There's a rule in writing that if you introduce or give focus to something, it has to DO something to justify its presence in the narrative.
Chekov famously articulates this as "if you show a gun hanging on the wall in act 1, it better go off in act 3." Basically, everything you include should matter, and you shouldn't include anything that doesn't matter because that space is better put to use on something that matters.

Nyunyu was introduced in such a way that the audience would assume that she would be important. In the end, she literally shot Chekov's gun, but was useless. It's a joke.

Papika saying 'loved you since you were born' was a conclusion towards the earlier conflict Yayaka brought that she never knew anything about Cocona, and Yayaka has known Cocona for a long time (earlier than a supposedly random stranger that is Papika). I doubt that, considering she was shown in the opening from the start.

Episode 1 was so good I was immediately scared from the beginning that this show wouldn't be able to keep it up and not crash and burn. But the first 11 episodes were great and I had almost no complaints until the last two. I think it could've ended better but desu I had been expecting way worse, and what we got definitely wasn't bad. Fantastic show, easily aoty for me and a contender for best of the decade so far.
