So I was hoping you guys could point me in the right direction. In the EU, there are some "good" bad guys, good people who are stuck on the wrong side of the conflict, like Soontir Fel.
What I'm looking for are some "bad" good guys; people working for the Rebellion that were willing to go to any length and use any unscrupulous edge to unseat the Empire.
Does anyone fit that bill?

You know more than the deaths of Han, Vader, Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, Ventress or any other tragic moment in the series the thing that bums me out the most is Threepio getting his memory wiped after Episode III. And they play it for laughs too.
>>
>>78378394
I thought Lost Star was fucking brilliant, it was really cool and refreshing seeing the Imperial soldier's perspective on events and how the propaganda was fooling them so much. And I loved Thane's personal conflict with helping the Rebels because it was better than the Empire yet not fully agreeing with their cause and being skeptical. If you haven't already, you should read Battlefront: Twilight Company, you get a whole lot more of that kind of "foot soldier's perspective on the war and the ideology" type stuff. Very grounded, Band of Brothers type story with lots of good action. Highly recommend it.

Kind of funny they have riot gear with anti-lightsaber capacity but against a true Jedi those guys would be absolutely fucked just from Force Push alone. And of course Kylo Ren has that weird Force Bind ability he can use not just on people but also blaster bolts, so depends on if those are Knights of Ren specific techniques.

While I'm talking about the picture did anyone else hate the majority of the vehicles introduced? That transport is just really bland, lacks the style of the old LAATs and the Imperial police version dropship/gunship. Also that stupid as fuck Resistance dropship.

Same. The universe doesn't feel quite as intriguing this time around. The characters are, so it's a tradeoff, but I'm not as eager to learn about Alien #4 or why the guy who hired Han to get those rathtars wanted them. Hell, I think Han mentioned having a crew and those things killed most of them, I'm not even that eager to find out who those guys were, and that feels weird because they had to have been pretty cool if they were working for Han and Chewie.

Yoda was 900 by the time he died. But yeah, it's kind of lazy for both. One would be fine, personally I'd prefer it to be Maz and not Snoke because of how eclectic she is so it makes sense, but that's just me.
>>
>>78379225
Instead of expanding the universe, TFA shrank it to fit in the narrow perceptions of the general public.

I miss George. He had imagination. I realize now that literally every film JJ has done has had no imagination in it. He's never really crafted a world before like George has.
>>
>>78379225
For me the story was compelling enough (even if it was a strong rehash of ANH) but the setting is weak. They didn't bother to flesh things out, which was a pretty bad misstep given it's been thirty years since the battle of Endor.

Whatever else the Prequels suffered from, the allure of the setting, the designs for people, places, and vehicles, created a fairly compelling backdrop to a story that sadly lacked cohesion. TFA is a step too far in the other direction (and it doesn't help that they carbon copied a lot of the plot points). Still it's something that can be built up, so I won't really complain.

>>
>>78379313
No underwear in space, for one.

On a more serious note you do realize the vast majority of ideas came purely from George, even if other people refined them later. He was still the impetus and the driving vision was his. But of course not everything he came up with was golden.
>>
>>78379317
Okay.
>>
>>78379267
I'm okay with Maz being super-old (it also helps that she's endearing as a character). I'm not sure I want Snoke to be that old, but I guess it really depends on what his backstory is. They should have gone into that a little more, if only to explain to the audience why, despite the heavy emphasis on destroying the Sith and restoring balance in the previous films, there's suddenly another really big dark side user who may not technically be a Sith but seemingly behaves like one (at the very least we're not given enough information about Snoke to explain tell if he's completely different from how the Sith act and operate or if he's basically the same thing with a different name).
>>
>>78379349
As it is we're not given enough to really distinguish him from Palpatine, let alone from the Sith in general.

Why do people keep saying Snoke is just another Palpatine.

He's not at all. The problem isn't that Snoke is just another Palpatine it's that we don't know jack shit about Snoke. But he doesn't look nor act like Palpatine. And he's actually directly involved with the going ons of the First Order whereas Palpatine largely sat in the back and let his Moffs and Vader manage everything.

I mean the movie is full of flaws and is a total rehash of ANH but I don't see why Snoke being a bad guy suddenly makes him identical to Palpatine.
>>
>>78379372
Even if you ignore the prophecy, this is basically just "Another Empire with another Palpatine" and we're not given enough to explain why this is different.

The CGI for Maz was pretty decent, though I'm a bit curious why they made her digital given their otherwise strong emphasis on "practical effects". Seems like Maz could have just been a short person with a prosthetic face embellishments and some animatronics. My best guess is they didn't feel it captured the "human" appeal enough as she interacted with people. Some of their effects, like Ackbar, really seemed lacking.
>>
>>78379392
>The problem isn't that Snoke is just another Palpatine it's that we don't know jack shit about Snoke
That's exactly what I'm saying. There isn't enough to distinguish him because we don't know anything.
>>
>>78379390
It's pretty heavily implied that they're related. Like Rey is probably his daughter.
>>
>>78379417

But that's retarded. We don't know anything about a lot of characters. All we know about Maz is that she's old, small and related to the Jedi. MUST BE A YODA NOT ENOUGH TO DISTINGUISH OTHERWISE

Still kind of wondering what their ghosts are doing. It's possible they were only allowed to exist for a short time to fulfill their destiny after death and then had to fuck off into the Netherworld of the Force, or I guess they're just, what, hanging back and letting the new kids on the block deal with stuff? Seemed like Kylo Ren actually felt Vader was showing him things and it's hard to imagine Yoda doesn't show up at some point. Also it raises the questions of whether that was really Obi-Wan speaking or some kind of weird Force echo.
>>
>>78379392
He's another Palpatine because so far, he's filling the exact same roll Palpatine played in the OT.

There's more to these things than "looking and acting" the same. The story elements are all the same. You'd probably ask how people can think Rey and Luke are the same role because Luke is a boy and Rey is a girl. THEY'RE SO DIFFERENT!

Animatronics have come a long way but they're not quite as emotive as CGI.

>Some of their effects, like Ackbar, really seemed lacking.
Yeah, it was kind of weird to see his mouth just kind of flapping. It works in ROTJ because everything else is on that level, but in 2015 it looks weird. The most bizarre part is that ILM actually developed a really good emotive Mon Calamari facial rig for Episode 3 (which unfortunately we never see in use in the film and the one deleted scene where that character appears has her sitting silently). Lucas liked it enough that he considered digitally replacing Ackbar in ROTJ with the more enhanced animatronic but apparently decided it was too much trouble.

Ostensibly true, however the Priestesses were charged with existing to teach others deemed worth to become Force Ghosts, should the need arise. They aren't just rare but intended to exist for specific purposes. We know they follow rules. Qui-Gon talked about how he was limited in what he could say to Yoda, and Obi-Wan made it clear that he couldn't help Luke in his confrontation with Vader.

There are limitations and rules that govern their state, and it's possible one of those rules is that they aren't supposed to continue after they've achieved their purpose. This is what the old EU did, anyway.

>>78379518
Qui-Gon had a mission, though.
>>
>>78379487
I think Kylo Ren just isn't really a bad person. He's literally forcing himself down this painful, violent path against his own nature and conscience because he believes it's the only way to accomplish his ultimate goals, whatever those may be (I'm partial to the idea that he wants to kill Snoke and didn't see any other way to become powerful enough to do it). Which is exactly what Jacen did.
>>
>>78379543

Sort of depends. I think we can all agree the Episode 1 puppet was terrible.

I love the ESB/ROTJ puppet, but it works when surrounded by other effects of the time. If you put it in a modern movie it would look really out of place. I could see them making a more sophisticated puppet for Episode 8, though.
>>
>>78379567

>>
>>78379588
You have a point ep3 yoda looks fine. And I still cringe at that godawful episode I puppet...
>>
>>78379588
I wouldn't mind puppet Yoda as long as it isn't goddamn TPM puppet Yoda. Damn that thing was just wrong. Well, in more ways than one, especially how they for some reason de-aged Yoda a bit, forgetting that at his advanced age of nearly 900 he would still be as much a wrinkled frog as he was in ROTJ.

Of course the old Yoda puppet in the OT was a headache to work with too. Depends on what they want him to do, but if he's just a ghost standing around I could see him being a puppet again easily.
>>
>>78379552
Kylo Ren basically needs the Scrooge treatment. Get Vader, Obi-Wan, and Yoda's ghosts to show him what's what.
>>
>>78379595
There's also a potential difference between being given a very rare gift only bestowed for very specific reasons and being allowed to exist for perpetuity long after you've fulfilled your purpose.

If they were told that their time is done and they should give themselves willingly to the Force and leave the new generation to their own devices, then I can't see Obi-Wan or Yoda arguing.
>>
>>78379627
>>> Kylo Ren keeps trying to be edgy

Eh just Vader would be fine. He wouldn't know who Obi-Wan and Yoda are nor would he care.

It'd be interesting to see Anakin's ghost come to him and see Kylo dismiss it and go down some even darker path now without the guidance and idolization of Vader in him.
>>
>>78379620
For what it's worth, Frank Oz was actually suggesting a CGI Yoda as far back as Episode 1 because he was getting tired of puppeteering. It would probably be easier to just make Yoda CGI again rather than find another puppeteer who can mimic Frank's puppetry well enough AND sync it to a recording of him doing the line, especially if all he's going to do is appear as a ghost for a scene or two.

the last arc of tcws season 6 made it clear yoda was only being taught because they needed him to ensure someone was there to train luke to defeat the emperor. filoni also implied the longer they exist the more fragmented they become because he conceived of the priestesses as different aspects spun off the original so ghosts can change and even degrade.

Of course to be fair it would have taken the Priestess a very long time, presumably, to fragment. That is kind of the problem with CGI cartoons in general. Despite better camera movement more fluid motion of the characters, they ironically end up becoming more sterile because they typically don't have the budget to flesh out the world.

The characters in this pic are from cartoons that display this rather well. Transformers Prime mostly takes place in a desert and only has about 20 characters. TMNT 2012 makes NYC look like a ghost town that consists of a single block.

I feel like the movie could have been perfect if it had an extra 10-20 minutes of breather scenes, BUT at the same time, I think including them in the premiere theatrical release would have been a mistake. This was not a regular sequel, this movie was to be scrutinized into oblivion as the resurrection of the franchise, making it a spectacle from which you have no chance to recover until it ends works better for the first impression and works better in general for the "casual" audience. Imagine what would have happened if Lord of the Rings premiered with the 4 hour extended editions. Now all Disney has to do is actually release an extended edition.

Luke merged with the Force to such a degree that the Jedi Master did not seem to be there, physically or as an individual personality. Luke's control over his lightsaber blade was so great that he was said to might as well have been wielding ten, or twenty lightsabers against the Vong.

>Luke used a powerful and unique ability of the Force related to his signature green Electric Judgment in the chamber of Shimrra Jamaane. This technique had been described to look like "green sparks," which instantly killed the Slayers.

>Skywalker learned the "lightning-rod" technique Ayna-seff, which he use to safely travel through the Kathol Rift.

>After spending time with the Aing-Tii, Luke was taught the Fold space ability which allowed him to teleport objects vast distances.

>By 45 ABY, Luke had great resilience in Force duels, able to break a powerful Force grip on his neck, and take a full blast of Force lightning to the torso.

>During his duel with the Columi Qresh brothers, Luke dispensed powerful blasts of Force energy that manifested itself as golden flame.

>Upon death, Luke was able to retain his consciousness in the Netherworld of the Force, and could henceforth manifest himself in spirit form.

>Luke was proficient in unarmed combat. He was able to defeat Guri, who was an expert in unarmed combat. He often used physical attacks when he was in lightsaber combat to defeat enemies like Jabba's thugs to even kicking Darth Vader down a stair case in their final duel. In the duel at the lake of apparitions, Luke killed the entity Abeloth by pushing his elbow through Abeloth's head. He also overpowered Darth Krayt when the Dark Lord tried to Force drain him by bashing him and throwing him to the surface of the lake.

>Luke was able to speak a variety of languages such as Galactic Basic, Huttese, Jawa Trade language, Shyriiwook, and Yuzz, and he claimed to know twelve other common languages.
>>
>>78380814
>Though Luke received little training, he became an exceptionally skilled Jedi in combat, making him one of the most powerful Jedi to ever live.

>In the fight against Darth Sidious, during Operation Shadow Hand, he rebelled against the reborn Emperor and despite losing initially, Luke again engaged Sidious in a final duel. The fight was so intense that Leia could hardly see the movements of Luke as he engaged the Emperor, but she sensed waves of power generating from them—dark from the Emperor, and light from Luke. Luke took the upper hand and sliced off the Emperor's hand with cho mai. Darth Sidious, whose lightsaber prowess rivaled that of Yoda's, laid defeated.

>Luke was also able to display his amazing dueling skills with dual blades during the Yuuzhan Vong War. When his nephew, Jacen Solo, was captured by the Yuuzhan Vong Luke wielded his own blade, as well as Jacen's, and easily defeated three Yuuzhan Vong Warriors, before freeing Jacen. Later in the Yuuzhan Vong War, Luke participated in the Battle of Artorias and defeated over a dozen Yuuzhan Vong Warriors. Luke's abilities with a lightsaber allowed him to fight his way through countless Yuuzhan Vong warriors in the Sacred Precinct. After defeating numerous Yuuzhan Vong warriors in Shimrra's Citadel, Luke defeated more than five Slayers; while Kyp Durron, one of the most powerful Jedi of his time, could not best the Slayers who were exposed to Alpha Red. Afterward, Luke slew Supreme Overlord Shimrra Jamaane, who was stated to be the best warrior of the Yuuzhan Vong, despite being injured by the poison of the Scepter of Power.

>>During the Battle of Tenupe, Luke dueled Raynar Thul, who at the time could draw on the Force energy of every single nest member and Joiner, and was able to defeat him by cutting off his dominant hand. Before he could get Raynar to surrender he was attacked by the Queen of the Dark Nest, Lomi Plo. Although Lomi Plo wielded two lightsabers, Luke was still able to block her attacks and kill her by slicing her into four pieces, thus destroying the Dark Nest and ending the Swarm War.

>During Luke's exile, the Lost Tribe of Sith sent out a strike team to kill the Jedi Grand Master. Despite being outnumbered, Luke along side Ben, fought his way through approximately fifteen Sith until only the Sith Lady, Olaris Rhea, and her apprentice, Vestara Khai, remained. Luke dueled the both of them and killed Olaris, only allowing Vestara to escape so he could track her with a Blood Trail.

>While looking for the Sith on Dromund Kaas Luke, Ben, Vestara, and Jaina Solo were attacked by 10 Sith sabers led by Gavar Khai. Despite being outnumbered and the Sith powered by Dromund Kaas' dark side nexus, the Jedi and Vestara fought them. Luke and Jaina fought back to back, bonded by the Force, in perfect harmony and defeated six attacking Sith.

What are the requirements to be on the Council?

I assume Knight --> Master is training a padawan?
>>
>>78382483
Think so. Only Masters can be on the Council Anakin in Episode 3 was the only exception, although Obi-Wan did imply they were probably going to make him a Master soon enough.
>>
>>78382356
Pretty sure Jedi are granted rank of master after successfully raising an apprentice to knighthood. So, in between AotC and Clone Wars
>>
>>78379567
Ren killing Han will never be forgiven by the fanbase
>>
>>78382483
>I assume Knight --> Master is training a padawan?

Rank from highest to lowers goes Master > Knight > Padawan >Youngling.

Masters can sit on the council.
Masters and knights can train new Jedi.
Masters, Knights and Padawans can run around kicking ass with lightsabers.
Masters, Knights, Padawans, and Younglings are all Jedi.

Obi Wan was a Padawan in 1, a Knight 2, and a Master in 3.

Anakin was some strange rank between Youngling/Padawan in 1, a Padawan in 2, and a Knight who was granted special permission to sit on the council in 3. He has always been a special case since he's the "chosen one".

>Why would Han and Leia name their son Ben? Han only knew him as a crazy hermit who died
Maybe that's exactly why.

Full of Sith put it into my head that we know now that Han became a full believer of the Force and the Jedi and all that by TFA and probably realized how great of a person Kenobi really was so he kept that part of the memory alive through Ben
>>
>>78379743
>Why would Han and Leia name their son Ben? Han only knew him as a crazy hermit who died and Leia, to our knowledge, never met him when she was alive and only knew him from what Bail told her. Ben was of far more importance to Luke.

Maybe "Ben" is a generic name in the Star Wars universe? Keep in mind, when she sent the message via R2 D2, she called him Obi Wan Kenobi.

Obi Wan didn't start going by "Ben" until he went into exile so people wouldn't recognize him. Ben is the name Luke knew him by.

So I'm guessing that Ben is just a nondescript name like "Bob" or "John" in the Star Wars universe. That would make Leia and Han's choice to name him more of a mundane thing and take away a lot of the symbolism.

Beside, I always hated the tendency in various fanfictions and EU to have teenage couples stay happily married injto their middle ages, and have a bunch of kids that look exactly like them, and are all named after people who died, and those kids all be close friends.

Harry Potter was especially egregious in this regard.
>>
>>78382483
There's nothing saying that you become a master immediately after training a padawan, but it is probably one of the requirements.
>>
>>78382803
>Masters, Knights, Padawans, and Younglings are all Jedi.
"I'm just a Padawan, I'm not a Jedi yet" - Anakin
>>
>>78383003
>"I'm just a Padawan, I'm not a Jedi yet" - Anakin

Anakin never says that. Padme says that after some guy on Naboo refers to Anakin as "Master Jedi". Anakin then looks offended and quickly moves to reassert his authority.

Also, just a scene just earlier, Padme refers to Anakin as her "Jedi protector". And let's not consider all the other times Padawan Obi Wan and Padawan Anakin get referred to as Jedi by others.

Padawan are Jedi. Not fully realized Jedi, but Jedi nontheless.
>>
>>78382483

You have to be elected to sit on the council. I think there probably are Masters who don't sit on the council, either because they weren't voted for, or decline to sit.
>>
>>78382895
Harry potter is a little different though. It very much tried to have a "happily ever after" ending due to the nature of the series. Definitely more fantasy-focused and geared to kids/teens than Star Wars, so of course all the protagonists got their happily ever after with their waifu's.

Except Neville.

Anyways, I agree with you. Kinda' like that Han doesn't work out with Leia. They didn't really click together at all in RotJ.

Might just be the directing or the actors faults though. I believe Fisher and Fords performances in 6 are some of the worst in the entire franchise, much more lifeless than most of the Prequel actors. It's weird because in 5, I would have said they had some of the best performances in the franchise. But upon re-watching all the movies, I found RotJ to be the weakest in terms of acting. Except based Hamill.
>>
>>78383137

Because in VI, they made Han and Leia all lovey dovey.
>>
>>78383192
Even without those scenes though. Like Leia on Endor, felt like Fisher had snorted a line right before the camera started rolling.

Ford just seemed like he didn't even wanna' do the movie. I kinda felt that way with TFA at times too, but I think he pushed through it because he got paid like 20 million, and was promised to be killed off for good.

Younglings are less commonly known as Jedi Initiates, and Padawans as Jedi Apprentices.

"Jedi Knight" and "Jedi Master" exist because just saying "Knight" or "Master" without specifying you're talking about Jedi would make things confusing out of context.

But when you say Youngling/Padawan, nobody's going to mistake you for talking about anything other than a Jedi.

I do a lot of road traveling and see Rey and Phasma all over the place. 4 and 6 inch. Now in a fairly populated area? Less so. In the hood and tiny towns? For sure. And if these women would just once aim their bitching not at Disney for their difficulty finding the female figure, but Hasbro who makes most of the toys and decides to short pack the woman over a Han or Finn or Iron Man... the problem might get solved. But women do eventually become pegwarmers because you only need so msny to fulfill the needs of the public.

CW: Great story (mostly), lots of excitement (usually)
I: Far better acting from half the cast, sets up the threat of the Jedi. Just ignore JarJar.

Rebels: Damn good so far, continues the "OH GOD ANAKIN IS POWERFUL" fear of Ep 3 / CW.

VII: Good action, okay acting, so-so music, so-so story

VI: Okay action and blue-screen, music great, ewoks make no sense, entire opening with jabba is weak.

V: over-written, over-hyped, music okay, one long boring fest after the battle of Hoth, dagobah feels to focused on, cloud city to slow, we have no real establishment on any of the characters or Cloud City, they're just there

IV: my first fanfic the movie, a lot of hand waving going on, slow movie, dog fights at the end were really repatative.

I dunno', not sure about force sensitive. I think she and Thane were just top of their class because of their passion and the fact that they practiced together all their lives. Most people who join military forces dont have that much prior experience.

If she was force sensitive, the Inquisitors would have got to her too.

Also, force sensitivity isn't only something passed down in the family. In fact that seems to be a rare case possibly exclusive to Anakin "Chosen One" Skywalker and his descendants.

I wouldn't be upset if it turned out Rey was related to Ciena and Thane, but the evidence isn't exactly much.

I agree with you about TCW being so high. I believe Star Wars works best in a televised format. The characters on that show ended up being developed stronger than any of the movie characters. The best arcs on that show rival the best in the movies. Even Freddie Prince Jr. says his favorite Lightsaber fight of all time is from TCW, and that people are foolish to dismiss it because its a cartoon.

This seems to be generally the common conesenus with some variations. V and IV are considered the best, I and II considered the worst and VI, VII and III being muddled up somewhere in the middle.
>>

>IV is considered one of the best
But why?
>>
>>78384662
Because unless you're one of those bratty children who cringe at the idea of a film being made in the late 70s not having the best of special effects, you can appreciate the story Lucas (or maybe I should say Lucas' editing staff) was doing, how it's based on the stories he grew up with, the masterful use of practical effects and the simple but completely competently told story with lovable characters that launched the franchise you're literally posting in a thread of.
>>
>>78384662
Its the first one, did some groundbreaking things, aged pretty well, introduced a generation to the universe. I mean sure most of the kids are gonna start with the Prequels now, which I dont think is a bad thing at all, but its something to consider.

If you're into modding and shooters, Battlefront 2.
If you're into RTS, Galactic Battlegrounds. Also a mod-friendly game.
If you want new gen graphics, it'll be EA Battlefront when the Game Of The Year edition comes out. Its noth worth the current price and the DLC will be wallet hungry.
For OC sandboxing, KOTOR. Think Mass Effect.
For dogfighting? Get a joystick and load up TIE Fighter or X-Wing VS TIE Fighter.
For the earliest good Star Wars game? Atari. Pic related.
For a 2-d platformer? Super Star Wars. Beware the difficulty, its fucking HARD.

The MMO isn't bad.

>A New Hope
This is Star Wars. This. IS. Star Wars. It's began everything and it's just a magical movie and a classic. Always my favorite and always a source of parody and tribute.
>Empire
It's just such a good sequel. Bad guys win, good guys lose. Vader cliffhanger was awesome. I saw it in 97 before the time of Internet spoilers and it gave 5 year old me a chill and kept me up at night. Sets up the ending perfectly. Introduces memorable characters and is the first time we really get to see JedI powers. Yes IV had some powers showcased but it boiled down to an aged lightsaber fight and some mind tricks.
>TFA
Star Wars at its core. Played very safe and very much a homage to episode IV. The characters where great and it just felt like how a star wars movie should. Left me wanting more and that's a good thing.
>Sith
Pretty good besides the forced romance and horrible acting. The Utapau scenes could have been cut imo but the last half hour was perfect. Wish we could have gotten more Vader in his suit though.
>Menace
Maul was edgy but cool. Quigon was based. And pod racing was a fun scene. Other that that jar jar was shit. The politics were shit. Anakin was shit. And... nvm I'll be here all day if I keep this up.
>Clones
Just bad. Sure there's Jango but he's the only good thing to come from this movie. Him and the slaughter of those sandpeople. Other than that this movie was just the most shit of the saga with no real redeeming qualities. Geonosis sucked too.

The Clone Wars
The Senate
Kessel run
The big Correlian ships
0.5 past lightspeed
Dantooine
T16s

So on and so forth. It really made this galaxy feel bigger than what was happening on screen. It made you curious about what wasn't in the movie.

How many original property blockbuster movies leave you feeling like that?

It's like what Tolkien did for novels.

A-Wings have a great design, and i. One of the definitive Star Wars games, X-Wing, the A-Wing was the ultimate badass unlock so to a lot of people it represents the pinnacle ship. The TIE Fighter equivalent is the TIE Defender.

The Inquisitor from Rebels had his TIE, the first TIE Advanced which was also the predacessor to any bent wing TIE, based on it. I think only Maul ever had it though.

I'd say classic trilogy, but your preference.

Only good things from II:

-Jango & Clones
-Expanding our views of Coruscant
-Building Palpatine's rise to power
-Clone battles, (nothing before or after)

A "Good" edit of Episode II would be
"Protect the Senator!" -> "Shortened Speeder chase" -> "Who is Jango?!" -> "Clone Explanation to Obiwan" -> "Obi vs Jango" -> "Obi going to Geonosis" -> "Clones attack Geonosis"

You could edit out the entire Anakin love story - even their capture + the Arena. Just have it as Obiwan's findings leading the Jedi + Clone Army into Geonosis.

So which TFA characters will appear in Rebels Season 3?

I'm imagining an episode (or even a whole arc) with Maz Kanata's castle being an important location. Max herself will turn up, as will some of the other characters we've seen in there already - the cook, Captain Ithano/Crimson Corsair, that big dude. Might even be a good place to re-introduce some of the bounty hunter characters, like Bossk, Dengar, maybe even 4-LOM and Zuckuss. Cad Bane would be cool to see at some point too.

Sarco Plank?

We might see the early members of Kanjiklub or something at some point...

I'm also betting that they start to include some of the new alien species next season as well.

I like that they did actually reference the prequels here and there in TFA, carrying over some of the concepts that were established in those movies as important elements:

>Lor San Tekka says that "there can be no balance without the Jedi" - the whole concept of the force needing to be in balance comes from the prophecy of the prequels
>Maz Kanata says that the Dark Side manifests in different ways at different times - "the Sith, the Empire, and now the First Order". The Sith were introduced as a concept in the prequels
>Kylo Ren mentions replacing the Stormtroopers with clones (before the prequels, we did not know that the clones were essentially the prototypes for Stormtroopers)
>Young Obi-Wan's voice calling out to Rey
>Those flags

Also, if that theory that Kylo joined Snoke in order to defeat the dark side once and for all from the inside turns out to be true, when he says "I will finish what you started" to Vader's helmet he is directly referencing the Chosen One prophecy.

>>
>>78385698
I think you have to be much more in touch with the Force on a spiritual level rather than as a tool or power source.
Going strictly by the movies, you have to be extremely contemplative to interact witj Force ghosts. Yoda, the Jedi closest to "prophet" status, saw and communicated with them. Obi-wan after living like a hermit monk did.

Luke's entire character development was about faith in the Force, and the reason he was able to redeem Vader was he rejected the dogma and planning of the failed Jedi order from Yoda and Obi-wan.

Kylo isn't devout, he's insane. If he could see Force ghosts it'd be those he's killed or wronged haunting him like Mekurabe.
>>
>>78385799
That's what the rumor says will happen, but 8 is literally just starting production so we can't be too sure.

>>78385790

Might be cool actually. We've never seen dark side visions or apparitions in the movies beyond the cave in ESB and that was more of a warning. It's the kind of idea that wouldn't surprise me if it crops up again.

Also I kind of saw the lightsaber scene in a similar way. Kylo is a Vader fanboy who rejects Anakin and worships Vader, and he tries to claim the lightsaber that Anakin built as his to Finn. But when he tries to pull it to him he can't, and it flies to Rey instead. That basically cemented the fact that she's Luke's daughter to me. She is a Jedi, like her father before her, like his father before him. If this movie emphasizes symbolism as much as the others (and that appears to be the case) then that was basically Excalibur heeding the call of the true heir.

But despite this bold claim, she doesn't actually beat him. She gains the upper hand momentarily but ultimately the terrain ends their battle before it truly finishes, implying a rematch to come rather than a decisive win on Rey's part.

I found that entire sequence to be very well done and one of the highlights of the movie. I think it would be interesting to see Kylo come back stronger and more controlled by disciplining himself in the dark side, as Snoke seems to be a very wise teacher. And perhaps Rey's natural abilities, loner's past, and lucky "win" at the end of TFA will render her arrogant and overconfident. Who wants to bet she loses a hand?

Fuck I just thought of something cool, what if suns in the Star Wars universe act like suns irl where you see their light long after their death. Now imagine if the constellation of the Hosnian system's suns ends up being seen as a symbol to finally end the bullshit the Sith have been putting the galaxy in the past 50 years. Kind of like how people talk about how when they see the skyline of NYC missing the twin towers they get pissed off and remember 9/11, when people see the constellation of the Hosnian system they remember the shit the Empire/First Order has gotten them into.

Depends, there's genuinely a certain point of view to it. It's valid to say that Vader was both trying to destroy the Jedi and convert Luke, yet ultimately his destiny was to bring balance to the Force and the way to do that wasn't what he had been trying to do all that time. You could look at Kylo Ren and think he wants to destroy or convert Luke to finish Vader's original goal, but I think he might actually be wanting to destroy Snoke since he exists counter to the destiny that Vader died to achieve when he killed Palpatine.

>Don't worry about those First Order guys are just a bunch of jokers! They couldn't hurt a fly.
>Wartime is over, so lets get rid of our armies!

It doesn't help that there wasn't any emotional impact to the destruction of the Hosnian System in the film aside from the planetside shots of horrified people. The First Order did nothing wrong.

I think what Kylo is trying to do is what he believes will "bring balance to the Force" as Anakin was meant to. Considering his fall to the dark side and transformation into Vader, coupled with a possible vision from contact with Vader's helmet (like what happened with Rey) and whatever Snoke told him, he may believe that this can only be achieved through the dark side, and to that end, the destruction/conversion of the Jedi and anyone else who uses the light.

That would be the worst possible thing.

A Star Wars board would mean, in theory, multiple threads tailored to certain aspects f the franchise. Perhaps there would need to be some strong support from mods early on to stop it becoming a meme factory, but it could work. Legends stuff could get its own threads. As could Rebels. No more fighting over what Star Wars things to talk about, which sometimes happens here.

But a single designated Star Wars general for 4chan? That's literally just combining this thread with the /tv/ ones. It'd be fucking hell.

I'm really worried that Episode VIII will be a retread of Empire Strikes Back. All of the seeds are sewn:

>Protagonist learning the ways of the Force from a Jedi Master in exile on a lonely planet
>Evil faction's superweapon destroyed, leader on the hunt for the protagonist
>Remaining two of the trio on their own
>Main villain likely has a family connection to main hero

Hopefully they blow our minds and do something completely different, but I doubt it.

You know it to be true. Just look at infinity's Star Wars board. Star Wars has a vast galaxy but people mistake that for tons of things to discuss when in reality a good 80% of discussion are little specific topics that warrant only 2 or 3 posts of discussion that's best kept in a single thread or else people won't even see the thread in the catalog.

Yeah, I just really want the retards who think they're so smart for adhering to this theory (especially since they all act like they thought of it first) to shut up and go away at this point. Palpatine's story was crystal clear in its mythological lesson. He was so obsessed with prolonging his life that he didn't see the danger right underneath his nose. His death is the ultimate irony. He did not survive.

Eh, the pieces and the timing of everyone is different enough that I'm not too worried about it.

>who think they're so smart for adhering to this theory (especially since they all act like they thought of it first)
Everytime I see someone who posts the OMG THEY HAVE A SIMILAR THEME idea makes me roll my eyes. John Williams uses music to convey similar themes and are used as a leitmotif. Leia's theme pops up quite a bit and she isn't even in the scene. The snoke theme and Plageius one is a leitmotif in similar scenes, both are dark side masters attempting to manipulate, control and corrupt a prospectful apprentice (Vader/Ren).

Star Wars uses Luke's theme for any Jedi or Force-sensitive protagonist.

Williams also did The Old Republic and used the theme to represent both Jedi Knights and Jedi Consulars.

Hell, his theme is pretty much all there is to the Jedi Consular theme.
>>
>>78387491
>What, you're emigrating to theforce.net?

Perhaps, I heard they have it good down there
>>
>>78387934
>Williams also did The Old Republic

No he didn't. Williams never worked on any Old Republic era music.
>>
>>78387934
That's because it's not Luke's theme, it's the Force theme. Even says so on his notes.
>>
Episode 7 didn't really make me excited for the sequels much more than it did make me curious for the back story.

I want to see exactly what happened in that 30 year period and how the First Order formed and how much control both them and the New Republic have.

But I bet we won't start seeing those comics and books until near or after Episode 9.
>>

The Force Unleashed was scored by Mark Griskey, with the main theme written by Jesse Harlin
>>
>>78388029
I disagree, aside from Luke's Jedi Academy, I don't really care. I just want more Kylo Ren and to learn about the Knights of Ren. Everything else is without consequence.
>>
>Tall and gaunt, he was humanoid but not human. The hood of the dark robe he wore was down, leaving visible a pink, pale face so aged it verged on translucence. Poorly reconstructed, the broken nose added to the asymmetry of the damaged visage. So did the position of the left eye, which was situated lower than the right. Beneath wispy gray eyebrows, they were a startling cobalt blue. Long since healed over, old cuts and wounds marred the chin and forehead, the latter scar being particularly noteworthy.
>“Kylo Ren, I watched the Galactic Empire rise, and then fall. The gullible prattle on about the triumph of truth and justice, of individualism and free will. As if such things were solid and real instead of simple subjective judgments. The historians have it all wrong. It was neither poor strategy nor arrogance that brought down the Empire. You know too well what did.”

Snoke has been around before the Empire. Is this another Plageius hint or just a massive red herring?

Yes, and the reason why the book purposefully did not name this character or give him any physical description beyond being male and "previously thought dead" seems to me to be an implication that it's Snoke by not wanting to give anything away. If it had been Hux, it would have just said so.
>>
>>78388580
Luke couldn't have done it without Wedge, R2, or Han.
>>
>>78388591
The only mention of Brendol was from before ANH. That's plenty of time for him to be "thought dead" in-universe. If it was Snoke, there would have had to be a description of his size (supposedly 7-foot tall) from Sloane's perspective.

No, because it had the single best battle.

>No, because it had the single best battle.

It also involves the best acting of the entire franchise, a decent romance plot, and Lando motherfucking Calrissian. And the bad guys actually win. It even makes the comic relief work without resorting to cute/goofy humor.

"I am your father" is just one of the MANY things the movie did better than the others.
