Yo /biz/,

Question for crypto oldfags. When the DAO hack happened and there was a hard fork that resulted in two cryptocurrencies emerging from what used to be a single one, how was this actually reflected in the wallets of people holding the original currency?

Obviously, Ethereum Classic just continued the blockchain so everything stayed the same with that and 1 ETH that was in your wallet pre DAO was now just called 1 ETC.

What I'm confused about was how people became holders of the new ETH?

When the hard fork happened did wallet holders get to decide whether they wanted to keep their balance in ETC or ETH or how the fuck did this work?

I have about 5K to invest in something other than the stock market. Im aware of the cryptocurrencies but I dont know too much, and im too busy to research it on top of my job and the regular stock market, plus i have a family

So I came here to make an offer. 99% of this board looks like either shills or faggots pushing coins they are invested in, which is stupid and wont do anything by the way, but it seems like a few here might actually be good at this

IF anyone is interested, I want a run down of how to buy currency, and which are the best long term holds and short term active ones to buy.

If I make any money, I will pay the person who helped me 10% of my returns per month on the active trades and 10% at the end of the year on the holds (if you can even hold them that long, otherwise I will adjust)

What you need - proof that you have been successful yourself in several different trades

- an email address

I am aware that you will think I won't pay, however once communication is established we can write up a contract.

Dude just take your 5K, pick a bunch of promising coins (this is the hard part - you have to do research to find good value props), invest, set losses/limits (eg 50% out at 2x to retain original investment or whatever you choose) close the computer and check back every week.

How to buy - set up an account with coinbase, wait for verification, deposit USD (protects against fluctuations with their shit lead times), buy then transfer out to an exchange like polo or bittrex.

If you want to get aggressive with ICOs, you NEED to use parity or my ether wallet - important to use ETH. ICOs don't take coins from exchanges due to the way they 'recognize' your transfer or some shit. Interesting recent ICOs include BAT. Upcoming one many people are watching is Bancor.

Active trading is more difficult - you can scalp or go for TA or watch the charts for shit like the drop in ETH yesterday - went to .085, tested bottom MACD etc etc recovered to .098. Biz isn't the best place for TA.

> I want a run down of
>how to buy currency
You must first verify your identity on coinbase, Kraken or Gemini. Coinbase is the quickest and easiest. You can then use a credit card to buy up to $500 instantly, or link your bank account and buy up to $5k (takes a week or so to verify bank, and another week for the transaction itself. I personally haven't used kraken or gemini, but I believe they require you to wire money to them.

>which are the best long term holds and short term active ones to buy
Safe long term holds imo would be:

Bitcoin
Ethereum

but if I were you, I'd diversify over the top 10 or so currencies (with probably 60-70% in BTC and ETH).

If you want info on all of the currencies, coinmarketcap.com is the place to go. You can see trends of all coins since their introduction (and hourly, daily, and weekly percent gain/loss).
>>
>>2283608
To add to this, coinmarketcap has a link to each coin's website so you can do research on your investments to see if a coin is legitimately worth buying or a bunch of hot air.

My friend's dad works as an advisor for BAT and can't believe how successful the ICO was considering they have zero advertisers or publishers signed to the platform. He said Brendan Eich rarely comes out of his office and heard him shouting "faggot" over and over again on the phone. He said one of the secretaries was crying and most still hadn't unpacked their cubicles.

Why aren't you getting into VOX, /biz/?

>innovative combination of VR and crypto
>marketcap only at 1 million
>active dev team with public identities

I've already doubled my money in two days. The room for growth is enormous, while the market is saturated with dogshit coins with over 100 mil caps that have nothing unique about them. I wouldn't be surprised if the price goes up 20x in the following months

>>
how does the coin fit into the VR experience?
>>
>>2283338
it's easy, you just combine VR and crypto
>>
>>2283287
VOX is not worth it IMO.

>engine is dated
>target market is unclear
>the whole coin aspect is completely unnecessary
>the coin itself does nothing new. I mean nothing whatsoever.

Who is this engine targeted for? Kids? It surely isn't targeted for developers who can find other stuff that is far more powerful and free. Whats the point? What does owning the currency allow you to buy? Proprietary skins/models from an already graphically dated engine?

If this wasn't so wishy-washy, and they had a solid demographic and a solid product that wasn't ALREADY so niche to begin with (game dev is VERY niche) then I'd say it's worth investing into. But none of these things are satisfied.

And on top of that, I don't even think the coin itself offers any new tech.

I HAVE DIAGRRAMME FOR YOU

This coin is absolute trash.

Their website is garbage and full of a bunch of non-specific claims and its coded like three monkeys taped it together.

Their claims are huge with no prototype to back it up.

Im not saying its a scam, but there are other coins with way more to back their claims up.

At the moment this coin is all air (and shitty air at that) with nothing actually going on.

I didn't know /biz/ is a gathering of imaginary shekel traders.
I've read a few threads but I still have no idea how you guys trade those things.
Is there a guide/infographic on how to set up a wallet and how and where to trade coins?
Does it depend on the country of residence or I can trade from every part of the world?

ETH will go up steadily.
BAT will go up slightly, then drop like a rock when people realize that it's mathematically provable to have no value.
DGB and SC are wildcards, but I think they'll moon eventually, maybe after some months.

I work in management of a big retail company and make pretty good money and do crypto trading when I get off and I'm bored.

I made some minimal investments of ~200 -300 dollars just to play around back in september and those have turned into around 5 grand so far.

Do any of you do this as a source of primary income? I've got around 20k I could use to start more investments on top of the 5k I have in wallets and exchanges. If I just keep doing what I'm doing could I quit my shitty job and live pretty comfy?

Anyone else have experience doing this?
