I'll feel safer if you're there", so if she turns into a whore it's probably because of something you actively did to make her that way.

I have. I can't help but feel like that was meant to be a higher corruption scene that just glitches out and happens regardless, or possibly a female PC only scene.
Some of the scenes in this game are just bugged like that. There was apparently one scene between her and a male PC that required such a retardedly high amount of affection that people needed to use Cheat Engine to bump it up high enough to view.
I've also had scenes meant for one PC gender that triggers on the opposite gender...And then turns my character into that gender.
And some scenes still that just refuse to trigger, or trigger wrong if you do something arbitrary beforehand. Like sell stuff, or buy castle upgrades from your Butler.

The game certainly has it's problems on the technical side, and I doubt the MV conversion is going to fix them all.

Sure. This was on my first play through as a female PC.
I purchased a bunch of castle upgrades, not sure which anymore, and then noticed something when going back to check on Meredith.
Zent was in his usual spot on the wall. Only I hadn't actually gotten Zent yet at this point, and this was my first time ever seeing him.

Spotting a new character, I went and talked to him. He spoke to me as if he knew me already, and I had no idea who the fuck he was.
I thought nothing of it, and went on my way, assuming he was just some generic NPC that came with the castle...And then I DID recruit him.
After getting him, none of his scenes or special dialogue would ever trigger, no matter how I tried to tweak his affection.

There was also another instance of purchasing castle upgrades where, checking in on Meredith, it initiated the Female PC/Meredith/Clawyn scene.
This scene, I discovered, triggered out of order, as the context of the scene made it sound like you and Meredith have already fucked before. And then I proceeded to go to my Room where Meredith was waiting, and we proceeded to have our "First time", with her acting like this is the first time the PC and her have ever seen one another naked, despite the fact that we literally just had a lesbian threesome with an elf five minutes prior to her showing up in my room.

I didn't have any problems of that sort when I purchased the Interrogation Room, Bathroom, and defense purchases. Though, I haven't played through the game as a female yet, so maybe it is strictly a bug for the female PC.
To be safe, I guess I'll hold off on purchasing the appearance items, or at least I'll have a save backup incase something goes wrong.

How do I deal with clearing the port in The last sovereign? The monsters there have a move that has a chance to stun, poison, blind, silence, and make fall asleep. AND IT CAN CAST IT ON THE WHOLE PARTY. How do I deal with this?

This isn't some Skyrim-level game here; if it takes someone 200+ hours to familiarize themselves with the small amount of code that's in this game, then I'd be a bit concerned about their skill level.

That said, when I said "2 weeks", I was going off of the mentality of how much I work on stuff a week (16 hours a day roughly, 6 days a week), so I'd figure out a modified payment setup for them that would be fair to both of us if they had a main job they were working on and couldn't spend that much time on it daily as they familiarized themselves with the code.

A better way to word it probably would have been something like "Paid up to 150 hours worth of familiarizing yourself with the code", and the hourly wage for that would be figured out between us so that they felt they were getting paid fairly.

Because getting familiar with code doesn't = building code, lol. You can look at blueprints for a building and understand the building's structure in a few days, but it takes years to actually construct that building. It's the same with programming; the 150-200 hours of code here is condensed down, the stuff that works, after many months of trial and error on things like physics, enemy AI, design choices, the works.

The list of programmers who have applied for his position and then sent me examples or tried doing test works on stuff is pretty high (at least 30 people), and every one of them didn't come close to his skillset. (This is prior to the current wave of applications, I've just opened up email conversations with them, so yeah, no idea how things will work out with them, but I'm staying positive.)

I had one guy with a BA in programming take a full month to try and code a simple slider mechanic (as in, a bar that has a value from 0-100 and you can slide it up and down). I had another person try to even come close to replicating FF's physics engine, spent two months on it, still couldn't get Talia to even jump correctly, let alone anything else, they gave up.

Despite all his delays and problems, Cheshire is still overall the most reliable programmer we have for the game because of his skillset and the inability of what seems like everyone else who's applied (prior to today, again) to do the level of code he's doing. That's also why we've waited so long to get a backup programmer.

I was following the guide exactly til some point, but I accidentally mis-chose an option somewhere so my affection levels differed from the guide's at one point and I didn't have a backup close enough to that point, so I just changed my affection to match what the guide said it should be. After that, I got to a point where the guide said I should be able to access the stable scene, but I couldn't, and from what I read, the only condition was that your affection had to be at a certain level.

No, that's what I did when I started. I made about 40 or 50 or so little games I never released to the public. When I finally finished one for the public it was "Hypno Master", a fairly shit little game that's basically just a few sex scenes strung together. But right after that I was able to leap into a five year long complex game like Overwhored. Getting a solid understanding of the fundamentals and the critical confidence boost of getting a finished game under your belt will help immensely with longer projects in the future.

If you're new to making stuff focus above all else on getting something finished, first. Then work on making something really good once you've made all the newbie mistakes on stupid throwaway projects.

reading through this thread has made me really happy that I have kept coding it, and instead I am outright paying out of my own pocket for artwork for the game. even if the game is forever free, at least once I release it, it will be a good reflection on how much I care about it.
