Yes.

I have no idea why people hate it here. The art threads are better than /ic/, tv shows threads are better than /tv/ (Which is fucking saying something because they're still company war threads), the game character threads are better than /v/. God, even the threads that turn into Trump debates are better than all of /pol/. And the storytime threads are great, the "post animation" threads are great, and the gimmick threads, like the Riddler ones, are fun. Threads also don't die at the speed of light like /tv/ or /v/, which is nice.

Most opinions seem split down the middle 50-50, you'll find a ton of people who hate a show and an equal number who love it. If you start a thread out correctly, it'll have pretty good replies. You know, just don't have a Steven Universe picture with the caption, "Why does Sugar want to push homosexuality on kids?".

This place has also given me animation-related news faster than any other website. It takes days to weeks for CartoonBrew to keep up with shit I learned on /co/ mere minutes after it was announced.
>>
>>88510033
Too bad we can't have anime threads unless it's something Toonami related and even then it's the recently aired stuff. /a/ a shit. At least there's /v/.
>>
>>88510033
literally all of that is wrong.
>>
>>88502229
actually this though

other than company wars that are mostly started by /tv/ shitposters, /co/ is probably one of the better populated boards compared to /v/ or /tv/

The closest other civil board that is also pretty active is /tg/ and /mu/

>>88510065

Most people who say "/co/ is love" are people that want to talk about non-/co/ stuff here mainly /a/nimefags who can't handle /a/ and their hivemind and want a safespace from the trolls. Every board can have threads about content not related to the board better than the board it is supposed to be one because there are different people that hasn't torn through all all discussion of a subject or dismisses it outright for various reasons.

God fucking damn it I hate this meme, but it works here
>>
>>88510953
People whine about Jojo getting popular and "casual" but frankly I don't mind because the whole bit where everyone was all 'wink wink, nudge nudge, i like that relatively obscure manga that only people with good taste like that makes me cool right' was just as obnoxious.
>>
>>88510984

It just pisses me off because it's coming full circle and the people asking if it's a jojo reference aren't even familair with the show, they're just pissy that references exist and some dumbfucks wouldn't shut up about it, and now everything gets ironicaly called a jojo reference and I don't even know who is shitposting at who anymore.

What bothers me is people that claim to be huge fans and yet haven't read the manga, or get upset that people spoil parts 1-7. Nigga, it's like someone who claims to be the biggest batman fan after watching the Nolan trilogy.

What's worse, they then continue to force jojo into every.single.board.
>>

I honestly think every 4chan board, regardless of topic or content, needs to have the same eternal sticky with that one Descartes quote that warns "The problem with pretending to be an idiot because its funny is that eventually genuine idiots show up and assume they are in good company".

Because that's really what happened to 4chan in a nutshell. Joking racism slowly got replaced with actual racism, joking lewd got replaced with actual porn, joking stupidity attracted actual idiots who unironically believe those opinions... and so on.

/co/ has survived this relatively well, but many a board has fallen to this corruption.
>>
>>88512321
/co/ hasn't completely weathered it unscathed though, there are still people here who took /tv/s "BvS is the greatest kino ever," meme literally.

Not that guy and I agree that talk of lewds was never joking, but back in the day, everything wasn't and endless discussion of "Can I fuck it or will I die/go to jail in the process? Do I care if I die/go to jail? I want to fuck it." Sure it existed, but usually those fags were told to fuck off.

>>
>>88512321
As someone who's been here for over a decade, that's all varying degrees of untrue. Porn was arguably bigger and less moderated before, the demolition of /n/ was directly because of rampant Stormfaggotry, and we weren't swaddled in nearly as many layers of irony in those days, for better or worse.

What has happened is that the myriad of special interest boards dried up the melting pot that /b/ used to be, the place got pared down as things like Reddit sucked users away, and sites became split down party lines with the more anonymous platform understandably attracting the counterculture du jour.

>/a/ knows how to hotwire an F-150

I realize that the boards and the anons that inhabit it aren't a hivemind. But I still feel that if you were to take an average group of ten normies vs. ten anons, and threw them all into some sort of dire apocalyptic event, that it would be the anons who would stand atop the pile of bones. Reminder that they drove their appeal into the ground by allowing Tumblrites and /tv/ garbage to flourish while accepting the sub-par moderation

Reminder that more users abandon boards like /co/ every day to witness happenings on /pol/ and elsewhere

They'll say it was reddit, or twitter agregates, or the fabled stormfront, but everyone who moved this online campaign was related or at least in communication with /pol/ and /pol/tards. The board is extremely large in population, larger than /v/, and only slightly smaller than /b/. The activity and traffic that goes on there is undeniably leaving a print on the internet at large and making it's way to the general public.
>>
>>88521313
/pol/ definitely had an impact on the election

/pol/ created /r/the_donald
And reddit is normie central
>>
>>88521191
>literally bragging about being cancer
Okay.
>>
>>88521348

reddit is whatever someone with even a hint of knowledge in social engineering wants them to be, they're maleable idiots, bored youth ready to be mobilized by the first cause you can peddle on them, the new /b/ pretty much.

it's no wonder /pol/ got away with it.
>>
>>88521348
>pepe became national news and a symbol of hate because /pol/tards would spam journalists and Democrats with him relentlessly
One for the history books.
>>
>>88501258
Not since 2008
>>
>>88521370
For sure
There was some guy a number of months ago who became reddit's go to animal guy
Every time an animal post came up, all the plebs would like "Where's animalfag?"
And when he'd reply, he'd be the top comment
He was getting a book deal out of it
A fucking book deal

But then it was revealed that he had a few dummy accounts that upvoted his comments and downvoted competitors

What's popular on reddit depends on what people see
The first thing they see, they upvote
Having a few dummy accounts that make sure you're always in the first 10 posts means that'll be in the top 10 of 1000 posts

A fucking nobody did this
Imagine if an actual organization gamed the system

Then you'll understand why the reddit administration has been doing everything they can to shut down /r/the_donald without actually banning it

/pol/ didn't do shit because he won via electoral college. And only 25% of the country voted for him, the majority of which are from low income families in small towns who barely use the internet outside of maybe Facebook.

Do you think those with electoral ballots are browsing Reddit and 4Chan for their political influence?
>>
>>88521552
>the majority of which are from low income families in small towns who barely use the internet outside of maybe Facebook.

patently untrue if you actually inquire 4chan users throughout. And even then, if you didn't believe most people were affected directly by funny memes, they spread through young people, the least politically active group in average, and those young people brought discourse to their homes and social circles.

/pol/ didn't just make memes either, they dug and spread a lot of shit on the democrat campaign and pressed the mainstream media directly at many points.
>>
>>88521552
>And only 25% of the country voted for him
Imagine this argument if Hillary won. Would be met with "haha butthurt"
>>
>>88521686

yeah but she does have more votes at least
>>
>>88521552
Fuck off mate

The candidates knew that the Electoral College was how the president is chosen
That's why Trump went to swing states

Why Hillary went to blue as fuck states like Cali and sucked them off made no sense.

The aim of the game was to win the most electoral votes
You can't judge them retroactively for playing by the rules of that game when you really want a new one

And by the way, if you remove California, Trump wins the popular vote
Think about what that means
>>
>>88521643
Most young people who could vote went with Hillary. Anyone younger isn't going to influence their parents on who they should vote for. I don't typically listen to my 14-year old for advice on who to vote for.

And Trump meme'd himself with the Make America Great Again slogan that all his supporters slapped on their heads. His Twitter account alone had way more impact than r/TheDonald.

If you took a second to even look at the people at his rallies, you'd realize the majority of them are much older people probably suffering financially who want Trump to bring jobs and manufacturing back. People who want to believe the internet is the reason he won shows how much more you want to live in a fantasy world where "There's no way people voting for him could be GENUINE!". He won mostly because of the electoral college. Even if he lost the popular vote by millions, he still would have been president. So no, /pol/ didn't do shit except for maybe persuade a couple of thousand people at most.

>>88521791
Are you on fucking autopilot or something? I was never arguing the legitimacy of his win, merely /pol/'s influence. Christ, take a look at what you're actually arguing against before getting triggered and spouting off your copy pasta.
>>
>>88521848
>I was never arguing the legitimacy of his win
>because he won via electoral college. And only 25% of the country voted for him

Uh yeah, that was exactly what you were doing

And, btw, saying "only 25% of people voted for him" is extremely disingenuous.
Only half of Americans vote
All presidents win by 20 something percent
>>
>>88521791
>>Why Hillary went to blue as fuck states like Cali and sucked them off made no sense.

they assumed the opposition wouldn't be able to rally people out of the abstain sector.

>>88521848

why are you so convinced old people can't be swayed by news?

i guarantee you if it wasn't for internet activists no one would have reported wikileaks or a lot of the violence among voters.
>>
>>88521904
That isn't arguing legitimacy, idiot, that's stating facts. He DID get the most electoral votes. Only half the country voted. And the popular vote was pretty close 50-50. That means only a quarter of the population voted for Hillary or Trump, because half of all voters =/= half of the population.

>>88521931
Because WikiLeaks doesn't have nearly as big of a influence by itself as you think. Most people still don't know what the fuck it is. Most people don't even know what the NSA does despite Snowden and that info being public as all hell. Jesus, most people don't even know what the Patriot Act is. It was Trump pushing the e-mails, e-mails, e-mails. Not just WikiLeaks alone, they needed a push if they wanted that info to actually get out. If it wasn't for Trump echoing the idea so much that it's all Hillary became known for, she might have gotten a lot more pop votes. But again, he won via college, not pop votes, so it wouldn't have even matters if Hillary got more votes. If you think reporting scandals somehow drastically changes an outcome, then Trump should have sunk since the whole sexual harassment ordeals surfaced a week before the election.

And there is a difference between info being spread on the internet that Trump's campaign staff researched, saw, and told him to use as fuel to discredit his opponents and "/pol/ influencing the election". That huge leap is like saying Dr. Seuss influences anti-abortion rallies because they like to use the Horton Hears a Who slogan a lot.
>>
>>88522264
>He DID get the most electoral votes. Only half the country voted. And the popular vote was pretty close 50-50. That means only a quarter of the population voted for Hillary or Trump, because half of all voters =/= half of the population.
So what was the point of bringing up the inflammatory "Only 25% voted for Trump"
If you don't think that'll trigger someone who doesn't know the context, then you're a total moron

You claim not to say arguing against legitimacy, but you're using their rhetoric
>>
>>88522321
Literally nothing about that is triggering. If you don't know the context, then you're a goddamn idiot. You're actually just a thin-skinned overly defensive Trump supporter who apparently is still so miserable that your candidate winning isn't enough to fill your bitching boner. I would think that someone who likes Trump wouldn't be as easily pissed off as a SJW.
>>
>>88522381
>using triggering in a SJW context
Fuck you

I mean that as like a gun firing.

Not really, the piss poor moderation sent several popular cartoons to /trash/ or cripplechan. Now this place is basically Camp Learnatorium (from FOP, ironically... which is hard to make lasting threads for here). There is inconsistency to the rules here, as >>88513430 points out, there are strict rules against furshit, which I don't necessarily disagree with, but I'd rather have Minerva or Peg or Katswell than fucking pure furry trash like the Sonic girls or Gumball Nicole /ss/ which IS allowed. It's really inconsistent. The rules are vague, arbitrary, and used only to make the board more enjoyable for the mod, not the userbase. Then there was the huge banning of drawfags in the drawthread that went on a while ago, now no one gets a request done unless its for SU shit or whatever is popular this month, or those cringey as fuck Channel-tan things.
>>
>>88522559
Because the shitposters who came here to bitch about them stayed.
>>
>>88501258
As a Korra fan, I can tell you with 100% certainty that /co/ is hate.
>>
>>88522631
Korra hate is a side-effect of this board becoming from 2010 onward or so a pure Anti-Nickelodeon pro-Cartoon Network circlejerk.
>>
>>88522559
Shockingly, setting precedent that whining about things you don't like can get them banned from relevant boards did not create an atmosphere more conductive to discussion.
>>
>>88522665
Or maybe it was just a kind of "meh" sequel to a highly acclaimed (and rightfully so) show.

This is the internet. Nothing is allowed to be "kind of okay". It's either 100% dogshit or LITERALLY PERFECT.
>>
>>88522697
This, pretty much. Overall, I enjoyed Korra, but I understand how people could be frustrated or underwhelmed with it (as I was, at times).
