Recaps are so common anon, no show just tells new fans to gtfo and git gud, they're at least going to recap important details like "Imagine breaker negates all esper and magic powers, this is Index who stays in my dorm" etc, every show does this to an extent nevermind when it's been like 7 fucking years.

You really don't have much sense for this do you? The more hardcore fans of the series are going to want the SoL since they like the characters, the secondaries will want the SoL to get comfortable with the series again. The worldbuilding and less important characters having actual personality have always been a major draw of Index, so these types of "unimportant" scenes are actually fairly important to help the world "breathe" so to speak.

The manga's magazine announced season 2, now that I'm looking back at it. Both seasons were announced in June of their respective years and aired a few months later in Fall.

June is when the manga could be finished with SS1.

I'm really excited about this new arc. Say whatever you want about NT11-17, I'm not here to convince you your opinion is wrong. Hell I might even agree with some or even all of your opinion. But the truth is those 7 novels set up or at least hinted at some pretty interesting things being possible. The biggestcomplaint about NT11-17 was "every volume is a set up" which now makes sense now that we know that the entire arc was just set up I think this new arc is going to be great. Amazing even.
