I rolled my eyes. What a lot of people forget about Y is that it is post apoc fiction. And like all post apoc fiction there is a running undercurrent of fuck you humanity and Yorrick in particular. People don't take actions because it makes sense from a storytelling or character perspective but because it causes the most conflict or pain for Yorrick.

Stuff like Dawn of the Dead at least has some fun with the concept but the realistic style of the comic works against all the artificial tragedy on display.

For all the shit the ending gets, much of it deserved, this is an actually great issue. I like the dynamic of the older Yorick and the pacing of it all and Yorick escaping off on his own to do I guess whatever the fuck he wants.

If the ending had less pointless bullshit about pushing Yorick's face into the shit because no one is ever allowed to have anything nice in a BKV story, this ending would be stellar. 355 doesn't even necessarily have to still be alive or make it out of the climax, but stuff like Beth and Hero getting together really only highlights the weakness of the other stuff. It's just suffering for sufferings sake.

So this was my first time reading this.
Really enjoyed it.

I don't really get the hate for the ending, I liked it. I had been spoiled on 355's death and Ampersand's death before though.

Biggest shock for me was when Beth said she was originally gonna break up with him. Pretty big gut punch.

I knew 355's death was coming, and it was sad, but honestly, I never really liked their relationship that much anyway. Church Beth was 100% best girl. One of my favorite characters.

Ampersand's death though... That one got to me. Knew it was coming, but started tearing up anyway. Means a lot more when you've been on the journey.

Which is a forced narrative for a purpose of having a twist and was barely more than hinted at throughout the series. He has a stronger sexual connection to women that are dead than 355 and in any scenario you're going to have certain amount of caveats that boil down to writer's intent than what would actually happen.

and personally she was drawn maybe attractive once in the entire series when she was sparring with him and was sitting cowgirl on top afterwards.

I could never get into her when her competition were all better looking, even some of the jews trying to kill them.
