JJBA is longer by far than a lot of those other series but David are keeping a brisk pace with the anime and not doing any filler besides an extra scene or two every few episodes for world and character building.

Pokemon's localized names are so entrenched in the public consciousness because they were part of a pop-culture phenomenon that occurred before the internet was widely used. Fuck off. Even if the people who get introduced to it this way don't enjoy it to your exact specifications, why does it matter? Honestly. Is your self-worth and identity THAT tied to enjoying an anime? Newer, less knowledgeable fans don't retroactively take away anything you've gotten out of the series in the past, and if it takes away from your enjoyment of it in the future you're a dumbass.

Also, and this is a stretch but worth mentioning nonetheless, JoJo doing well in the US makes it more likely that parts 7 and 8 will eventually be animated. From SBR on, the art gets a LOT more detailed and the story spreads out a bit. Not to mention horses running is expensive as all get out to animate. The more money the show brings in, the more viable a project like that may be. (assuming there's doubt right now about an SBR adaptation. i'm sure they're making part 5 right now and starting to think about 6)

That's true to an extent, but just like how western cartoons like Spongebob sound natural in English, most Japanese anime sounds a lot more natural in Japanese, probably because they were made specifically for that language and culture. If you take a look at some Japanese dubs of western shows you can clearly see that it sounds very unnatural and a lot worse than the original material.
So that's why I think it sounds a lot worse in English, not necessarily because of the cheesy dialog.

Yeah. I think there's a way to translate the hamminess without the awkwardness, though. You've just got to write the English script with that in mind, and get actors who can convey it well without sounding forced.
