If you have very old shoes that are falling apart, you probably don't have much money. If you have dirty shoes, you probably don't care about hygiene. If you can't pick out a pair of aesthetically appealing shoes that match your outfit, you aren't attuned to fashion trends, which means you're a bit of an outcast.
