Bismuth was right. If they don't fight on homeworld, homeworld will continue to bring the fight to them. They have to focus on killing YD with the pilebunker. It might not make sense in real life production of gems, but what if lesser-rank gems are created deeper underground, while high rank gems are created closer to the ground?

It would explain why Rubies, who are very low ranking gems, have affinity for fire, while high class/aristocratic gems have affinity for water and ice (Sapphire and Lapis).

Seems pretty obvious that Bismuth will return. They even put her in the commercial break bumpers.

This has to be a DREAM

Heres why bismuth threw such a bitch fit when she was told no.

All her life she's been building then this pink soldier comes along and tells her she can do more, she isn't JUST builder, she can craft her own destiny. Then she starts doing what SHE wants, to build weapons and so she does. Then she shows her ultimate weapon, something that could win the war to the very person who tells her she can do what she wants. The Soldier turns it down for being too cruel, seeing this she gets mad. This IS what she wants to do, but shes being told she can't do it. Shes being told that all of her freedom was a cleverly crafted lie and that no matter how they fight, they will NEVER be free to craft their own destiny.

That is why bismuth was mad. It's exact same thing as being told to choose whatever cheese you desire, but then get told, "no, you cant choose THAT cheese" even though it's the cheese you want.


TL;DR bismuth was right, but so was rose.

Also Bismuth saying, "you ARE him" is actually foreshadowing to rose still being alive, but giving her powers to steven when she sees fit for him to learn something new

The moral of the episode is equal parts 'life is precious and the ability to destroy it cannot be taken lightly' and 'war is never a good solution'

There was literally nothing about systemic oppression. At all. Most of the gems Bismuth would be shattering are victims of the same system that forced the crystal gems to rebel in the first place.

Why does tumblr willfully misunderstand everything? Why are they so desperate for something to be mad about?

The episode would have been much better if instead of steven and bismuth fighting bc shes the angry black women and she’ll fight anyone, even a child, they had a discussion about how the gems they could potentially be using the weapon on are just foot soldiers following orders, and could also be liberated, and then they work together to make a plan to take it directly to the Diamonds and shatter them. You know, instead of invalidating her and making her the big bad unstable extremist who is just as bad as her oppressor :))) and then just poofing her and bubbling her away :)

Bismuth definitely had good intentions, but went about it in an incredibly ruthless direction. Rose likely told nobody about poofing her in order to keep her violence quiet.

If she had escaped and presented her idea to the rebellion, not only would it have escalated the war to the point where Homeworld could have decided to destroy Earth outright, but it would have split the rebellion in two, with Bismuth's half being intent on shattering Rose's half if they got in their way. Rose kept both Bismuth's idea and her poofing quiet in order to keep the rebellion whole and focused on one ideal.

One way or another, there was no good way to have gone about it.

The reason some people on Tumblr are so mad about Bismuth is because they saw the promo and held her up on a pedestal as 'positive black-coded butch woman representation', until the actual episode slapped them in the faces with something they didn't want. I understand the anger, but I feel like trying to warp the episode's message into something it's really not supposed to be is pretty damn inappropriate.

That's one of the main problems with these people - if there's something they don't like, they'll go to hell and back to find a reason why that thing is absolutely immoral and therefore nobody should like it. Bismuth kept referring to the top of gem society as "upper crust" however you would think they would call them something like "core society" or something since gemstones like diamonds actually form deep in the earths crust not the "upper crust".
You would think gems would have a term that would reflect that and that "upper crust" might even be used to refer to the proles suggesting that they are of lesser quality and could be found on the surface.
