Not particularly. The characters are nowhere near as good as Muse and 3/4 of the series is MUSE MUSE MUSE instead of trying to be it's own thing. For lack of a better word, it doesn't feel "natural". You can tell they are trying to cater to specific niches of the fanbase instead of trying to write a real story first and foremost. One prime example is how much the anime likes to force Chika x Riko.

She ended up finding her buttbuddy with Mikuru though. Ichigo beating her was just the cherry on top of the cake.

My favorite was when Mizuki held a big competition to find an idol worthy of being her partner, only to judge that none of them were.
So she held a second competition to anyway find the one who was least unworthy.

One thing I liked about Aikatsu was how the main characters sometimes compete against each other and sometimes not. They have different niches, and aren't always interested in the same auditions. Or don't really push themselves to the limit for everything, like Ichigo vs Aoi or Shion for Naughty Detectives.

Everyone could be good at their thing, while still competing against each other.
