I'm beginning to think that the manufacturers specifically design and package figs in such a way that they are almost designed to break. Even peeling the tape off the arms and other pieces is a bit of a bravery test.

On a somewhat related note, I just got this Mikasa fig and it actually comes with instructions on how to remove the plastic packaging material- you have to literally remove her head... Jesus Christ how horrifying. Also, one of the sword handles still has some material in it from the mold or something preventing the blade from being inserted. I'm debating whether I should exchange it or just try to carve it out with something and just make it work.
