even at 720p the clip is pretty bad. But the sides look the same, not to mention we see an Interdictor present and the Rebels would have to destroy it to escape, so that's all the proof I need!

I'm a bit more excited that it looks like they're getting some more use out of Maul's shuttle. I love when they reuse things they capture, one of the reasons I worry about the poor captured Light Carrier. I've always been a bit bummed that they never reused the Gozanti used to rescue Kanan in season 1 OR the Imperial cargo vessel Chopper and AP-5 captured.

Don't let it bother you, the reaction far outweighed the "crime" but I suspect it was either one anon and/or just a usual memetic moment. I mean people could have been seriously triggered, but I doubt that. Kind of a big whoop thing, you know?

>For Chrissakes I just assumed the thing was official because it was the only video of it I'd seen linked in these threads and it had Star Wars Rebels for the channel name
Then you're the most gullible sheep I've ever seen.

You do know what "Kotor era" means, right? Or maybe you don't know what 1:1 actually means? They aren't the same ships, either from the Kotor era (as in the time Kotor takes place which is actually quite a bit earlier than the movies, just an FYI if this is somehow something you are not aware of) or using the exact same design.

Are you wrong on purpose for the purpose of baiting or are you genuinely retarded? You might need your eyes checked since you apparently can't tell the difference between the images posted and the Hammerheads from Rebels and KOTOR and insist on spouting random meaningless terms from the EU.

>>90923626
But that's wrong senpai, if you'd actually paid attention to what I said instead of making up strawmans to appear right and appease your ego on a Moldavian Rape Emporium Forum, you could control+F
>no because the new Interdictor has nothing in common with the older models, it's based purely on a Joe Johnston concept art design
the design which I subsequently posted and which was rendered into Rebels significantly differently than any EU creation

TIEs are more like Zeroes. A primarily carrier based fighter that could excel in its time and niche, but fell behind as more advanced aircraft were introduced.

Its just that the poor TIE never got to have its glory days because it was introduced way, way, WAY too late, after the equivalent of features like self-sealing fuel tanks were already common on everything else.

For what it is worth the Immobilizer 418 is still canon but only appears in Tarkin and Heir to the Jedi, and as such their visual appearance is vague. Yet not the same ship we saw in Rebels, which was undergoing field tests, so definitely different.
