Kind of a cop-out to say, but it depends. Some arts don't mesh together very well, which would mean learning both could actually hinder progress in either. On the other hand, more experience in anything helps to build a rounded sense of what works and what doesn't.

As long as you're working hard every day and actually thinking about the application of what you're learning it doesn't really matter.

Take from each art what works, and forget the rest.

Agreed. I say train one at a time, though. Learn the techniques of one. Throw out what's useless. Then move on to the next martial art.

Taking several at once might be too much information or harmful to your body.
(i.e. you could end up sparring 4-5 times a week and getting your ass kicked to learn nothing.)

the only martials worth knowing are all used in UFC, back in the old days you could use karate and taekwondo, but now these days you will take 1 or 2 moves from it and you wont need to train them.

muay thai
wrestling
judo
boxing
wrestling
sambo
kick boxing
these are the only things worth knowing, as i said you could take a kick or some thing from karate but, there is no reason you would ever need to train other martial arts.

Not really, but many of them dont put in the hard training necessary to compete, an many of them are too technically outdated for the ring.

Lots of weapon arts would fall under the soft arts category, worth knowing is an entirely subjective judgement, though tai chi is not going to beat jujitsu and boxing in the ring
