I'm 3700 cards in core2k6k and it's getting painful. I used to be at 80% retention rate and there are days like today where it drops to 60% or so. I'm not here to complain or anything, I'll keep doing it until the end, I was just wondering if others also experienced something like that.

You're raising an interesting point as I feel like trying to hammer down something that doesn't want to get into your skull isn't as productive as actually letting it pass and getting back to it sometime later - if that makes sense.

I also feel like there's a time limit at how much reps one (or at least I, in this case) can take in one day. I feel very productive on anki the first 30min or so but past that point I'm starting to feel a bit restless and I don't feel as focused anymore. Of course breaks are important and I sometimes take them but I also feel like breaks are double-edged. If I let my reps languish for too long it'll just bother me during the day and kind of prevent me from being productive at other things.

Yeah. You should be using "good" and "again" as your primary buttons instead.

"Hard" is for things with multiple legitimate answers, and you had them all in your head, but couldn't figure out which ones were right. Like if you have two 本 cards, and one is "book", and the other is "reality", and you have both ideas in your head, but can't figure out whether one of them is a real idea or not, then flip it and realize that they're both real ideas. That's what hard is for.

"Easy" is for things that you literally already know.
