You know what, /co/? I honestly love the christmas threads.
For eleven months of the year it's thr usual hijinks and I wouldn't miss that for the world, but then we get a series of threads at the end of the year where we all put aside our differences and come together over puzzles, anecdotes, comics and just general cheer. It's so nice to see the hate train just put the brakes on for a little while.
on a side note, are there any drawfriends in this thread? I'm interested in starting a webcomic and if anybody's interested I'll gladly hash out the details.
> these fucking riddles
What do the numbers mean Mason? WHAT DO THE NUMBERS MEAN?!
Throwing my list in for the pastebin; 2PD6PXHQETUM7
I've got a pretty tight schedule today,
this being my birthday all, but if I have time later/tomorrow I'll be story timing Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse in "The Blot's Double Mystery".. If anyone's interested, that is.
Just gonna repost mine from the last thread.
How are you guys doing on this fine day?
I've got some time, so let's do a longer one! This is Batman: Noel!
I've already been gifted, so if you're feeling generous, pick someone off the unloved list!
Lit a nice fire in my fireplace, now going to make my wish list.
Reposting my Christmas Anomalocaris and my wish list.
And we're back!
That's the end!
Alright, this has probably been done before - but nothing wrong with a classic.
Straight from Mirage Vol. 1-
Mikey Saves Christmas!
Here is my list, included the whole address since it's international.
Its UK but i live in Norway.
Why hello Batboobs. I know you think this is the time to celebrate, but what for? After all you'll never be as clever as me and you'll certainly never get a present from me. This first one is going to be quite a doozy. Sometimes the simplest DIMENSIONS can be the most complex!

What a nice turtle.
Rounding up with this pin-up and my wishlist
Gonna be poppin' in with a few stories here and again.
It was posted a couple threads back.
Hey anons, my little brother is getting into comics right now. Watched the Daredevil netflix show and enjoyed it. Any recommendations on runs? I haven't read much Daredevil myself, but I understand Bendis' run is pretty good, but that's all I know. Any help is appreciated.
Personally I recommend reading the whole shebang because DD is in a unique spot of always being just popular enough to get renewed, but not so popular that editorial pushes mandates down it's throat. That being said if you want contained runs you can check out when Frank took over (huge shift), the return of Karen (pretty dark considering her origins), and then you can progress to Bendis' stuff all the way to current.
sorry for the ridiculous delay in response. I posted that at work.
the details are as follows:
the comic would follow the four-kid crew of Starcat, a mysteriously deserted, 100+ year old spaceship and their efforts to get home with an overarching mystery regarding what wiped out Starcat's crew, why they're on a spaceship so old why they're even there to begin with.
the crew are:
The eldest of the group and the effective captain. She makes it her duty to look after the others and control Starcat back to Earth. In spite of the respect her crew gives her, Bianca often feels the pressure of being captain all too sharply and occasionally has her confidence fail on her. part of her running character arc would be that she becomes a strong and confident leader.
Bianca is a relatively tall ginger-haired girl of about 16. she has a little spattering of freckles and small glasses. her default outfit would be based around a red coat
Craig looks after Starcat's computer systems and reports directly to Bianca. He is the only one of the four to have access to the ship's computer in an administrative capacity.
As well as helping Bianca make hard calls and helping to get Starcat back on track, Craig is the most acutely interested in what happened on the ship. This often brings him into conflict with Ben and Bianca, but Craig is determined to unravel all the mysteries.
Craig is a relatively scraggly albino kid. He is 14 and his default outfit is based on an aviator's jacket and rough trousers.
Ben is the closest thing Starcat has to an engineer.
He can often be found fixing the many problems with Starcat and keeping the engine in tip-top shape.
He is vital to the team's successful arrival on earth because of his extensive knowledge of all the mechanical systems and the safe operating limits of the massive rocket that powers Starcat.
Ben is the same age as Craig but far more forthright. He is also the most irritable.
Ben's outfit is a set of messy overalls.
The youngest of the crew, 12 year old Esther is the communications and sensors officer aboard Starcat.
Esther possesses an incredibly sunny personality and will offer her support to any of the crew, irrespective of any tensions that might arise between the others. Esther is also the only one that Bianca feels she can be completely honest with, although she feels conflicted about sharing her woes with such a young and cheerful girl.
Esther also shares Craig's interest in the murky past of Starcat and often helps him with his investigations.
Esther is of Idian/Afghan extraction but speaks perfect english. her outfit is based around grubby t-shirts and casual clothes.
Starcat itself is a massive spaceship, comprised of two large hulls (hence the "cat" part of the name) connected by a single, central wing that also bears the single rocket that powers it through space.
Throughout the storyline, it is revealed that they are being followed by a stealth battleship, called USS Gemini, privately owned by the Aurora corporation, who are responsible for their being left on Starcat. The crew are part of a "control" group involved in testing expendable clone humans used to take spaceships home in the event that the crew gets wiped out. They were never supposed to survive and in the last few episodes of the comic, the crew of Starcat would get taken aboard Gemini for the grand finale.
Hey Riddler, I pinged you yesterday about opening box 3, still don't know what the letters should be. I get the relationship between the hint files, and I know the words the letters spell out, but they spell out a hint within a hint and no clear direction afterwards.
Without giving away too much, don't think too hard about it, sometimes things are just spelled out.
I'll take this time to ask, hows the puzzle going folks? Anyone on Box 4 or 5 yet?
You can post your list once per thread, so it's never too late!
not practicing, my parents practically fucking hate me but my grandparents convinced them not to cut off all ties to me and I live with my grandpa now, who stopped practicing years ago when he was diagnosed with cancer
/co/ Christmas thread - my safe haven. Spent the last few hours vomiting relentlessly, so needed cheering up, and a nice long story time really did the trick. But then I puked again. So y'know. Swings and roundabouts.
Hello friends, the last few days I've been promising to do Lobster Johnson, and I finally have some time. So here we go!
Lobster Johnson: A Chain Forged In Life

So /co/ just to get a discussion going, what was your first secret santa gift from here?
For me, I was having a terrible December with illnesses in the family some years back. I had been on a short fuse for months and the girlfriend was trying to relax me whenever I got in, encouraging me to relax but I couldn't turn the brain off. She handed me a package and I didn't remember ordering anything.
In there was a copy of The Book Thief, with a message on the slip inside. I was stunned and she said "what is it?". It's strange. I was focused on all the negativity, thinking I had to push myself harder to 'fix' things. Work became depressing but I had to push myself through. I have a chronic illness and was being pushed out the door for it.
I smiled and looked at the girlfriend and this will sound so fucking stupid... but it put things into perspective. Somebody made the effort to do that, not knowing what it would mean. It was a random act of kindness. And it's nice to know that good people are out there.
The following couple of years, I left my job. I worked somewhere that valued me and paid me accordingly. Ever since, when Secret Santa threads came about, I gave a little back. I wanted to invoke that feeling in others. I don't namefag it up during the year, but I see the people who contribute and do storytimes. sometimes when we feel shitty, a comic dump can cheeer us up. It was important to me to pass that feeling on. So I do.
/co/ is love in every sense of the word. Merry Christmas all.
Which box? I stated that it would be in either of these formats PASSWORD/password/Pass Word. More specifically if it's not in all Upper/Lower than the only letters that would be capitalized are the starting letters of words
>what was your first secret santa gift from here?
First year I participated was 2010. Got a trade of Old Man Logan and a metal keychain with the GL logo. Today it's the only thing on my key ring that doesn't get me into something, be it my car, house or beer.
The next year I got an OMAC action figure. That was pretty neat too.
>got my rent figured out and the leasing company I rent my apartment from refunded me 1000$ from the buggered up payment
Hooray! That means my cash is back in my account and Imma gonna gift some more anons and everything when I get home from work!
Don't forget, I'm still taking requests for christmas carols on piano if there's a holiday tune you want to hear. Expect a collaboration for "Have Yourself Another X-Men Spinoff" later on too.
My first year, I got a copy of Love, Actually, complete with Christmas ornament that's on my tree at home now. Last year I got the first season of Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad and the hardcover of the entire Dungeons & Dragons Fell's Five storyline, which I promptly fell in love with and now perpetually mourn. /co/ has always given me so much, from camaraderie during these threads to news and speculation throughout the year. It's always nice to be able to give something back.
And here's the letter page, if you're into that. Thanks for reading.
>what was your first secret santa gift from here?
Last year was my first time, and after a situation with amazon screwing up and my present not arriving, a kind /co/nadian came through and resent me the fifth and final volume of Lucifer in January, the finale of one of my favourite series ever.
Anyway bought an amazon gift card tonight, and so I'll be gifting when the stupid 24-hour activation time finishes!
No problem, I'm just happy to share the Mignolaverse with more people
Some Anon bought me the first volume of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure back when Stardust Crusaders was the only one officially translated in English. Going through a shitty time when it happened so it made me feel a lot better. Hopefully be able to give back when I get paid and get the brakes on my bike fixed.
Yeah, I initially started when I found out about N52 but most recommendations I got were classics like Sandman. Luckily I snapped out of it and picked up what just interested me.
All I Want For Christmas Is For Eddie To Shut The Hell Up!
Sorry for the shit taste, I tried to keep everything reasonably priced. I enjoyed the puzzles, thank you for making them Mr. Nigma. 1CCEFW54IIFFI
A really cool BPRD patch, I don't have any jackets that I care enough about to sew it on to but the patch has a special place on my shelf and for use as a book mark for books I don't care about.
My first gift was two years ago. Some anon got me the first Tank girl book it was pretty neat, and i bought someone i think the first complete case files of judge dredd.
I'm gonna go through the lists to see about getting a /co/mrad something for Christmas, but how do you buy a gift for someone else on Amazon instead of yourself? I'm not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed. In the meantime, feel free to add my wish list to the master post in case someone else feels charitable.
When I graduate and move out, I'm gonna go across the country and find some nice girl who's really into decorating and dressing up
like cosplayer of life
I'm gonna be like one of those dads in those movie who take lighting the house seriously and competes with his whole block
>mom and dad can't stop me now
the only comics I was allowed to read at my parents were weird religious ones
My grandpa brought me to my first comic shop and bought me a few dozen graphic novels when I turned 15, been hooked since
Here you go congratulations are in order my boy!
Another day of work down, sadly got sent home because I was in over time, the one time I actually want to work.
Anyway how is everyone?
>I'll take this time to ask, hows the puzzle going folks? Anyone on Box 4 or 5 yet?
I gave up before I even figured out the first one.
Yes! It was a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to your next riddles even though I won't submit another list. The challenge itself will be enjoyable. I can hear you groaning already, so without further ado:
4. This was the most fun puzzle, and the most rewarding to solve. I'm pretty sure I'd heard what song this was from some other trivia location, and at first I thought the numbers would correspond to the first of each line, not the real solution.
1. It was cute using /co/ itself as a part of the riddle. It was also the longest to solve, but once I figured out the trend it helped a lot in figuring out how the other riddles were structured.
3. Music! I was in band a few years ago, so this one really brought me back.
5. The answer was in the lyrics from song #4, which was cool. Took a bit of random guessing though.
2. I love picture puzzles, but this one was A) pretty easy, and B) only really solvable if you knew the roygbiv thing, which some anons might not have.
I got the Best of the Spirit last year which was nice.
I always had a soft spot for the first give I GAVE though. I saw a Topps Card book on Mars Attacks and thought that was just so goddamn cool.
I even sent the anon a note done in all ACKs. Hope they enjoyed it.
My senior year of college I was working as an undergrad TA in the Biology department and my professor took all of us out for Thai food before break started.
And by "all of us" I mean me and one other grad TA because no one else showed.
It was super awkward.
I'm jealous. About the pizza and whiskey part.
Sounds pretty fun at least! I've got no one around me that's actually into reading comics beyond your typical Batman stories and movie adaptions.
Decorating is for the weak, unless you keep them on your house all year round, then I approve.
Well well well if it isn't Designated Dave.
Well, the big file I was going to use is taking it's sweet time so here's another short
Anyone read Get Jiro? I really hope I won't be beheaded for not doing everything perfectly
I wish. Can't wait for teleportation to be a thing, I'd love to eat dinner with the Secret Santa thread crew.
will do, love me some unagi
oh god my most awkward club dinner was when I briefly hung out with some weebs and went to an anime club meal, it was so weird.
Awww. Yeah, most of the club is pretty casual but we get a budget from the student union to buy comics for the library so I've been trying to expand people's horizons.
Damn you Arch
Check your wishlist. (;
I love me some sausage but not on my pizza. I'm a fuckin weirdo.
You're too kind.
Enjoy the show haha

Glad you had fun. I'm a huge fan of hiding things in plain sight. I think the dimensions thing might be one of my more favorite hints I've done in ages. The puzzle picture was a bit weak, but it seemed to work on some Anons, I might be switching that up though soon.....
Sorry Anon check out the write up here and tell me what you think http://pastebin.com/KG02gPAn
Keep your eye on the thread Anons for I shall return!
The pastebins are updated to this point, we're up to 40 gifted. and shameless list post 1NVJ8QWRBXRRK
Since alan tudyk and nathan fillion are pushing to be Booster and Beatle I'm ecstatic for it.
My first venture into this was 2011 I received Serenity: Those left behind, before that the only thing I got that don't know where it came from was a random mix CD that appeared in my locker back in high school.
>we're up to 40 gifted
I'm sadly only 4 of those so far, but I'll keep gifting more and more as we o on hopefully. My check last week was disappointing as fuck.
Put your thinkin' caps on
My check today was similar I'll be holding off on buying gifts for anons until the next check, but I've been thinking of doing some sort of contest and the top 3 can get custom s.h.i.e.l.d. badges like this http://i.imgur.com/hFOevax.jpg and yes I? know it's a terrible picture of me.
40 as of 7 minuets ago.
Last one because I'm sure you're all tired of Jughead and Friends hahah
And that's all for now haha.
Back to lurking for wishlists in my price range!
No more shamless list posting for you! Consider yourself gifted anon.
heres mine 2YTJ8S13O2ILD
Oh I've seen it, and seen it, and seen it. Loved it, my only issue is that it doesn't leave much to the imagination. We can all guess what's gunna happen in the movie now but I'm still beyond excited!
thank you kind spongeanon I wll remove myself from the ungiftedlist.... though I can't promise I won't post my wishlist in other threads.
Well I can agree that we can kinda piece together an idea of the movie but I'm more curious why there's soldiers with supe's logo
At least it's not another origin movie.
The design I'm not 100% sold on but Doomsday is just such an non-character that I don't mind. I want the pony tail at least but I think that's a little less likely than more spikes even.
I guess it's not 100% confirmed technically, but that whole part is supposed to be a dream sequence.
Well now that I see how it's done, I want to cry.
oh, like what bats sees the world can turn into... could be. There is an interesting theory that jared leto's joker is actually a mindwashed robin.
I really hope the Joker theory ain't true. I was pretty bummed about how Harley looks too. It's a shame we'll never her see her in Harlequin again.
Hindsight is always 20/20. Don't worry having a different thought process isn't a bad thing.
Yeah that's a shame, but I always preferred The Trickster's Prank myself.
It was a shame she was never placed into comics like Harley was.
That said....I'm only gonna watch that for Digger
I hadn't heard that one before. But there is a scene with Bats holding a large rifle so who knows how far he may fall.
I think it will pop up again in the future, but probably more for a cameo like as a onesie pajama
I just don't even know what's happening with Harley these days. Nothing I've read about her recent stuff sounds good. Injustice was a least funny with her.
Hmm I thought I saw her somewhere, but I might just be thinking of a cartoon that had her.
I'm feeling kind of down today, /co/. My Christmas cheer is losing. How are you guys doing?
And repostan again:
For those of you who weren't here the last couple of years, I did various Christmas contests and would gift someone who I arbitrarily chose as the winner. I intend to keep that tradition alive this year.
I decided to get started with a (relatively) big challenge: Write a Christmas story featuring /co/ characters. Maybe Lex Luthor decides he hates Santa because he challenges human superiority. Maybe the Flash has to sub in for Santa one night and deliver presents around the world (has that been done? That must have been done before). It doesn't have to be long, just something short and simple, but the more Christmas special-y the better. If you're a drawfag and want to draw it out instead, that's fine too.
Send your submissions to [email protected] Or you can post them in the thread, but just make sure I see them. I'll give everyone until the weekend to put something together, so don't feel rushed. At the end I'll share them with the thread and crown a winner. Make sure to include your wishlist with your submission.
I mean, as far as I know she's only in the 90's Flash show.
But...I think she'd as easy a fit.
Easier even, since her character would slide in well with the more adrenaline idiot Axel
Man, that batman noel storytime was really cool, I was thinking of gifting something for christmas to the friend who got me interested in comics and now I know what.
Leaving my list: 2SSADKFWV7R4Q .es
>I'll give everyone until the weekend to put something together
So whens the cut off time? And out of curiosity, how many stories have you gotten so far? Have any been posted in the thread yet?
