Are you ready to admit KlK was fun?
Please stop trying to use fun as a buzzword to justify why something was good. I enjoyed all of Imaishi's other projects but I wasn't very fond of KLK.
Please don't try to use "Hating fun" as some shit reason to attack people for genuinely not liking something in your soon to be shitty thread just because you can't fathom someone not liking something you like.
Yes I'm mad. Stop making these threads.
It was fun, but the more I reflect on it, the more I notice what Trigger did wrong.
Nothing can match that Thursday-hype though.
Why are people under the assumption that no one likes KLK any more because people don't talk about it?
>Shit ended like a year ago. Just let it go man.
We have Madoka threads daily, many threads daily, three years after release. We will never stop having Evangelion threads
I hope. /a/ doesn't just let shows go.
Sound's like what is happening.
Nui was the best thing about it...
Hahaha, you're that guy that was in every thread saying nobody would talk about it after it was over. And here you are. In a Kill la Kill thread. Still spouting the same shit. One year later.
I've never been unready
i really liked the first half and not so much the second half but the whole thing was fun. I really wanted them to stick with the school vs school thing and then go global in school takeover club battles and themed goku uniforms.
not until you admit it's edgy
Flawed but fun, tried some things differently (like strong women) but it had some real flaws.
7/10, no regrets watching it, especially with /a/. those were al lot of fucking threads.
>you have life fibers in your body
>WAAAAA I'M NOT EVEN HUMAN
>I'M SO TRIGGERED
>IT'S NOT LIKE I'M ACTUALLY JUST A HUMAN WITH LIFE FIBERS OR ANYTHING
>IT'S NOT LIKE THIS CONDITION GIVES ME SUPER STRENGTH AND NIGH IMMORALITY WITH LITERALLY NO DOWNSIDES
>CRAWWWWLING IN MY SKIIIIIIIN
I came here yesterday asking for advice about watching the dub or the original with subs, and I ended up watching with subs. Here I am now, about 24 hours later, and I'm now finished with the show.
It was fun. I haven't really watched much anime before, but it was really thorougly enjoyable. The whole concept and idea was so ridiculous, and it was amazing. Also, I don't know if this is normal for all anime, but this show was seriously "Plot Twist: The Animated Series". Seriously, the whole anime can be boiled down to one statement:
>Yes, that was my plan ALL ALONG!
Great show, glad I watched. Animation was mediocre, but it was still enjoyable. Over-the-top and ludicrously amusing. I actually laughed a fair amount of times at the different characters' antics. Especially Aikuro, I fucking loved how extreme all his monologues were with the slowly sliding clothes and glowing pink nipples. It was glorious.
There we go. Thanks /a/.
I have always said KlK is a fun show and I had more fun with it than TTGL largely due to the perfection that is Mako. Also I hate large portions of the second half of TTGL more than any arc in KlK.
>Nonon is best girl in the series
You sure have a strange way of spelling Mako anon
5. Mako's mom
6. Disco Milf
999999. SHADOW THE EDGE
99999999999999999999. harmless lesbian
I ended up watching with subs (good call I reckon), and I already finished it. See >>118835740 for thoughts. Overall: really liked it.
I'm considering watching that next, would I enjoy it if I enjoyed KLK and P&S? Is it in the same vein of over-the-top shenanigans?
My problem with KLK was the second half. It was a whole lot of nothing. It felt slow paced and didn't progress anywhere for several episodes.
The show was AOTS until Nui showed up. I loved the tournament arc. Had KLK been one cour, it would have been much better.
You all keep spelling Mako incorrectly
You put tennis bitch above round goddess? What is this shit taste? I demand a recount, I smell collusion in these rankings.
I'm okay with this. Still she's #1 for me.
>post yfw when Nuifags got BTFO
What an odd way of spelling Satsuki.
Also, I always wanted to ask this when the show was airing. Who /sp/ here?
No no no you are spelling it all wrong, come on spell it with me. M-A-K-O is best girl. Jeez who taught you guys to spell?
Nah, I'll post when I want to join in discussion. The whole "lurk more" mentality is correct for people who's been on 4chan for like a year, but otherwise it's just buzzwords now.
The filter is right that way anons.
I thought Nui was pretty annoying. She was only interesting the last few episodes.
Nonon is five letters, not four anon.
The whole Nui/REVOCs thing had a lot of potential to be interesting, it's just that Trigger totally shat the bed with the actual execution of it.
>Nudist Beach being a big joke in the end
>Satsuki being useless
>everyone who wasn't Ryuko barely mattering in the end
Honestly Ryuuko is one of the most attractive girls that I ever seen. I'll give you that.
But her personality is too edgy for my tastes
oh, I should add a few more things to this
>Dr. Matoi and Satsuki's dad being the same person
>the absurdly predictable and boring 'they were sisters all along!' twist
>TWO virtually identical 'crisis of self' mini-arcs for Ryuko where she contradicts her own supposed character development
i really dont get whats great about it!
the first time i watched it i gave up after episode two since it was boring...
tried watching second time got to episode 11 yet its still boring...
No. It should have been maybe 15 episodes, definitely not two cours. Everything in the middle was awful and dragged. It would have left me great impact if it was shorter.
And I didn't watch it while it was airing, I marathoned it recently. While I liked the start and finale I think it should have skipped the whole Nui arc etc.
people keep saying she's edgy
she really isn't so
>Nonon is five letters, not four anon
Great now you guys can't even count to 4 correctly? I don't think there is any hope for you guys, we are going to need a true miracle from the goddess of round to educate you.
>The biggest failing of KlK is everything involving Ryuko
Tell me something I don't know
>yfw one of the Animator Expo projects is a short-film for Ragyou's backstory, Lord Genome-style.
Yeah, before you used to be able to argue about waifus but then everyone realized nui is best
just kidding, coldfibers is best
>kill la kill was aired one year ago
I found the ride fun and enjoyable. Saved anime for me personally
>pic related best girl btw
I was so ready for mind-stitched Elite Four. Oh well.
Oh no how threatening...
Fun as fuck OP, did it had issues and was it edgy at times, yes, still, the bad stuff didn't keep me from comming back every week.
Anime of the year at least for me.
also it was /u/ as fuck
on a side note, I haven't been here in a while, what are /a/'s candidates for anime of the year anyways?
>edgy at times
>my anime of the year
>it was /u/ as fuck
>what's /a/'s anime of the year?
I seriously can't handle this outrageous degree of cancer. It's Christmas can't you just go back to Tumblr for today?
are you saying that Mako is best girl?
cause you're right if you are
keep in mind, I'm using the term "/u/" to imply that the show had a shit ton of lesbian shit, not to refer to /u/ the board. I don't know jack shit about /u/ the board.
also, that whole last credits scene was gay as fuck, with mako and Ryuuko on a date and shit.
really disappointed she didn't show up some more later near the end.
also, Mako's mom a slut
I know you are, I wouldn't expect any less
My brothers! Always good to see fellow followers of the church of round.
Hanging out as friends, with Satsuki, whilst the devas planned to ask Mako out, and Ryuuko fantasized about her not so dead husbando
Seriously it's been 8 months, get a clue always or
Fun fact: dato is also what girls refer to as outings with their friends.
Fun fact: all of Mako's hallelujah moments are filled with puns and nothing she says or does in them should be taken literally
Fun fact: /u/ is a cancer and if you believe that was canon gay ending you're delusional
Mako only cares about Ryuko through platonic sisterly love
/u/ can go to hell.
Its not canon but it sure is cute and I approve of any cute art involving mai waifu
Nothing happened of confirmation, I like the ship but I won't be delusional claiming its canon. Its cute but the only canon proof we have is its pretty obvious Gama has a one sided crush, shes a rather simple girl so she likely has no idea about it.
related to that, you guys think we'll ever see him again?
Or just more KlK in general in the future?
Nothing wrong with a headcanon if you are prepared to be called a faggot here. In my book its fine as long as you don't think that makes it for real canon.
Yes it was good, this board then to go 'from is the best anime ever' to 'is just shit', not middle ground.
KlK was good, not AOTY, but certainly is worth watching. /a/ just hates anything popular as usual.
Also, what can you say about a board that likes garbage like Cross Ange?
Does anybody have that chart that shows /a/'s opinion of an anime vs. time, I think it uses bebop as an example
glad to see some resistance against all the nuifags.
There are some souls still saved by the Goddess of Round anon
>still no webm of this transformation
WTF BLUNDER OF THE FUCKING CENTURY
Nakashima disagrees. Gamako or any other pairing is not canon. And that flower scene ended up being interpretated in more than one way, crack or not.
But there's nothing wrong for shipping them.
>Nakashima disagrees. Gamako or any other pairing is not canon.
Wow, so even TsumuguxGamagoori can be possible? I can feel at ease fapping to them knowing that it's not complete delusion.
He went out of his way to say that there's no romance in KLK, and that fans can just ship whatever they want. Hetero, Yaoi or Yuri.
He even trolled one fan in one of the panels of the ep.25 screening that Gama's flowers were "his lunch" to which Uzu's seiyuu added Gama "became a vegetarian".
But in serious terms, he never wrote any romantic sub-plots. Gamagori and Mako's relationship was of rivalry and respect.
Sushio and Imaishi never contradict him either. Those teases were obviously animators doing, whether for baiting people to buy the merch/BD's or them pleasing their own shipping agenda, certainly is something that usually happens in plenty of other series.
So fans can Doujin whatever they want.
outside the animation of the Mako ending all the OP and ED are incredibly mediocre, especially the music
He said best, not the absolute worst
I think the music stunk, the animation were mostly pretty good though particularly the last OP and Mako ED
I don't know anon.
The first ED, not only was an homage to Sukeban Deka, but the music had this intentional 80's vibe going on.
All that old-school art direction was one of the few reasons I ever liked KLK and the main reason I gave the show a chance in the first place.
Kinda of like the ending to LoK. All that implication, yet the creators left it opened on purpose. Only team Bryke sold out to the tumblr crowd leaving an already tainted smudge on the franchise they created.
>Only team Bryke sold out to the tumblr crowd leaving an already tainted smudge on the franchise they created.
I dropped the show somewhere at season 2. What the hell happened? The Fire Faggot became an actual homosexual faggot or what? Or did Asumi became a dyke?.
On KLK though, Nakashima never intented to write any romance sub-plot of element since the beginning. So, in a way, I'm glad he never succumbed to fan favorites or shippingfaggotry, and stood on his ground firm over and over again with the whole "No Romance" stuff, despite Imaishi and executives shitting on his script.
>rivalry and respect
It may not be romantic, but a significantly notable platonic relationship emerged between the two. Some of Ira's and Mako's earliest interactions hint at Ira being pretty impressed by her selective hearing and apparent bravery.
And then you have scenes blurring the line (and can't exactly explain away as "the animators sneaking it in") like Nonon telling Gamagoori to stop flirting with the slacker and his protests. Which, yeah, can be taken at face value, but how can you blame people for seeing that as a flag?
>It may not be romantic, but a significantly notable platonic relationship emerged between the two.
I hate to point out something like this, but the same thing can be applied to Ryuko and Mako or with Ryuko and Senketsu or with Satsuki and Gamagori or any of the other Devas, (well, maybe exceptng Inu, but that's due to their inhability to use him as more as the exposition boy).
Gama x Mako and any other "pairing" in this show are just a classic "bait and switch" in the romantic department.
All those teases were obvious pandering, and even though I enjoyed them, I'm aware of what they are and I'm not claiming "canon" like some idiotic shipperfaggot when in reality never amounts to anything.
Now think about it, Gamagori as a character, was an ok character, but he could have ever acheived a more than a decent level of popularity outside fujos and femdomfags if he wasn't attached to Mako's hip.
Mako, on the other hand, as a character would be the same with or without Gamagori.
Unfortunately, Gamagori is popular for shipping reasons, be with Mako, Satsuki or anyone else, despite having legit reasons for being one of the best boys in this show.
Are you ready to admit that Satsuki x Ryuuko is OTP?
thats the only pairing I even care about
I respect your tastes, even though I don't share them. But Satsugoori still has a good place in my heart.
> this show has bad writing
> I won't give you any examples or reasons but take my word for it
I don't give a shit about a second season, but I want a Kill la Kill Parallel Works.
>western Kill la Kill
>fantasy Kill la Kill
>samurai Kill la Kill
>the adventures of Senketsu and Junketsu gag short
>pop idol Ryuuko music video
>Ragyou backstory short
the only time that i like this bitch
The pun was that she used dato which is what japanese girls call going out with other female friends but play on words since its considered platonic between friends but romantic between a girl and a boy. Thats why they showed Ryuko as a boy also, the hallelujahs are nothing but strings of puns but its lost on the translation to English.
People who think that was /u/ ending are really stupid. Not a single thing in the hallelujahs had been taken seriously yet and yet they think this is word of god?
I that was what the OVA was...them going on a date
Thats not what the OVA was. Also who goes on a romantic date with their sister? How does anyone believe /u/ is canon?
You got me there
Not the OVA, the credits in the final episode. They went shopping and ate ice cream, like Mako talked about in her last Hallelujah speech.
meant to say "I wished that's what it was"
Me too, the OVA was okay but mainly just for how great the Mako parts were and making it official that you can beat Mako with cheese no matter what.
Hey drawfag from /co/ and I made this for my brothers who both enjoy this show a lot, I thought you guys would like it too, happy holidays
I thought it was a really fun show and liked the characters for the first part. Boobs always flopping everywhere was a big plus. The villain Ragyo was interesting and pretty sexy, Satsuke was sexier and Ryouka was sexiest. The fighting was fun and nice to look at it. Although, when comparing this to anime that I love it doesn't quite get there. I probably won't fully watch it again. 7.8/10 I still liked it
>implying your taste isn't absolute shit
Definitely fun, though Ryuuko really dragged shit down when she lost her way multiple times
Ep 4 still the best episode
> implying satsuki could have ever beaten nui by herself
>Still no KLK video game announcement
Sadly, all Trigger's said about a game is "mite b cool."
It should be a fighting game though
KLK already has its own Scorpion/Ryu and Sub-Zero/Ken, it could totally work as a fightan
Imaishi once again ruins a perfectly good script, except this time he didn't have Gainax uppers telling him to back the fuck off
He is an incredibly good action director and character designer but he is like deviantart tier when it comes to writing a coherent script.
As long as I get to play 2 star Mako I will be satiated
>Also who goes on a romantic date with their sister?
it has almost identical structure to TTGL from having main plot/plot twist start in the middle of the series down to having a rock/rap song in english that plays on every action segment.
It was mediocre but enjoyable. Gurren Lagann is better from a more serious perspective.
Lady Satsuki is muh waifu.
We get people who watched the show on their own time and enjoyed it all the time. They seem to like it more than people who watched it with /a/ and built up high expectations for how the show was "supposed" to go.
For how simple the premise was, the execution was pretty damn good. I mean, think of all the series that start out with far more and still find a way to fail due to writing, directing, and piss poor execution.
The characters were decent as well.
KLK just overall has its own style that sets it apart from most series.
I mean, what other anime let their main female characters get their shit pushed in, and by male characters no less? The only ones I can think of bold enough to go there are Tokyo ESP and Black God (even though its adaptation was terrible).
Just watched it. Great show.
Ryuuko is like = Saki Matsukawa + Stadtfeld, Kallen
Ryuuko is luf.
>The characters were decent as well.
This is pretty much the only thing I agree with you. Well, that and how they let main female characters get their shit pushed in.
The thing with KLK is that they indeed had a simple premise, but they still managed to fail in writing, directing (though some individual episodes were actually good in that department) and it actually had a piss poor excecution. I find that just mindboggling.
You know what actually sets KLK apart from other series? The art direction, OST (though they fucked up by replaying certain tracks, over and over again until it becomes old), the voice acting and the characters.
KLK's "style" is actually the same kind of style you can find in 70's, 80's and 90's anime, of course it would look different to what it was normally shown nowadays, because it's something studios rarely do anymore.
In fact, according to Nakashima, the female characters in this story are supposed to take roles that were common to male characters in anime/manga from the 70's/80's. Minus of course all that fanservice bullshit that was obviously Imaishi's own adding.
So yeah, KLK is style, but style and that's it. And to answer OP, it was fun.
Why didn't this happen.
Why did my shitty pairing not happen.
Because Nui is terrible and doesn't deserve anything
Come on now, Nui deserves at least something.
And Monkey is "at least something".
Is Dog and Sukuyo stupid enough for ya?
It's just one picture. It's not a thing the way, say, Monkey/Junketsu is a thing.
Oh god, I loved that shit. Can't remember the Pixiv artists' name though.
>KLK's "style" is actually the same kind of style you can find in 70's, 80's and 90's anime, of course it would look different to what it was normally shown nowadays, because it's something studios rarely do anymore.
It's kinda like all that vaporwave crap IMO, it uses old tropes and feels nostalgic, but does have its own atmosphere that's actually more modern.
If you watched it in the 80s it probably still stand out.
I'm surprised we didn't get any doujin ones yet
People really wanted some weird ships
I'd still watch those two play video games though
>People really wanted some weird ships
Looks like she went and organized an anthology doujinshi, bless her.
Don't know what's going on in this thread but you may be interested in a sizable KLK image pack I just put up. I also finally made a torrent of it since people bitch about that literally every release.
At first I saw Sanageyama getting ready to shove a breadstick up Gamagoori's ass.
>I skipped the only fun character in the show that saves the terrible abortion of an arc known as the school trip
So you hate fun? Or are you one of those faggots who hates comic relief in your "oh so serious" show?
Just started marathoning this and- wow. Really?
His eyes were too beautiful to permanently destroy.
>It was fun watching it with /a/
Shut your fucking teeth.
You weren't watching it with /a/, you were watching it with the ' ' le /IRC/ ' '.
The only reason I ever went into a KLK thread was to confirm that the threads were still pure cancer as is was the case since the threads made even before it had started airing.
Different strokes, I guess. Though I did kind of miss the ninja turtle mask.
At any rate, gouging out his eyes would have been a waste. He did get Shingantsu out of it, but he'd be permanently hobbling himself, denying a possible advantage down the line. Now he has his super senses, and he can see.
I can't look at seifuku the same way anymore.
