At this point ? Nothing could ever not make the DR3 like the biggest disappointment since Mass effect 3, Highlander 2 and crystal pepsi.
I can appreciate the work being put trying to be an emotional rollercoaster, but tying despair and future with OC characters and forcing a twist to the story,despite usually being detrimental to it was a mistake. Despair is also terrible at explaining what did happen to make class 77 fall into despair.

The entire despair arc really was just a fan service. Like at this point it's really better for this arc to have never happened so people can imagine how interesting the reasons were behind all that shit.

Like my expectation was so high because in the game most cases had significant development and background explaining for people involved. So I really thought they would expand their backgrounds further for a whole damn 13 episodes series. In the end it's just rehashing shit and ruining characters besides maybe the imposer.

Erasing someone's memories, on the other hand, is simply that: Erasing the memories. That person is still in control of their actions and experiences from that point on. They aren't being manipulated by a trigger or being outright controlled.
