My personal favorite as far as openings go. It's kind of boring and plain, but once you finish and realize that Joe ends up dying, it can be viewed in a different light.
I always like to imagine that Joe fucking around the junkyard and just strolling around is him before he started boxing or met Danpei - he's really lonely but also somewhat carefree. All of that contrasts where the opening jumps into a TV still where he's in the middle of fighting Mendoza and literal minutes away from passing away. Then the final shot of him being happy, looking somewhere far away also turns into one that has a TV filter and reminds you it's just a show.
Probably digging way too deeply into it, but all of the above make this have a killer, heavy atmosphere. It's fucking great.
