Even though anyone could have predicted the ending from the first episode, it was still great.

Some really good episodes mixed in with some quite bad ones.
Some episodes could have been removed altogether and other episodes/arcs could have been extended and added upon.

Not as good as it could've been. Only saved because the characters they already created were fantastic. Akko stole our hearts and the emotional attachment you have to her propels you through what is otherwise a very middling series.

I rather liked it and each Sunday was the highlight of my week, but this show really felt like it didn't know what it wanted to be. That said, Akko is a miracle of the universe. One of the best characters in a long time.

He probably has the backgrounds of a lot of things figured out and wants to do something with them, but I have my doubts about his ability to fluently intertwine them into one satisfying story.

Lotte and Sucy really did not get enough development and it felt like they hardly added anything to the final arc.
Seems like a misstep considering how close we get with them in the first half of the show.
Conversely, Diana goes from 'Oujou-sama Side Character' to 'MC Best Friend' in a matter of what, 5 episodes?
Seems like the roles should have been reversed

If trigger kickstarted another movie I'd be up for it, but they can't really be trusted to do another season of LWA. Their charm can only be harnessed in a short OVA and not a series. I still enjoyed it though.

I almost agree with you, this show had a lot of the charm, but it was lost with me durning the "I'm harnessing emotion using a smart phone app" bit, and a war almost starting because of a soccer match. Those elements could have been replaced with something more believable. The show was still very enjoyable, overall.

I watched the show because I wanted more of the OVA but only got that on the last episode.

I still prefer the OVAs, but what we got was sufficiently enjoyable. Some real high points, but there was some meandering at points. Overall not as good as I was hoping/expecting, but still pretty fun.

I just read pic related interview for the first time and I'm so happy to see that respect shoutout for Byron Howard. Holy shit the last episode is cringy as fuck. The overall plot is pretty weak for a Trigger anime. A lot of unnecessary episode and some of the things are just decoration instead of a plot point. The only strong point in this anime is the art. Final episode just doesn't made it. A mediocre anime at best.

I feel really sad that the LWA OVAs are so good but the tv anime is below average compare to other tv anime.

You're right about Jasminka, I love her but she seemed so out of place. Like I don't remember her really getting to do anything, which is a shame.

I think it would have helped a lot if they were shown hanging out more. Doesn't need to be action scenes, but just hanging around as a group while in school, to show they're bonding in some way. Even in the more casual scenes later on, Akko would often be on her lonesome.

Diana ended up being a good character even though I expected not to have interest in her at all, and that's good, but there was no reason she had to overtake the rest. I think the problem is that they didn't seem to give the other characters enough passion of their own, they had no goals to pursue, and they ended up feeling hollow. And I know they're not, but it's been so long since the Sucy episode I keep forgetting the feelings it brought with it.

I don't think so. The art is surely above average but the plot is very bad. The worldview itself is pretty bad. Andrew practically just a trophy the whole series other than the first episode he appeared. They didn't fully use the potential of Ron and Hermione. Most of the character interaction and development feel so forced. Biggest offender is of course Lotte's episode and even Chariot's and Croix's interaction feel very unnatural. The last episode was so bad that it turn out too be kinda good. I was laughing at how ridiculous it is with all the cheering, streaming and government guys talking, also I lost it at the fucking clothes transformation.

I think that for thematic reasons both Diana and Chariot would work, but Chariot would make more sense. After all, the whole story started with Akko wanting to meet Chariot. So it could have ended with Akko and Chariot together saving the world.

Shows don't have to take themselves seriously to be good. Having a lot of heart can compensate for making a lot of sense, and LWA always had heart. It sounds like that isn't really to your taste, and that's fine, but personally, LWA made me smile more than any anime has in years.
