This is what happens when you put your main character on a pedestal and give him plot armor, it will feel like he never learnt anything and everything centers around him being right all the time.

He almost is from the Gems' standpoint, and that's kind of the point. They keep showing how much pressure that puts on him.

Personally I feel it is best to watch something to enjoy it as it is. It seems really weird to want to watch a thing with as little watching as possible.
"Hey guys, how can I watch this thing without actually watching a lot of it?"

At any rate, the show is about Steven. It focuses on him. He's an earnest, goofy kid. I like watching him do things.

Cause they're ordered to drag things out. It's an ongoing cartoon, not some planned mini-series.

That's why it took forever for them to catch Peridot.

It started off really well, loved the first season. Had a really campy, yet adventurous and mysterious feel to it. Season 2 started out great, and then it felt kinda rushed towards the end. Still really enjoyable, at least imo

As far as Marvel goes if you're looking for a recent jumping on point I say yeah just go with All-New All Different. I use the Wikipedia page as a reading guide.

Also you dont have to read EVERYTHING. Alot of people getting into comics make the mistake of trying to be completionists. But these companies put out more comics than we can read. I say if you're not enjoying a book by issue 5 just drop it and come back to it when a new writer jumps onboard.

P.S- To the mod who deleted my last post and accused me of deliberately "race-baiting", I was just scrolling through Defenders tags on Netflix, saw the newest set pics, which included a funny picture of Luke busting out a funny move with an unimpressed Misty watching, and threw it out for /co/ to caption and for the thread to hopefully snowball into show discussion. Call me naive, maybe, but that was what i'd hoped. The thread was deleted, before I could explain myself.
