Episode 13 was like an 8.5/10 for me.

The series as a whole was greater than the sum of its parts making it 10/10 overall for me. If I was just to average the scores I would give each episode individually, it would be like a 9.5/10.

I feel like 90% of the issues with the show could have been fixed just by making it 14 or 15 episodes long, and spreading that final episode 12 and 13 arc across more episodes, and giving more time for certain scenes, nice fights, and a meaty epilogue.

The QUALITY was incredibly apparent this time compared to previous episodes, and it felt rushed in places. Also what was that clusterfuck going on in the real world with the playdoh scattered everywhere? It looked ugly as fuck. The sloppiness is expected due to scheduling issues I guess, so can't really blame the staff.

As for the story, not sure how I feel about it overall. There are still unanswered questions, and a lot things were resolved in an anti-climatic way. Also, they went for the safe happy ending which was disappointing (Papika LITERALLY appeared out of the pipe at the end like one anon predicted). Good for them to give senpai resolution though, and the fact that they eventually ended up in a PI that's a bleaker version of her own world was a nice twist that no one saw coming. Even if this show didn't succeed in becoming a masterpiece at least in my view, it deserves recognition for doing what it did and trying to stand out.

She sought Cocona's approval for the painting in the hallway in episode 1 because she still felt shame over making "weird" things

The consequence of Cocona and Papika's meddling in episode 6 was that Blue Iroha switched with orange Iroha

Orange Iroha paints because she enjoys it, and to share that joy with others. She is the Iroha that spent time with Auntie and had Auntie compliment her drawings and tell her it's okay if they're weird.

As a result of the switch, Iroha no longer felt the need to cling to her paintings because she didn't desire approval, and didn't feel the need to paint to deal with her emotions. She could part with that attitude gracefully. Instead, she came around and painted again when she wanted to, because she enjoys painting.

The change was framed as a negative one because it was presented through the eyes of Cocona, who fears change. She overreacted and we, as the viewer, were made to see it the way she did. In reality, it was never a bad thing.

Its just a great show. The artstyle and colors are bold, the characters are likable, more is shown than it is told, there is a lot of subtle development portrayed via character behavior and reaction instead of pure dialogue/monologues. Its also just really fun, and has a layer of depth and mystery to it that most anime explains away.

Also, I am not even a yurifag, but this show made me root for PapiCoco because their pairing is just that good.

For people who were really invested in the relationship between Cocona and Papika (to the point where it's the whole point of their experience I mean), I can see them having enjoyed the finale. They really nailed that tone at least, and emotionally it succeeded. It's just a shame that a lot of things were mediocre from a technical perspective about the episode. BDs will fix everything I guess. Also I'm disappointed Cocona never realized Salt was her dad, even if that was never their intent. I'm probably not alone in not caring about anything involving Salt/Mimi in some way, especially anything to do with the latter.
