The stupid pace I've had going the last couple weeks is because classes ended and I got free time. You have the first few chapters of Arc 1 (you could buy volume 1 from Yen Press and have all of arc 1 but that isn't free), pretty much nothing from Arc 2, the extra chapters between arcs 2-3, and the first 12 chapters of arc plus some important scenes from it.

I'm kinda glad he didn't. I'm also glad Rem is in a coma now. The thing I like about Rem and Subaru's relationship is how quickly it went from Rem wanting to kill Subaru just for existing to loving him so unconditionally you couldn't call it anything other than admirable. But considering they weren't even a quarter of the way through the series when she confessed, I think there was a need to space out where their relationship was headed. If Rem were still around, I think it would be cruel to not have her be the primary love interest considering they have both confessed to each other already.

Their relationship would just be awkwardly crippled by the fact Subaru is still so enamored with Emilia, and it would be weird to have Rem around waiting for Emilia to return Subaru's feelings so Rem could finally see if they'd be okay with a bigamous relationship and finally take her and Subaru's own relationship to the next step. The triangle in this show is just so slanted toward one side, Rem and Subaru love each other but because Subaru is trying to have his cake and eat it too their relationship can't go forward.

It's also all Emilia's fault, I know this is an anime where it takes years for characters to realize they like each other but the other thing I like about Subaru and Rem is that they weren't like that. Their relationship developed at the pace it should've. If Emilia wasn't so dense, she would have responded to Subaru's feelings already. She should know by this point if she likes Subaru enough to love him or not.

I'm thinking something happens to Emilia when/if Rem wakes up. I don't see the bigamy ending happening, and the romance subplot can't properly advance with both characters existing at the same time. I don't think anyone wants to watch Rem beg Emilia to fuck Subaru so Rem can fuck him herself.

It's much more apparent that it's due to her issues, the gratification he gives her, and barely having meaningful contact outside of Ram and Roswaal. Do you really see Emilia remaining a pure heroine all the way to the end though?

So far she's done hardly anything to redeem herself as a heroine, and has hardly even been present during major events. Not to mention, despite being depicted as a major love interest she has somehow had nowhere nearly as many heart-warming scenes as Rem has had. I've been getting a vibe the whole time that Emilia will eventually leave and wind up doing something fucked up.

Fucking thank you. I've always thought this too. Emilia has gone the whole series without suffering at all, yet people somehow remain convinced Rem is doomed to suffer after 5 arcs of nothing but constant suffering.

Emilia is just such a odd one out in this story, we're expected to love her yet she does nothing to earn it. I'm not sure how much of it is Tappei protecting his waifu or lampshading that she has ulterior motives that would bar her from trying too hard. Either way, she's not earning her heroine or love interest status and popularity polls show it's a serious problem. Emilia needs development, and as Arc 7 approaches it's becoming a little too late for it.

Well, did Tappei consider her a heroine during Arc 3 where she was out of focus after she and Subaru parted ways? It's a pretty vague concept to begin with. These things are already happening on a "smaller" scale in Arc 4. In a way she has the opposite of plot armor or her plot armor is Subaru because she gets fucked over all the time. What that would really mean is whatever shit that's keeping her out the plot has to be resolved within the same arc and not carry over into the next one. At least not consecutively, meaning whatever screws her over in the final arc is a loose end problem (or two) from earlier arcs that wasn't really resolved.

I recall the gist of things, since I was actually the one who decided to confirm the dates. On June 2nd 2014, which would have been around chapters 113 and 114 of Arc 4, he answered a question about how he felt about Rem's popularity outstripping Emilia's by saying Emilia would continue to be the heroine for six remaining Arcs.

In an entirely different conversation, he mentioned that he had originally planned for there to be only 10 Arcs, and added another to his plans during Arc 3. This brings the number up to 11. All of these ideas of Emilia being stripped of her heroine status are born from the realization that 4+6=10, but the 11th Arc was already in the plans by then.

It might mean nothing. It might mean everything.

I mean Subaru said he will save Satella right? What if he does just that? He manages to take the Authority of Envy from her by killing her Witch of Envy persona, leaving the real Satella powerless. Satella is free from the seal, happy things ensue.
Until Emilia, having become king, decides to have a witch hunt. Not only would it be sating a personal vendetta, this would align with her goal of equality as both demihumans and normal humans (while having different reasons for doing so) hate the witch of envy. Thus all the races ally unify under one common goal; the eradication of Satella. Subaru decides to rebel against this (with Rem on board, and possibly others like Otto, Wilhelm Etc.) and defend her as the big bad witch is now a weak powerless girl.

It's interesting how the answer doesn't actually answer the question much at all. However, considering that this is a few days after chapter 113 of Arc 4, and the 11th Arc was added to his plans during Arc 3, you might be able to overanalyze it.

The hands don't seem to be that fast given that Subaru could avoid some. Their main advantage is being unseen and possibly unheard or felt as they approach but I think Julius is very strong either way.

To sum things up, if I were the evil clown wizard I've always dreamed of being, I'd treat my two little oni meidos like precious daughterus to protect and support.

To get more serious, Rem turned down the easy path and chose to do the right thing, and I don't want to see her punished for it. Especially since she's so different from all the aggravatingly cowardly or dense characters you usually see in "romance", without her persistence and boldness being treated as a joke. She put herself out there for him and was willing to expose herself to that vulnerable position of being rejected. That alone makes her more deserving than most girls in this kind of shit.

On the other hand, I'm also quite fond of Subaru. The two of them are cute together, even if he's got this odd fascination with literal retards that kind of creeps me out. They feel better to me as proper partners who can actually relate to one another and possess a similar mental age, which wouldn't necessitate patiently waiting for a the other's 13 year old mind to grow up. I suppose I'm projecting my own unease there.

But yeah. She's good for him, and he's good for her. Their personalities work well together. Subaru would make a fine husbando for Rem.

While Echidna is definitely first for me as of right now, Subaru and Rem's interactions exceed that of *most* others, because when they are together it touches a my heart a little. And is one of the few times I actually enjoy witnessing lovebirds in action. It always feels like whenever something happens with those two, it makes an impact and/or more impactful not to mention their dynamic/dialogue as it is rare for me to see both parties realize their faults when being with one another then actively help correct them or each other like those two do.

There are 2 personalities, Satella (the original) and then The Witch of Envy (caused by extreme incompatibility with the Witch Genes of Envy.
Btw the Satella persona was the one the killed all 7 witches and destroyed half the world; not the Witch of Envy persona. Still Envy is a big asshole, nobody likes that side of her and shes extremely yandere.
