RXTools won't inject FBI, it says "wrong TMD version", but I triple checked and I'm using the correct version (Usa, 2051). Any Ideas? I followed the retard guide, but I didn't knew that FBI didn't work so right now I have sysnand and emunand unlinked and emunand is on the latest version.

Some anon recommended me trying different versions, but it didn't work. Help.

Playing a .cia of Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam from Europe on my Japanese 3DS that's been region patched.

When I try to boot it, after the Nintendo 3DS splash screen, I get the generic "An error has occurred with the Nintendo 3DS. Please power it off" or whatever message.

If I boot the game through HANS, however, then it functions just fine until this point in the game I'm at where I've saved all these Paper Toads, and now they're going to do something to help me fight a big papercraft Goomba. Basically, the Goomba comes out, the Paper Toads run to the left side of the screen, but before they can do whatever, the game crashes back to that error.

I'm running 10.3 emuNAND on Cakes, so I really don't know what's going on here. Any ideas?

I've literally never owned a console, only ever had a PC, upgrade annually, parents didn't let me buy consoles as a kid because concerned over my eyesight and they do "nothing but play bideo games", over 20 years old, considering my first handheld.

Questions:

1) Instead of a handheld, why not just buy a phone? For the $200-$300 for a DS or PSP, why not put that towards a top of the line flagship smartphone or tablet?

2) Instead of a console, why not just buy a PC or laptop, or a better GPU or CPU for your currently existing one?

3) Do people here have more fun hacking and screwing around or actually playing pirated games?

4) What makes the money and effort worth it? Free games? Just a hobby? Technical epeen? Are there exclusives that can only be played on handheld/console that convinced you to buy specific hardware? What were those games?

Not even trolling, those are honest questions from someone on the fence about dropping a couple hundred bucks for a 3DS or PSP (speaking of, which one should I get). Personally I want a handheld because I felt like I missed out massively during my childhood (everyone had a gameboy + pokemon) and because I like taking walks around my city at night and climbing stuff, would be nice to climb a roof with a couple of beers in my bag and play gameboy for hours while looking out over the skyline of my city.

I have an old 3DS XL with sysNAND 4.2 and emuNAND 10.3. I used it with a Gateway card, but I no longer need the console and want to sell it (bought a N3DS instead). I want to keep the Gateway, though.

What are the steps I need to perform so that the O3DS will be able to run games without a Gateway, as to increase its resell value? I have never installed CFW on a console - I've only dabbled in Gateway and Homebrew (the latter on my N3DS only).

3000 has the brighest screen, but some scanline and ghosting issues that you will never notice with the naked human eye.

The 2000's screen is slightly darker, has no scanline and ghosting issues that are not noticeable with the naked human eye (I cannot stress this enough), but if you get a 2000 with an early motherboard revision, you can never ever brick your PSP because you can beat out the IPL by using a Pandora's Battery.

This is a moot point in 2016 because if you manage to brick your PSP, you deserve it. Just get the 3000. Or 1000 if you really, really need an IR port.

you should use fbi only to install bigbluemenu.cia or devmenu.cia, and install games from them. FBI sucks for installing games.

Currently have an N3DS (9.5 emunand). I was using menuhax in conjunction with rxTools and the bootctrlmanager thing, but now use OOT hax as my primary entrypoint because menuhax was giving me issues.

Now that I've removed menuhax, will OOT hax remain a solid entrypoint for eventually updating my emuNAND, switching CFW's in the future, etc.?

even though it's supposed to be working in your picture, if the file's too large FBI will be stuck in 0% until the file has actually been installed completely. You can't tell how much time left to install games, etc.

I ran into a bunch of FBI problems just like yours, turned out I had lost my emunand because I changed my SD card. You can check if your emunand is up and running by holding L when running rxtools, going to the first option to boot it and choosing "run from emunand". If it gives ou and error, you're actually running sysnand.

Also I saw some people saying it's best to update your emunand to 10.3 (after unlinking the nands) so FBI would work properly but I'm not sure about it. If I were you I'd just install bigbluemenu.cia and try to install games from it.

Phones don't have many good games on them and even if they did it's inconvenient to lug around my Shield Controller/DS3.

Hacking consoles is very fun. I started with the PSP and it got me into programming and hardware hacking. The original xbox got me into Linux (running a NAS for xbmc). Mobile phones have a bad design, in my opinion. Most of the games are dumb, and the ones that aren't get ruined by the control scheme. It's a market I'd like not to support. You'd end up with an emulator machine, you'd be better off getting a PSP (or hoping PSV homebrew gets better) for that.

It feels good to have your old stuff back, especially if you paid for them. I'm going to sell all shit I bought physically though, but I did buy one game digitally and Tr4sh DLCs (and have a bunch of stolen Club Nintendo ones plus the Plat reward) and it felt nice having them back instead of grabbing a pirate CIA and letting the ones I paid for gathering digital dust. I've even bought two themes before kickass arrived and am using one of them right now instead of a custom one.

I had to format sysnand to downgrade anyway so getting my shit back was literally just relinking the NNID. But I honestly would do the other trick if it was necessary.
