Napoleonic Wars is pretty fun. I saw only two populated servers: minisiege and roleplaying. Played some time on both and liked crazy sieges and artillery bullshit. I suck at bayonet combat though.

Why can't both things be true? There were a ton of reasons why he bothered taking Jerusalem (which was a crappy husk of a town with barely any inhabitants, even before the crusaders arrived). The recapture of Jerusalem also threw the Crusaders into disarray because there was a faction within the Kingdom of Jerusalem (poliens) who thought Jerusalem was meaningless and that the kingdom should expand into Egypt.
While Jerusalem was held the poliens had no reason to argue, but once Jerusalem was gone a bunch of newcomers in the kingdom who knew nothing about the politics and economy of the region thought the best way to keep the kingdom together was to attack jerusalem head on with a massive army and get loads of people killed. The arguments shattered the cohesion of the kingdom of Jerusalem and as a result it never expanded again.

I don't buy this. Richerd the Lionheart was a massive pain in the arse for Saladin and his very presence in the Levant threatened the cohesion of the entire Ayyubid Empire, because he arrived right as Saladin's army was ready to disperse, and was charismatic enough to launch campaign after campaign, which Saladin wasn't prepared for. The only way he could win was by slowing Richard down and hoping the crusading army got frustrated, which it did. Saladin really didn't want Richard alive if he could help it.

On the other hand, Saladin put a lot of effort into having good PR, so much so that he was the figure of chivalry even in western Europe. He had several dedicated propagandists who paint him as the coolest dude ever, a guy who tells dark jokes, a guy who walks around the palace in his underwear, a guy who gives castles to little girls and so on. Sending his medic to Richard was probably a show of power as much as it was a genuine chivalrous act.

Not exactly, more like they gave a couple of despots a justification for annexing all the independent states left behind by the seljuks. But by the time the Mamluks had finally united Syria and Egypt (the main power bases of Sunni Islam in the 1200s), the Mongols arrived and suddenly the mamluks and crusaders were making secret pacts to betray the mongols. It was all realpolitik.

Funnily enough the crusaders created a period of relative peace in the middle east because the constant wars between egypt and syria finally stopped. Nobody wanted to send armies through the castle-infested, extremely well defended, dirt poor wasteland of the holy land anymore, so war stopped being as attractive to whoever ruled Egypt or Syria during that period.

Ok, this is strange as fuck. In my game they haven't shot a single crossbow/arrow from the very beginning. I did saw like a few of them take aim though, but they never shoot.
I also noticed they switch to whatever other weapon they have, like rocks and put their bows away.

Is it possible that some "Hold fire/use melee weapons only" script turns on a few seconds in? I am not an scripting expert but is it possible to put on some automated script that forces the "Fire at will" command every few seconds or something like that?

Ahh Jesus, found the problem. It's random what bandit troop you get and there's this bit of code that can get called as part of that:

(store_add, ":bandit_troop", "trp_looter", ":random_no"),

Problem is, I insert the custom troops before the bandits_begin variable, which for some reason the Turks decided should be trp_bandit, one entry AFTER trp_looter, as if looters don't count as bandits. I'm blaming them on this one.

Yeah it's random, 40% chance basically with 20% chance of custom recruit and 20% chance of tier 1 troop. Even if you start your kingdom and give them equipment, it'll only apply to them if you choose the Male 1 Branch with 7 Tiers option, otherwise they'll still be naked.

On Vanilla? Keep your party mounted for speed. Probably start in Tulga and utilize the quick upgrade of peasents to mounted units, then add other mounted units as you go (horse archers suck shit against any kind of armor that has range support). Buy ale in Paven, pottery in Hamar, Spice and Salt in Tulga. There are probably other places worth stopping in, but you can make good profit by just making that run: Tulga-Hamar-Paven with stops along the way to max your sell price. Set up Silk and Dye shops in Paven, Tulga, and other places that don't get taken over routinely. Attacking Caravans/farmers and raiding villages adds an extra boost but the relations cost isn't a great trade off when your trying to be a trader. You can hybrid: be a trader and merc, so that way you can do those merc things when your faction is at war with other people and that way you don't constantly get chased around for being an asshole.

In the bad timeline, Bannerlord gets delayed until it's released 2 years from now. After losing following with such a delayed release date, the game doesn't sell too well, and it is easily piratable. Taleworlds stops developing new M&B games and makes a fantasy RPG.

In the worse timeline, Bannerlord is delayed repeatedly until Taleworlds goes bankrupt and the entire project is scrapped, never to be picked up by anyone again. Bannerlord will always be a "what could have been".

In the worst timeline, Bannerlord will be released within this year. It will be so buggy, and missing several promised features, including ones we expected to follow from Warband. With horrible mod support comparable to what we have now, the game can't even be saved from disappointment by modders, who will most likely not even try in the first place with such a shit game.
