Breaking the 3DS edition
>Monster Hunter X
Browser/Menu/Ironhax are working again with 10.3. Anyone interested in playing Cross should get them NOW.
***Testing of a new kernel exploit is underway. You should absolutely wait and see who bricks what. Caution and patience is advised.
memchunkhax2, which will enable downgrading any 3DS's firmware to 9.2, has entered its earliest 0.0.1 alpha.
A guide covering the downgrade procedure and installing MHX will follow when development finishes on a stable release.

>finally hit g-crown
>been grinding like mad to get scrolls

>need yet another scroll
i dont like this, im going back to replaying caravan missions for
i just dont like that the pre g missions and pre caravan 9 dont give you any symbols, and only online missions do
I dont want to have to rely on 3 other players, and i dont want to hunt a single mission 30-40 minutes at a time
i wish i was playing from the beginning again where i didnt know anything, that was fun
this is too much grind
Sure, if the raw is high enough, bonus element is a nice addition, sure. But most of the time elemental weapons lose too much raw for a questionable boost in element. Also, that anon is asking for a good weapon to have during progression. And maintaining an upgrade path for every element is costly.
>i just dont like that the pre g missions and pre caravan 9 dont give you any symbols, and only online missions do
That's wrong, every quest can give you symbols, as long as there's boss monsters.
If I recall correctly, low rank non drome boss monsters give 1 symbol per kill, low rank dragons give 2, high rank dromes and other boss monsters give 1, high rank elder dragons give 3, g-rank boss monsters give 2 and g-rank elder dragons give 5.
You can get 5 symbols by doing a hunt-a-thon quest and killing 5 monsters before handing over the paw pass ticket, for example, but that lasts a bit too long for my liking. If I wanted to grind for symbols specifically, I just did any g-rank caravan dragon.
The symbol gain might be a bit off from what I just put there, though. High rank non dromes may be giving 1.5 symbols per kill (rounded down) instead, and low rank boss monsters might only give 0.5. There's also the possibility that monster difficulty in the monster list plays a part in deciding how many symbols you get.
All in all, just hunt things and you'll be fine.
Re: firmware downgrades
People are hitting a few road bumps, like the standard browser method for launching Gateway isn't working for some reason (browser issue?) and Homebrew can require reinstalling.
Ironically good examples of both why to wait and to do this soon as it's actually ready, if it keeps depending on Browserhax. Hopefully that silly fact changes. A workaround should pop up.
Sit tight for now, be careful messing with anything.

Its just honey+bitterbugs/seeds. You can farm like 100 potions in a half dozen quests.
I mostly use them for gunner though so its more important for me I guess than a Blademaster
Help please guys T_T
I'm brand new to 3ds hacking and imported a jap 3ds to play this game
It's running ver 10.3.28J, I bought MHX via eShop. I'm playing it but am desperate to read it in english.
I heard that you can hack 10.3 versions of 3DS's now, so i've been wondering how exactly I can patch my MHX?
Is it possible to run the patched rom using a hacked 10.3? Or am i fucked?
I know im asking to be spoonfed, but many internets to the kind anon who helps me here.
This is such a pretty game. I don't know if it controls the same as originals though. Can I do things such as using steps to dodge through AOE?
Anyone got a good GS bias guild quest for getting maximum beshackled weapon drops? Ideally double Apex Deviljho or something.
if by downgrader you mean the hack that would downgrade me to 9.2, then alright. I'll wait till it get's to a non-bricky version. Please be a few daysss. Pleaseeeee. I will reward anyone with 99 honey + 99 well done + 99 raw meat if they find a good step by step guide online that gets this all to work for me
JUST TELL ME
WHERE CAN I FIND THE JHO
Re: Re: firmware downgrades
Yeah, just wait for people to figure out why shit is acting up. Don't be like /hbg/ and install a 0day alpha release.
Well, to be fair, the difference between Banhabras and Vespoids was pretty slim.
Though I will always miss the day when a friend over VOIP said to the party "There's a banana on the floor if you want to mine it" and we all understood what he meant.
What does it mean if dark purple/black sparks (for lack of a better word) sometimes appear along with the blood when I hit a monster?
I'm using the Rajang DBs, which have -15% affinity, am I un-criting?
>tfw you do G-rank expeditions and Garuga appears every fucking time
Look at it this way. Every time you do a quest with randoms, there's an 80% chance of you failing it due to a triple cart from them. Every time this happens, you have wasted all the time that went into the quest. So you can either gamble and spend a full hour on a single quest, or you can just get good and do it solo in 20 minutes.
Which one will it be?
can somone tell me how to get might seeds in this game?
I need them for armor
Also how do i get the fucing farm to work? I've send 2 cats to do honey(10 rounds?), but after doing a pawpass, i got no honey
lel, you can't go and do a gathering quest, and drop of the ticket right away, you have to either do a hunt of some kind or a delivery quest for them to make anything on the farm.
>Zinogre will NEVER EVER have the same amount of variants as Rathalos
Good thing because each variant finds a way to make their supercharged forms worse than ever to fight against.
I decided to go try gypceros solo and he went down almost as fast as the village one. Did they change the scaling? The ratio was like 2:1 in terms of time taken for 4U as I recall.
For its true form's armor
Composed charges your hunt arts faster and stacks with Striker Style and Rare-X weapons.
Chance enhances your hunt arts when the monster is immobilized by any other means, such as tripping, mounting, stunning, paralyzing, etc.
136+ Teostra GS bias is currently on the menu.
The people who really care about MH are all in Frontier anyway.
Oh hey, its Yuri "Teegrayxe" Araujo
>Queue up for the trial mode in MHO
>No idea what I'm doing
>Constantly getting disconnected from the server during the rewards section or something
>First time people ever used the party chat and I don't know if they're being mad at me
I'm so sorry Chinamen.
I don't know man, I had those issues and I just went off to do something else while trying it every now and then until it worked. I think someone once mentioned something about registering through some phone app being easier, but I didn't really look into that because it was brought up after I had my account.
>Devs admitted that Najarala is truly a shit monster
The server in the OP is where I rolled, and a couple of other /mhg/ players. Some others rolled elsewhere according to this thread. Not sure where the majority of English players settled on (I assume they'd have just followed Steparu or Reddit)
Any link to some starting english guide to get the ball rolling?
Feel like thats the hardest part is the start and shit, but after that its probably all just the same "go here to do these things" and etc...
Also Aslind Samure on Facebook.
You'll probably want to use the google translate phone app every now and then, just to get used to certain side quest objectives since neither 2p or Aslind really mention specific quests (though that page I linked does help for board quest objectives)
Well it's 50% off on eshop so I bought and didn't check filesize. Now I'm worrying if it'll fit on the stock 4GB SD.
Cheap though. If anyone is wanting to buy now is your chance.
its probably the only game you can fit on it and nothing else.
Buy a better SD, since 3DS can use like any you can get 16gb for like $12 vs sonys proptiery vita shit being 16gb for $100
So, since the general is slowly but surely dying out, I've been forced to play with randoms today.
And I must say randoms are better than at the game than /mhg/. At least the ones that do GQs. Frenchies who want to get carried through G key quests are trash. But there are quite a few nolife autists online too, who grind 140s every day.
>get my shit kicked in by the Tetsucabra

Then it's just a matter of practice
Keep trying, Anon!
If CB was in MHO, they'll use the MH4 version which is worse than Guild CB.
For the guys who were with me when I lost con: Tried to finish him off solo, but it was 100x harder without anybody keeping him off my ass for a bit.
Hope the rest of you fared a bit better.
People have claimed that “left-hand monster determines model, right-hand monster determines quality, dual quests are best.” This is very misleading, so please do yourself a favor and put that out of your mind entirely.
In a single monster quest, that monster is the one used to determine models. In a two monster quest, it uses the monster on the left (when the quest is posted), or the monster listed on top (in the quest description). This is not the same as the monster listed in the guild quest when it’s in your pool. Rajang, etc. does not mean Rajang is first/left!”
Started out pretty bad, then got buffed to overpoweredness(attribute to one such programmer in the main series team who happens to be good in action games according to the video interview.) and then its grim reaper came and rebalanced it.
No, it means the weapon's appearance is based on Ruby Basarios.
As for the weapons, you get one row of rewards for each monster. The first row will be Ruby Basarios tier rewards, and the second will be Jho. Having two Jhos or Rajangs is the most optimal combination.
I had like 700+ uses of LS in MH4u and about 20 in TOTAL altogether for ig and gs, that was it
desu I found ls to be my main during tri, so i had no problem forgoing other weapons
So how much does the framerate differ in MHX comparing a 3DS XL and N3DS XL?
From the view graphical comparisons I saw it seems like they upped the texture resolution but downgraded the anisotropic filtering drastically.
I love my CPP XL, it's still supported, right?
exactly, the AA (if any) makes it look like im playing at a lower resolution
That said, the textures are better and the game does *look* nicer overall. More brushes and stuff on the maps and the monsters just look better, so im honestly ok with this and find it a material improvement
I've seen some weapons, mostly GSes, have a neon glow around them.
What's all that about?
One of those is in 3U. Everything else is in there in 4U, or there's something even worse.
>Evasion for free
>Cuhrayzee Monster Designs
Everything you listed is very tame compared to Frontier, not even sure why you showed Plesioth.
Where? If you're going to say IG's X+A then don't even bother replying
Furious rajang problem here. I ve been farming this fagot for few hours, no Lucky with gold gorer, half the time someone carts 2/3 Times, is this fagot for real? 80% CHANCE! hes furious? I cant even... I start to question myself if its supouse to show in quest rewards, or shiny after Horn break. I farmer zin for skymerald around 50 Times for two, but this shit is starting to take a toll on me.
Oh no a literally giant volcano monster the main series is dead god save the queen
It's funny because all of those things are basically strictly inferior to just playing the exact same way you always did
All of the things you listed (except the monster designs) are just noob traps, so why are you complaining?
Because dealing with a monster you didn't intend to hunt in the first place is bothersome. At least they have decency to invade only AFTER you've killed the main target.
It really only works on low levels when a monster of the next rank invades, to get early access to, say, deviljho materials.
I'm still confused. What?
>Everything you listed is very tame compared to Frontier,
>giant dinosaur hammer tail with glowing dildo gloves and dildo horn that explodes into giant AoEs and had a status exclusive to it and made overpowered weapons when it was introduced
>plus a variant that explodes its own body
>Tigrex but red and it explodes and comboes moves because why not
>giant tornado that remains over time instead of disappearing and hits people and monster uses to catapult itself, same monster has another move where it launches two mini tornadoes that remain for an exaggerated amount of time and roam the field
>monsters that combine or use tag-team moves
>monsters that literally take Frontier moves
>"elder dragon that can use many elements because top kek" with all-area-involved moves and AoE fireballs
>monster with fireballs that crash into an enormous explosion, fired multiple even
>overpowered, "edgy" variants before MHX variants were even a thing
>very tame compared to Frontier
And this is just something, not all.
You really should've just did that from the start. Rajang's horns make up for like 70% of his total health. If you're hunting in a group and they don't go for the horns break, the monster will most likely be dead before they're broken.
You didn't have to kill the invader, you could abandon immediately and get the rewards for the original quest as usual
I could have sworn invaders had better rates on rare materials too, so it was worth the effort if something good dropped in
Brachydios is the only monster that you can claim is frontier, but even still is much more tame than any frontier monster.
M.Tirex does nothing different than regular tigrex except give off gas. Compare him with Diorex and then tell me M.Tigrex is frontier.
Yeah because one tiny tornado is the same as entire area aoe that will kill you if you don't roll/block like in frontier right?
It is tame to frontier, I'm not a shill and will buy anything with the name Monster Hunter in it.
X doesn't appeal to me, sorry that upsets you.You can't sway my opinion, and trying to lie to me doesn't help either.
Still waiting an answer on that Plesioth questions, same with the free evasion+3 and aerial style.
>you could abandon immediately
That's what I was saying would happen in the endgame. Nobody would bother with the invader. Maybe if you hunt with three friends it would be fun.
The mainline was rather subdued when it comes to over-the-top stuff. The Gunlance was the first weapon with a move that came closest to resembling a super move; in this case, its the Wyvernfire.
It escalated to Switch Axe and its Phial Discharge and reached its logical conclusion with CB and its screenshaking Ultra Discharge.
Aerial Style has no i-frames on the forward roll and the forward roll eats up more stamina than the regular roll.
Its Lavasioth and he was a key quest in FU, which understandably pissed off many purist shitters such as you.
>You can't sway my opinion, and trying to lie to me doesn't help either.
But you're the one lying to yourself. I mean you call a mammoth and electric Seregios "over the top design" while defending Gore Magala With Oil, a fucking mecha bug, Brachydios and other shit.
The "free evasion+3" also forces you into a shitty dash that leaves you completely open. Aerial style doesn't give you i-frames on a certain roll and falling down leaves you open like a sack of potatoes, also forcing you to use only a single move.
There's no fucking Plesioth in the picture.
When did this general become pro-frontier?
I went on vacation for a month or two and hating on frontier was "in the now"
Now it's the opposite?
I don't care for this debate, this is just an observation.
It takes little time to charge Absolute Evade and the only issue might be positioning but that can be rectified by getting good instead.
Oh, and it can be used to cancel the recovery animation of certain attacks such as CB's axe twirl.
I have no idea how to use Normal 3. I figured you're supposed to fire it in the crook of things, like shooting at Shagaru's wing armpit to make it bounce around between the torso and the wing, but I just get one hit. Meanwhile, I shoot Jho in the broad side of its back and I get like 3 hits. What gives?
>hunt 140 rajang
>have best chance of getting relic GS
>hunt 140 brachydios or teo
>have a smaller chance of getting a better looking GS
how bad is status crit actually, because my friend is being a big ol fuck boy about it. I got a para LS that's pretty good, already has affinity, and I could get the set
Status Atk +2
Critical eye +3
28-2824-9121-2257 - MH4U
Anything, or high level guild quests if nobody really wants to get something specific done.
so hammer is easier to handle and can KO faster than the HH
but the hammer can boost teamates and has better exhaust
you have to hit the head to gain KO, and that can be difficult but exhaust comparatively is non existant with how some monsters always rage
between a hammer user who uses lvl2 charges and can get 2 KO a hunt or a hh who gives HGE and attack boosts and super slams alot - yet the monster is actually affected by this- what do you prefer
There is a large difference between monsters in Frontier that you fight normally for gear and fun, and quite another for those pure challenge quests like the double fuck you super-Jho.
Also you'd be surprised with how scrubby the average Japanese player is.
Lots of the monsters they use the flash bomb spam on can be taken down far better with just a little git gud.
Oh yeah, doesn't help that they pick the smaller arena for them as well.
A runner up for most ridiculous quest ever I've found was the double Red Rajang where you can't bring in any items.
They have tag team moves.
Thankfully the only things you get out of them is usually fashion armor or materials to make really good, but not necessarily required, gems.
LBG is for SUPPORT not STATUS. You want as many Recover S as you can carry to help the blademasters stay alive while they frantically jerk off during their level 3 crit draw GS charges.
Don't know if there are any videos.
I just did it once, died instantly when they bro-fisted so hard the arena exploded then abandoned as hard as I could.
Gimme a sec to see if I can find it though.
>dream that I am my own hunter
>somehow I turn into a najarala
>they paint blue stripes on me so I can be recognized
>the marm falls in love with me and won't stop asking questions about how it feels
>can't hunt because no one wants me to get frenzied, though
Kind of a nice dream, to be honest.
>doesn't have hairy boobs fetish
I couldn't actually find that specific one, but then again I'm not the best at moonrune youtube navigation.
Did find this which is always fun to watch that includes Red Rape Ape.
A bit clever using the flash bombs as pseudo smoke bombs though.
Reminds me that I have no good guts set yet too.
I'd say that Dalamadur and Gogmazios are probably not solo-able, at least not when you first fight them. Like the anon above me said, they have so much HP that you could just time out.
I want a certain armour so I need to kill a certain monster efficiently to farm. In doing that I need a weapon I can kill the monster efficiency with and to make THAT weapon I should finish up getting the last part of another weapon to grind parts for the first weapon,.
Am I playing the game wrong if I'm doing that?
I'm just trying to keep my equipment up and diverse because I was focusing on one type too much.
You don't really need to make weapons and armor sets fit precisely for a single monster, most of the time a universal set does the job just fine.
But if you enjoy crafting new stuff, then go for it.
>Well, that depends on your definition
What's the normal kill time when soloing it? If it's like 45 mins then there's no way I'm gud enough, I'll time out.
Also I'm using DBs (Le Shangri-La) with Edgemaster.
I tried once and got immensely frustrated with how annoying it was to knock him down during the end phase. You want to flinch him so his head falls, but you only really have a few places to beat on and they're not the easiest.
Where are you looking, you perv.
Honestly I'm not into all this speedrunning crap, so I can't tell you the average times or anything.
Why are you so bent on soloing it anyway? If you want to kill it fast the more reason to do it in multiplayer.
Just started MHO.
Got to some quest in a little town from a women, after the tutorial shit im guessing, and its telling me to press H and like go to some training thing, which I did.
I did all the training I could for the GS but I dont know how to complete the quest.
This is what it translated too.
What share of the amount of learning required of hunters Naxi Ka 'Pie Dian monsters give Tuan Yee is -'? True '
The said hand weapon. Just Baituomila village craftsmen sell apprentice thunder
Europe, he will forge your weapon commemorative Mindanao Milad village.
Find Milad village forging hearth of the universe Europe, please put Xiaofeng Wu _ he ravioli suitable device
Thanks, that was it.
This tutorial start is kinda tough not knowing anything, and the translations coming out like that.
Whats with people saying use the phone app, I used google translate and OCR and it came out like that, so doesnt the phone app translate like shit as well?
It was just google translate.
It's fine in terms of lag while it's connected, but I think it just drops out like once every half an hour or something, and then I've lost the connection to the session.
I live above a pub, and use their wifi. It's a shit old router as well. My 3DS seems to have a worse connection to it than my laptop, and that's bad enough. I've seriously considered moving because of the internet here.
>I live above a pub, and use their wifi.
You're pathetic, anon.
Why do Hammer and HH still have 'Sharpness'? Wouldn't something like 'Integrity' make more sense?
I realise having to add a different item to 'sharpen' hammers is more effort than it's worth, but still.
>added online faint message
>japs can see it
But I started with Freedom and I don't hate any weapon class. Everyone always hates something that I play, though.
And goodness me, I hope this server load on MHO controls itself soon. It's worse today than it has been through the holidays
As a weeb who just started their MH4U journey, is it true that the one piece gear was subbed out of the game's US release?
I was kinda looking forward to touting chopper around on missions with me...
Nice try Amp, maybe not rage quit next time
>[monster I need] farm is hunting with purpose
>hunting in turns what every player in the room needs isn't
Sorry, kid, but with selfish logic like that you have nothing to catch in this general.
Turns are fun. You get to do some quests that you really want to do, and also get pushed to do those quests that you wouldn't be doing on your own (FUCKING TRIPLE RAJANG AAAAA)
Of course, there is always that one guy who posts his 140 GQ / LVL10 Variant
>a room full of four people all having the same desire, as well as help eachother, is selfish
>a room full of people trying solely to use eachother for their own gains that split off in different directions is somehow not selfish
One room is posting quests everyone there needs and came to do. The other is people posting only what they want as individuals.
Except both types still exist. Turns have been common place for a while because you reach the point where you don't NEED a material, you just want to hunt. People that join turn rooms are also the ones that usually help someone that needs an efficient farm of a material.
Hey quick question.
JUST got the first quest and access to the board.
I accepted some Kill a Velocidrome in 10 minutes.
But when I go to the gate, its asking me to do story missions still.
The board quest won't expire or anything. You have to unlock the Velocidrome hunt by progressing that little story road map until its hunt unlocks at the gate, then the quest is doable by selecting it and the difficulty that the quest marks
Read the fucking OP
that said no one has actually made a server on it yet
I mean I would but I don't see myself being dedicated enough to start a guild, this being my first MH game
yeah, saw that recently from that guy on FB.
Glad even Tencent is on board.
I think MHO could do great in the west with some changes, like the caps, thats too chinese.
Honestly, I know MH isnt really like souls, but it gives a lot of the same feelings the Souls game do when beating that hard fucking boss that wasnt bullshit either.
People love that shit.
He could play with people, he just wouldn't have a guild to join because we lack one. It's a totally different thing.
It also helps that there's no penalty for higher levels joining you for hunts
Lets hunt some whales, lads.
>Dah'ren Mohran episode quest
>Pass - 7243
/mhg/ I've hit a wall. I've just hit caravan 8 in MH4U and I'm having a ridiculous time taking on any of the HR monsters. Even the standard HR Khezu can nearly 100-0 me with certain attacks. My current set is the LR gore/ceanataur set that gives sharpness +1 and fast sharpen. Is it worth it to invest time into making a set that gives sharpness +1 and evasion +2 instead?
Has anyone been playing MH3rd on PPSSPP lately?
I've been trying with a couple friends googling for a dozen little settings and nothing works. We can get 2 people in the same mission just fine but 3rd and 4th always break off. With 4 it seems to place the players in two instances 2 and 2.
All the guides are old as fuck and we even tried using an older version of ppsspp. The problem is that we can't try anything older than 0.9.9.1 because that requires a separate adhoc server and all the links for the software are dead.
Has anyone played it with a new version of ppsspp and with more than two people? What did you do to get it working?
I'm on a quest right now and I ate defense food, but I'm sitting on a defense rating of 163. I don't know if that's good or bad or anything, but I was always under the impression that after LR defense sort of stopped mattering.
>but I'm sitting on a defense rating of 163.
JESUS CHRIST UPGRADE YOUR ARMOR WITH ARMOR SPHERES, you should be on like, 400 to 500 def by now, that's why you're getting oneshot. I can get literally double your def with half upgraded gathering gear.
>but I was always under the impression that after LR defense sort of stopped mattering.
Throw that assumption out of the window right now.
H-holy shit anons I didn't realize it was that bad. I didn't have enough armor sphere +'s to keep upgrading and I sort of just forgot about it after a bit. Thank you guys for leading me down the right path.
Yeah, but don't expect a strong MHO presence here. Only a handful of us even got the game so far, but another good thing is that server has at least a larger concentration of English speaking players than any other. Not that you shouldn't expect runes-a-plenty.
How do you get custom quests to work, anyways?
I'm not talking about stupid bullshit like >>127370971 but like...having a G-Rank Seltas Queen quest that's just 'hunt a Seltas Queen (and Seltas)' and things like that.
I tried reading the thing in the OP but I don't understand it
>No one joins
>get rid of pass
>G1, hr 54, IG user, clown suit, has Auto Guard as active skill, less than 350 defence
The short of it is Dasding made a quest editor, and you should get it. You'd need that Homebrew shit in the OP to even get started exporting your save.
I just kind of used Google Translate's phone app at the few stages that seemed important enough to double check.
This is the hub for MHO.
Has a lot to get started, but sadly its still rough.
I just started MHO today. Tutorial is hard because its very specific random shit. Side quests hard to figure out as well.
Progression/story quests are very linear.
>I was always under the impression that after LR defense sort of stopped mattering.
If you've seen someone say this here, I think what they meant is that they don't choose their armour based on defense. Skills (and to a lesser extent, resistances) become much more important as you move into HR and G rank, so you'd pick a set with the skills you need regardless of its defense. This is largely irrelevant in the endgame, because I think all of the Rare 10 armour has the same defense anyway.
Defense IS still important, like the other anons said, just not that important when making armour. But you do have to keep upgrading it.
That's all I know, but you could quickly check for YouTube vids. Also there was this from that guy on facebook I guess?
Is there a list of all the weapon changes in X? Be it nerfs or buffs.
How can you say MHX is bad when this girl is in it?
Someone please help with this quest.
Its right after the first time you fight a Kut-Ku in MHO.
I need to do SOMETHING for this guy right here in the picture.
Google translate is garbage for this quest.
Its early on, level 9/10
