Interesting I remember reading people speculating that Yuniko was having difficulties making changes requested to the later scripts by Oshiyama and producers and was taking too long to do it so they got Hiyashi to take over.

Favourite episode was 6. I've never straight up cried while watching anime before. That was a memorable first time.

Preferred Ending:

Things go wrong, we're actually doing an inception and the base world we've seen is the first layer of PI. The ending is all about Cocona getting out of this world and back to actual reality. Expected Ending:

Everything is perfectly fine, cocona gets control back, good mother makes bad mother fuck off. Core to that happening is a scene where cocona gives a decision without the coaxing of salt, mother/s or papi. Mother/s, salt all die to leave her alone, papi some how re-ages.

Basically a generic coming of age story, acceptance of loss (family) and self determination.

Perspective on a lot of scenes changes a lot when rewatching. Of course you notice Papika being attracted to Mimi's smell and having residual memories, but this one was by far the most drastic. Normal PI is relationships between people/objects/whatever else. Then there's a deeper layer that is a person's inner world and according to Hidaka can have ripple effects in the real world, although almost all the effects we've seen so far are explainable by something Mimi said in ep11; Iroha, Mimi and Salt's dad did not become someone else when their deep PIs were messed up, it just brought a different aspect of their personality in to dominance.
