I keep catching these threads early. How's December treating everyone? Anybody received their gifts yet?
And, for a point of discussion once kind anon finishes his story time; favourite Christmas songs? Let's make a /co/ playlist!

YLO7PRZQ8TYU (.co.uk)
>>
>>77865388
>once kind anon finishes his story time

My bad, i should've said it was done. I forgot that the last page doesn't say END.
>>
Reposting, then off to another thrilling day at work:
For those of you who weren't here the last couple of years, I did various Christmas contests and would gift someone who I arbitrarily chose as the winner. I intend to keep that tradition alive this year.

I decided to get started with a (relatively) big challenge: Write a Christmas story featuring /co/ characters. Maybe Lex Luthor decides he hates Santa because he challenges human superiority. Maybe the Flash has to sub in for Santa one night and deliver presents around the world (has that been done? That must have been done before). It doesn't have to be long, just something short and simple, but the more Christmas special-y the better. If you're a drawfag and want to draw it out instead, that's fine too.

Send your submissions to [email protected]. Or you can post them in the thread, but just make sure I see them. I'll give everyone a week to put something together, so don't feel rushed. At the end I'll share them with the thread and crown a winner. Make sure to include your wishlist with your submission.
>>
Good night /co/
>>
>>77866334
G'night, anon. :)
>>
>>77866334
Good morning!
>>
>>77866218
>I'll give everyone a week
You should just put a real due date on this now.
Would you prefer DC or Marvel?
>>
I got well and truly shafted this year. Losing my job on Christmas day and my son was recently born. Shitcakes. I'm getting a fat redundancy payoff, so .co.uk folks make sure your addresses are in order. I have no idea what the future brings but these threads made xmas the last couple of years enjoyable. Also, has anyone else noticed that Amazon now shows the wishlists of people you've past gifted on a sidebar? I've got minifigs and a few others on it. Never noticed it before.
>>
Well, it seems quiet at the moment so I'm going to dump a storytime. One of my faves - Sin City, Silent Night.

Just reposting my wishlist here. I hope everyone's December is treating them well. Has anyone had snow yet? Not even a single flake dropped here in my neck of the woods as of yet.

There was a really nice, heavy fall of perfect packing snow a week ago, but it's long melted and now it's just grey and rainy.
>>

She's getting better thanks. Just a lot of worry but the pay off is worth it. She played Isaac more than me and got Plat God. And that's very kind of you, thank you, but you don't have to do that. Plus we're playing it on PS4 lol

We had some like a week ago but it only lasted for about a day before it vanished, I don't have high hopes for a white christmas

Still pretty christmasy around here though I guess.

Hey /co/, what's your list of recommended Christmas classics for each year? I figure the obvious ones such as Grinch and Nightmare Before Christmas are on there, but I'd like to know what movies you guys always watch around Christmas time.

That list sure is taking a while to get updated.

Jingle All The Way and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation are musts for me. And Santa's Slay during the 13 Days of Creepmas.

Got a little sidetracked earlier, but I'm finishing up the Flash scrib now, Man-Thing/Swamp Thing up next.

Hey Scribs, since Samurai Jack just got announced to be returning next year, think you could do something involving Jack? Doesn't matter what he's doing, just as long as it involves Jack (and possibly Aku if you can make Mr. GREAT FLAMING EYEBROWS work).
>>

It was last updated yesterday. If you want you can go to the last thread and manually cross-reference the list with the codes that were gifted in-thread. I'd just wait and hope the guy in charge does his job though.

"Muppet Christmas Carol", maybe Alistair Sim's "Scrooge" if I'm feeling in a classical mood. Which reminds me, I still haven't watched Patrick Stewart's "A Christmas Carol", and I've had the DVD for two years...

>3 - "Tis The Season" in Uncle Scrooge #251
>4 - "Christmas in Shacktown"
>5 - Green Lantern: Mosaic #9
>= - Elvira's Haunted Holiday Special
>= - Batman: Noel

And that's just off the top of my head.

I check all the wishlists for purchases at least once a day, I then remove all of the wishlists that have had purchases on them since 11/27/15 and remove them from the ungifted list. If I happen to see someone post that they've purchased a gift for a someone I'll check and make sure something is showing as purchased then I'll pull them from the ungifted list.

>>
>>77879024
I know it's happened, and in the past we've caught them and I put them in the naughty list, but there's not much I can do other then people posting that they've bought for them.

But I try to keep it as organized as I can without us trying to pair up people or doing an email pool and both of those ideas have been shot down in the past.
>>
>>77879042
Right, but Elusive was saying if someone says they've bought something for someone he checks the purchased list to make sure there something there before pulling them from the ungifted list. I'm just saying he could check and find nothing because it's been deleted. Granted I hope no one does it, it has happened.

Really just depends. We don't have a list closure so people keep getting added as time goes on. So the list can shrink and grow quite a bit! You can also just be unlucky or have gifts that no one really wants to give. Best advice is to keep your wishes under $20, post early, and of course partake in the Christmas joy since it's better to give than receive! Like hell it is, it's all about the presents son.

It can, I gifted several Anons in Canuckleduh and Europe in the past. It will be converted to local currency in the final charge. It'd also be good to look and double check that your card issuer doesn't do anything funny with currency change like adding fees, though I'm pretty sure Amazon just charges in your currency and then middlemans it.

>>
How do you get the link for your wishlist?
>>
>>77879478
looking back over the wishlist the guy with one textbook, it was £215.00 so yea.... I don't even think Santasied would buy that for them.

And I do keep an eye out for people from previous years ungifted list and if they show up and remain on this years ungifted. I'll point any out down the road to try to make sure they don't keep not getting gifts. But it does make me wonder because we've had people post saying they've not been gifted any of the times they've entered but we've only had like 5 people that were on the ungifted list last year that were also the year before and I made sure they got something before it was over.

The tools download will give you a prebundled setup that includes the basic tools for file analysis/gpg to decrypt the file. The Puzzle link is the actual puzzle box. You need to find it's password then decrypt it with gpg and then you'll get a zip file which contains a hint and another encrypted file. Keep doing this until you reach the end! You can also set up your own linux install which generally makes things easier, but is outside the scope me writing up for you.

Japan. Christmas here is more of a boyfriend/girlfriend thing than family based, that's what New Year is for.

It would be okay if I could nip to Tokyo and meet fellow expats, but I can't due to the work schedule. Plus I kind of live in the middle of nowhere!

I get compulsary 9 days off for New Year which I was planning to either go home to Britbongland to meet family or do fun expat things, but realised it's too much money to justify going to see family just for barely a week, and my friends get waaay more time off than me so are going away for nearly a month from just before Christmas.

I wouldn't feel right posting my wishlist thingy, financially I'm in quite a good place right now just a tad lonely at times.

Might leave early next year so it's not all bad! I do like /co/ times though.

>>77881910
It's in the readme. First you download the tools. Then you run the install.bat after which a window is opened and you'll see a tools folder/run.bat, hit run.bat and you've got a set up cmd prompt ready to go.

And finally in a fixed post

Why hello Batboobs. I know you think this is the time to celebrate, but what for? After all you'll never be as clever as me and you'll certainly never get a present from me. This first one is going to be quite a doozy. Sometimes the simplest DIMENSIONS can be the most complex!

>>77882877

My hours arent as crazy as the Japanese staff, but my company is renowned for being almost slavedriver like for its foreigner staff because they know the turnover is so high so they milk us for all we are worth!

I get to work around 12.30 normally, finish around 9.45 weekdays, with a 40minute break, then on weekends start at 9 and finish around 7, same break, with Monday/Tuesday usually off unless something changes.

Vacation wise I get nothing for the first 6 months, then 10 days in theory that I have to ask for permission to use, with no public holidays off and no weekends off.

I'll most likely be leaving at the latest March, 6 months will be enough for me, maybe earlier if I've really had enough!

The main reason I stay is that for the japanese staff their job is usually more stressful than mine and if I leave them then they will have a horrible time getting a replacement. I'm too loyal for that, for now!

It's your old pal Hank! Last night we had some laughs solving an inordinately difficult Christmas cryptogram for a fabulous prize!

No prize tonight, but I'm putting together some special puzzles for more giveaways in the near future!

In the meantime, let's have some laughs and maybe get a little practice with another puzzle!

>A place, a story.
EWDI JW TELKV YKNJY'F DJXL, ORKKB W JKLJA GWRRJD OXDB, ZUITI K GEXUIT VKJY UIT MKML, NF W PWFEDM TKM XNO UDB.

T = R...sometimes
K is always a vowel
A = Y...always
W = A...sometimes

I ask that you spoiler the solution when you get it for late players.
Otherwise, hop in your hammock and have fun!!

I always get so sad this time of the year and I'm trying not to be. Any ideas on how to stop the Holiday blues? I'm trying to be more festive outside of work. I even got a new tree this year and started making wreaths.
As for music I love big band Christmas songs, it's a nice change from the Motown I'm use to hearing at work.

Yeah, or how Kansas City is in Missouri.

I actually made a mistake. No one says derro, we say derel. Slang is just a lot of abbreviations or references. For instance when screwing something in you say righty tighty, lefty loosey. With that in mind, if I'm giving someone directions I might tell them to hook a lucy to take a left, and then to take a right I'll say hang a ricky, and that comes from Ricky and Lucy from I Love Lucy.

Nah, I actually just looked into it and they're two separate cities that share a state border. Kansas City, MO was created 2 decades before Kansas City, KS.

Man, thread slowed right down to a crawl. Who's still here? Who's excited for the Blue and Gold movie?

>Who's excited for the Blue and Gold movie?
As a man who might be one of the biggest fans of Booster and Beetle out there I have literally no faith in it being good, and I'm a big fan of what we have of the "DCEU" so far. I just can't see it being good at all.

A Booster solo? Sign me up, he's got plenty to build up on.

A Beetle movie? Jaime sure sure, he's got appeal. Ted I can't see working well but I'd accept it.

A Blue and Gold movie would be full of the worst jokes possible, if they want to establish them throw them in as secondary characters. No need to have a quipfest.
>>
>>77893071
I'm supremely stoked for the movie, kind of hoping it'll keep the fun of something like The Flash show rather than whatever they're trying to do with BvS.
>>
>>77893214

Actually the trailer for BvS that dropped today has given me a lot more hope in the movie.

Still not sold on Eisenberg Lex, but everything else looked pretty damn solid.

>>77893174
Why should a Booster/Beetle anything not be a quipfest?
Why can't we have a comedy cape movie?
>>
>>77893266
More like the movie ends up being called Gotham: Black, Blue, & Gold
>>
>>77893263
I CAN'T ACCEPT IT! We go from not seeing Ted in a comic for 2 years, Booster not having a solo in 5 years, Jaime being regulated to cameos to all of a sudden having a movie.

IT'S NOT FAIR AND IT WILL NOT BE GOOD.

Even JL3001 can't give me my dose of Ted and Booster anymore.
>>
>>77893266
>the movie ends up called Blue vs Gold
I wouldn't mind. Although that might be because I'm used to toku using "vs" simply to mean team up/crossover.
>>
>>77893318
It's just not necessary to make a movie about them. I don't want to put it out there, but to me Ted and Booster's bromance is played up way more than it's actually shown. Most of the time they're in a comic together they're fighting, They spent a good chunk of JLI hating each other, and I just feel like there's a lot better choices for a comedy.
Ted and Booster's best moments in comics for me really didn't have anything to do with each other.
>>
>>77893390
How would you feel if the movie had Lord kill Ted?
>>
>>77893473
Better. Booster is at his best when he's a sad sack of shit, and Max Lord is at his best when he's an arrogant villain.

Sure his in-universe reason for becoming a villain isn't the best but the character is fun as hell.

I saw a joke post a little while back with someone mentioning Key and Peele as Blue and Gold. THAT would be interesting, at least.

And Justin Beiber as Booster would be interesting too. What's that matter?

Ehhhh that would only worsen my fear if they got two guys only known for comedy.

I think they were looking at Alan Tudyk for a part and he said if they're willing to partner him with Nathan Fillion they're both down.

I can honestly say I have no interest in a Booster Gold/Blue Beetle movie. Maybe JLA rejects, but supporting their own film.

But then again, a decade ago I said the same thing about Ant-man.
