How do the Japs feel that the US is now making better toku series then them
Do you think the US can buy their more obscure properties and make them more accesable?

>Do you think the US can buy their more obscure properties and make them more accesable.
You mean remove the charm a lot of old toku have. I would roll my eyes if they were to make a westernized Kamen rider movie only to joke about saying rider kick when attacking.

Superhero movies are only like Japanese "toku" in the sense that they both use "special effects".
Japanese toku is the way it is specifically because of the preference for physical costumes and practical effects, TV series format, primarily child audience (not just manchild), and etc. One of the reasons the Attack on titan movie was well regarded (at least in the toku sense) was the way it brought out physical suit actors and whatnot to play the titans.
Also, Toei and co are not that interested in the global market (though they'll happily sell rights to Saban etc. to make local versions) because toku shows are part of the Japanese celebrity assembly line. They put in young stars for a year in a toku show, after which they graduate to solo careers and appear in commercials and whatnot.
for ex. there's a new drama on Netflix starring the guy who was in Kamen Rider wizard. On my vacation to japan last month I saw three commercials starring Fourze, and so on.
That's not really transferable outside Japan or even the overseas toku audience (which likes toku for the same reasons Japanese do), so outside of people maybe trying to make a mass-market hollywoodized power rangers movie or adapting kamen rider, there's little chance that Marvel or whoever would just "buy out" toku lines.

The nearest equivalent to a 'toku' show would be Doctor Who and the Flash.
Believe me they aren't that good.
Why is this man's opinion held with such high regard in the comic book community? He made a few good movies I get it, good on him, but why does that equate to Jesse Jackson of comic books? It seems like he blows his load at every decision, no matter how ill advised that is made regarding movie adaptations.
His Daredevil run was bretty good. Also dug his Green Arrow stuff.
>>81044512
He's idolized because he's the living the average comic fan's dream:
-Loves comics and owns his own comic shop, gets paid to write them and guest star in tv and movie adaptations.
-Has enough money to afford to have his friend's toilet fixed after he rips it off the wall by being too fat to poop
-Has a kid, which means he's had sex at least once. Named her Harley Quinn, which means it was with a woman who was at least cool enough with his hobbies not to immediately leave him for suggesting it. Now you might say "She only stayed for the money!", but honestly I think wanting to name your baby girl after a psychopathic clown whore would have been grounds to divorce him and get it all.

Based Frank
>>81044184
I feel like, ideally, he would have tortured the name of his supplier out of him first. So he could kill up the whole supply chain. That's actually a benefit of going through legal means; the opportunity to put away bigger fish.
Anyway, yes Frank is based.
>>81044250
Of course he did. What do you think he was doing while Matt was knocked out.
>>81044282
The show didn't imply that in any way.
If the Flash goes so fast that in his perspective things slow down then does that mean that if he wanted to run to Paris and back it'd feel like 2 years of walking even though it was only like a fraction of a second?
>>81044151
I think about this a lot. Maybe as long as he thinks "This feel like it's taking forever but I know I'm going hella fast" he won't lose his fucking mind.
But idk. Speed Force, ain't gotta explain shit.
>>81044151
Nope
Generally no, the speedforce is userfriendly.
Super Skrull is my fucking fav, are there any comics with him good or bad
green thread, anything green?

NIGGA WHY THE FUCK YOU ASKIN THIS QUESTION
I hope so. I also hope it's magic and not "We're not Gods" science.
I really want it to be good.
Then again, it's from from director Scott Derrickson, who hasn't had the best track record. Then again, Jon Spaihts and C Robert Cargill are good writers (bad parts of their films were out of their control), so it could go either way.
But it's precisely when humor is offensive that we need it most. Comedy should provoke. It should blast through prejudices, challenge preconceptions. Comedy should always leave you different than when it found you. Sure humor can hurt even alienate but the risk is better than the alternative; a steady diet of innocuous, child proof, flavorless mush. Demand to be challenged, to be offended, to be treated like thinking, reasoning adults and raise your children to be the same. Don't let a comedian, a network, a congressional committee, or an evil genius take away your freedom to laugh at whatever you want.

>>81042247
But people could get upset.
And then they may not like you or think you're a good person.
You don't want THAT, now do you?
>>81042247
comedy challenging people with power and influence is brave. comedy attacking the poor and downtrodden is just bullying. going on a racist tirade built on widespread prejudice doesn't challenge anything.
and if you cow at the thought of getting heckled for your opinions you never should have gotten into comedy.
Bendis is such a fucking hack.

tbf Google actually was in beta 18 years ago, maybe Tony just had super-duper early beta access because he sank money into search engines in the 1990s.

>Batman v. Superman: Title of Longevity fails to reach 1 billion
>investors frantically try to put the pieces back together
>DC Studios emerges from the ashes of Warner Bros. in a last ditch effort to rival Marvel Studios
>finally you, as president of DC Studios, have creative control with the greatest DC writers and experts at your disposal
What film to you start with to save this new DC Cinematic Universe?
What films do you have to follow up?
Who will you choose to direct this first film? Who will write it?
What will you do to differentiate your DCCU from the trainwreck known as the DCEU?
Replace Cyborg with Martian Manhunter and adapt the dcau origin.
>>81040168
Get someone from the industry to lead it. Even Grant Morrison could do a better job of creative leadership than whoever's running the ship at WB right now.
>>81040168
I make a Captain Marvel movie that you can happily let your 4-year old watch unattended.
