>Monster Hunter X
Recently announced exploits show promise for delivering ways to play X, though it will take time to develop them.
Browser/Menu/Ironhax are working again with 10.3. It doesn't fix the 1.1 update, but get it if you can.
1.1 update, mandatory for online (fw 9.2 currently required... but that could change)

Capcom themselves are making a "Resident Evil Online" which looks pretty tbqh. Though at this point Tencent might just as well buy Capcom.
Hey Doj, do you mind removing your trip when your making a new thread? Some of us have you filtered like you suggested and it would help us find it. 'Cause you see, if I miss your thread I might be making one and then it's most likely your fault thread warring happens since you're the one using the trip that you advised to filter.
Doj confirmed for a legitimate faggot. Holy shit what a baby.
Wont even make threads without his faggy fucking trip. Why is every tripfag always a legitimate piece of shit?
Like everyone here hates you Doj yet you continue being a piece of shit, you know instead of being less shit.
I do anon, but not when I'm in thread, right? I mean, if he's filtered I won't see him posting a new thread.
Noticed as well. Mods delete me too if you can't delete a tripfag thread that most people have filtered. You can also ban me if you want.
48-6535-2101-8913 - MH4U
Looking to make a pair of 'Torso Up' gloves, come if you're interested in also getting a pair.
Anonymous confirmed for a legitimate faggot. Holy shit what a baby.
Wont even shuty up. Why is every one of you always a legitimate piece of shit?
Like everyone here hates you yet you continue being a piece of shit, you know instead of being less shit.
That meant nothing at all lol.
Doj has proven to be a major whiny faggot, and no one here likes him. Especially when most of a thread is straight out always shitting on him?
Take a fucking hint Doj, people dislike you because you act like a fucking piece of shit, you never outgrew being that kid in class who everyone fucking hated.
Has anyone actually cleared any of the forced double Variant quests solo? What equipment did you use? I'm starting to think I'll need a significant boost in power in order to be able to kill level 8 Arzuros before actually running out of time.
I'll tell you if you post your in game name. Or are you practicing solo play because you already know no one wants to play with you? I hope you get cancer and spend weeks dying alone in a hospital with no visitors you miserable shit stain.
Did you finish every quest?
Have you leveled all variants to level 10?
Did you acquire all awards?
You could also always just play the game for fun.
My ingame name is Doj. And I don't "practice" solo play, I mostly just play solo with rare exceptions. I like hunting with Pixel Eater and that's about it.
Chances are I've saved you with dusts of life in the past.
Seeing how we most likely get MHX in mid 2017, will the new Nintendo handheld thingy be out by then?
>tfw rajang starts his blanka ball attack while your weapon is still out
>tfw you roll-dodge each one
What's your personal pet peeve?
Non-attacks hurting you? Hitboxes that are clearly too large? Monster charges sliding along the invisible barrier at the edge of stages, and hitting you? Bullshit attacks hitting you from off-screen, like Shaggy's mines or Konchu?
>Seeing how we most likely get MHX in mid 2017
>Fighting G-rank Brachydios all day everyday (3U)
>kill times are getting longer, carts are happening more
>I'm so fed up
>gotta play safe
>get punched, sent to next area
>heal up, sharpen, I'm ready
>Brachydios hits me by ramming his horn in the ground right in front of me.
>before I can do anything get blasted away
>don't change area
>as I'm getting up, the second my invicibility ends, Brachydios performs another horn ground slam
Okay no more MH for today
Pointless RNG where there's no need for it, like with Food skills and Advanced quests? Monsters that stay flying for 80% of the fight? Damage sponge monsters with 18000hp, where trying to solo them is potentially a waste of 50 minutes of your time?
Souls games do punish recklessness, but generally do not involve long periods of fighting one thing.
They also have the whole exploration aspect to them that let you cool off. With MH if you hit a wall you've a wall.
>Damage sponge monsters with 18000hp, where trying to solo them is potentially a waste of 50 minutes of your time?
You're just bad and don't know how to fight them, anyone can sub 25 Gog with the correct weapon, excluding optimal skills.
>Food skills and Advanced quests
Not even close to gamebreaking, so you should be able to deal with it.
>Monsters that stay flying for 80% of the fight?
Use flash bombs.
>Damage sponge monsters with 18000hp
Good post, but I'm not a teenager, and well over 20 years old.
>Not even close to gamebreaking, so you should be able to deal with it.
I didn't say it was gamebreaking, it's just completely unnecessary and adds nothing to the game. It's more effort for them to code into the game, and I guarantee not a single person has had their food skill not activate and though "Oh, good, I was hoping for more of a challenge".
>Use flash bombs
Yeah, no shit. Needing to rely on an item to fight a monster in any decent time with some weapons is still shit game design.
I do not enjoy Dalamadur.
So I haven't hunted monsters here in a while.
We got a tripfag that doesn't hunt monsters?
It's not reliance, it's hunting technique, which is what the game is about.
Do you consider the inability to shock trap a Gypceros bad game design as well?
I am hunting monsters right now
There's no need to shock trap Gypceros, you can attack it like anything else on the ground.
If you want to actually hit Azure Rath, and maintain DB's Demon gauge, or get phials for CB, you need flash bombs.
You need a trap in order to capture Gypceros. I don't want to waste a rare spiderweb every time I want to capture a Gypceros, Anon. It's bad game design!
I also should not be forced to use cleansers to avoid certain death whenever I get snowmanned!
Where did I say anything about caring about the materials used for it? You're making pointless comparisons now.
No-one needs to capture a Gypceros anywhere near as often as the Raths are shoved down our throats.
Grinding G-rank Zingores / whatever.
I've gotten one and that was like 2 days after getting the original quest to do one I think. Got to level 25 went to the other town and just bought tokens off of the marketplace to get the talent. I also ended up buying the wrong tokens so I ended up with a not so great talent. Fun times.
This is just your opinion.
I was only stating an example of what would be "bad game design".
Okay, a more frequent example would be sonic bombs versus Diablos. Do you think that's bad game design as well?
I don't hunt with cats unless I'm rerunning completed quests for whatever reason to level them. It takes away from the challenge.
Because that attack has very few frames and can easily be i-framed even without evasion skills.
IIRC, it doesn't hit that far in front of him, more underneath and to the side. Not sure if that's any help, but I know I've tried to dodge it by going underneath him and it doesn't work at all.
>Because that attack has very few frames and can easily be i-framed even without evasion skills.
Not when you're in the middle of an attack because you thought you had an opening but Shagaru said no.
140 Shagaru's slam has a larger AoE around the front and also spawns mines in front of it. So if you happen to be attacking around its front and it does the slam, you might as well abandon.
Then you need to predict a monster if it's prone to showing that behavior. Lack of prediction is how you also get beak fucked by a Garuga.
Black Diablos tends to be, from my experience.
The part where you consider my posts to be ironic shitposting, whereas I consider them regular posts. In fact, you've only been providing off topic posts for the last half hour, meaning you're closer to being a shitposter than I would be, since I do remain on topic.
>Duo'ing Shagaru with friend
>He goes in for big slam
>Friend is dead center
>I'm charging Lv3
>Unleash the swing
>Hit the wingarm before he connects with the ground
>He staggers and trips to the side before actually hitting anything
>Friend goes in for CB burst and then KOs it
Yeah, but if he's aiming for you, you'll initially be right in the centre of where the attack will hit, between his wingarms. It's probably possible, but I've never managed to get out the back in time. Can't really see what I'm doing by that point, being right under him.
If you don't get hit you can get a hit or two on his head though, there's a bit of recovery.
Friendly reminder to accept Fleetflammer into your heart <3
>Then you need to predict a monster
How do you predict a monster that can do 4-5 different attacks from any angle you approach it and can also instantly reorient itself for its attacks during their starting animations?
>since I do remain on topic.
This is the exact opposite of the truth, considering you've derailed the last 3 and a 1/2 threads entirely by refusing to remove your pointless tripcode and completely disrupted the general.
>I'll stop being a carried shitter right after I upgrade this weapon 1 more time
>hey look what I can make now
Stand to Garuga's right (your left).
The instant beak slam always hits to Garuga's left first before going forward.
If you remain on Garuga's right you'll at least have a warning before getting hit.
I personally feel the beak slam was a way to be a dick to players since from what I've seen from the average player, they tend to roll to their right rather than their left when in a position to do either.
So Garuga does it's low startup lag attack and it attacks directly to where people normally dodge if they are in front of it.
At least that's my reasoning behind it, not saying it's a good move or not of course.
By not going hack and slash mode and leaving timegaps between your attack and the monster's potentially early recovery.
Yes he does, but outside of ragemode he spends his time almost exclusively underground.
You don't. But, Garuga always slams left, then right. You hit it with 1, maybe two attacks, then immediately roll to his right. You can not be hit by Garuga this way, as long as you don't get greedy inbetween attacks.
Sorry, but I don't negotiate with terrorists who are the sole instigator of thread derailment by complaining about not liking the fact I have a trip.
I don't think you can be "good" online. It's more or less just very straightforward. The only thing that comes into play that isn't in singleplayer is lifepowder usage. Everything else gets a lot easier, including but not limited to DPS, amount of openings and the high unlikeliness of being combod.
>I don't think you can be "good" online.
I meant based on how good other players seem to be. And also general awareness of what they're doing, not fucking up their attacks, etc.
But yeah, fair enough. 4 players on anything is very easy, most 4-player failures are probably down to 3 people being carted by the same attack.
From my little online experience, 95% of carts are to things you can't triplock like Dalamadur and Gogmazios, or things that can instakill like 140 GQs, so the opportunity of getting combod is completely void as it's more or less an instant combo.
General awareness of what you're doing seems to be more of an experience than skill thing anyway. It should come to everyone at some point.
What would you consider to be your end-game? As in what is your goal before you move onto the next game? For example, mine is to kill each monster in the game at least once before I go to 4U.
Well, take for example a very normal situation where a GS finish the draw swing, then wants to roll to the side.
Either side is open, and there's no indication of danger from either one.
From my experience in that case more players tend to roll to their right on average. Not in any specific meaning, but habit.
From a base standstill though it's more up in the air since you have all direction to roll it.
I failed to mention it was more in a situation where it was a roll cancel now that I look back.
I meant stuff like Teostra's supernova. OHKOs, rather than combos.
I mostly just try to suspend the realisation that I've basically finished the game at this point, otherwise I'll lose all motivation to play it.
If I'm having a bad day with MH, I might start thinking things like "Why am I even making this weapon? To fight monsters I've already fought, and don't like fighting?".
I think I subconsciously think that a whole new set of monsters are going to appear in the game, at some point. The only ones I don't have much experience with are the Fatalis's.
>I'll spout simplistic opinions for hours on end, ridicule anyone who disagrees with me, and generally foster divisiveness, cynicism and a lower level of public dialog!
Yeah you keep right on that, expected nothing less from you.
That as well, and probably get one of each max upgraded weapon, 4U was the only game I actually tried to make armor sets the rest I just rolled with one set and just changed weapons.
My general full goal is to kill every major monster, some things like 140s or other "Super" monsters can be skipped if I'm less than enthused to get to that point.
However if I'm really feeling the game it becomes more and more about self challenges, like learning a new weapon, soloing a hard monster, or completing a crazy set.
Killed a Deviljho for the first time, always heard a great deal many things about this dude since p3rd and I always quit the game before I could even reach him, finally faced this huge ass turd in 4u just now and it feels actually good
I know that feel
It's a good one
How long did it take you?
Replying to, or in any way interacting with, a tripfag makes you just as bad.
He's not any less difficult than in other games.
I find it amazing how shit people are at differentiating their own ability and monster difficulty. You got better; it's not going to be as difficult for you as it was before. That doesn't mean the monster changed.
Jho did see a knock to his max HP after Tri.
I do agree that lots of people tend to get those confused though, especially after people learned that with Jho as long as you stand under him you're pretty much in the clear.
One of this big things about Jho in third gen compared to fourth was his stomp attack that causes a tremor, then him doing anything else during that time.
Well, the range was decreases, he does it less often, and tremor res is also available really early on, as well as being a part of an IG's basic nectar arsenal.
Even if it's your first game, the comparison between the two on paper is very different.
>the range was decreases
No it wasn't.
>he does it less often
No he doesn't.
>tremor res is also available really early on
>as well as being a part of an IG's basic nectar arsenal
No it isn't.
Please try to get at least something right.
>No it wasn't.
Yes, the range was decreased.
>No he doesn't.
Oh, lordy, he hardly ever does it, now.
Sorry, but the game was balanced against his favor this time. That means something.
>No it isn't.
>Damage numbers in MHO when there's intense screenshaking already
guys, what if MHX isn't a thing outside of moonrune land?
He does play well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Miss u bb. Do you still play this game?
No, it gives rock steady, which does not include tremor res.
You should give Japanese speedrunners some of your wisdom, since all of them are wasting a lot of points getting tremor res on their IG sets!
>dat feel when people hype a monster so much you thought fighting them would take 25 mins and above only for them to start limping before the 18th minute
We're trying to get Bombs over Gog done once without much success, but we're open to other suggestions.
>Get to Rathalos with nothing but Velociprey armor and the Defender GS (A shitty dead end of the upgrade tree)
>Try to beat Los
>Repeat for a week
>Doing it again, I'm a husk of a man at this point
>But I'm learning his moves, getting in more hits, just getting that tiny bit better every time
>Finally it happens
>I cut the tail off
>Didn't even know that could fucking happen
>But there the tail is, separated from Los
>I also see Los himself squirming and making that pained noised
>Only one thought races in my mind
IT CAN DIE
As an anon who just recently started his first MH this tale inspires me. I'm gonna destroy these fucking monsters. Thanks anon.
>Only one thought races in my mind
>IT CAN DIE
I remember this feeling when I was fighting Kushala in Freedom 2, lasting the full 50 minutes of the hunt every time without any success of actually repelling the beast. At some point, after hours of having fought it, it happened, and it was an overwhelming sensation to finally get the confirmation of knowing I bested it, if only partially. 10 hours later, I killed it.
Half of the general was banned due to thread wars.
Im starting to get dissapointed in mhx. Around 10 hours in and im HR 4, village rank 4 as well. I heard the endgame was good but I hope the content is more difficult than what im experiencing
Pokemon but the last two times I got a pokemon game I only played it for like three weeks, so probably not that anymore.KI:U was fun but I exhausted it of content years ago. AC:NL was super comfy at first but now I get horrible pangs of anxiety even thinking about it. And Smash, though I mostly play that to kill time when I'm too drunk or don't have enough time to devote to MH.
So basically Zelda and SSB. Maybe if they release another AC for 3ds and it has the option to set zoning laws I'll pick that up, or if the next pokemon game is really good and different somehow, but that ain't gonna happen.
SMT, Pokémon, Smash, Zelda and your usual RPG's
>IT CAN DIE
Reminds me of Alatreon in 3U. I got my shit slapped sideways for a full week. But everytime I lost I became stronger, I'd be able to predict more the attacks and last longer. Eventually I beat it. Proudest moment in my MH experience.
Animal crossing, i'm not even joking i have more than 1000 hours if you combine both games
At one point I was about to say "fuck it" and come back with G-rank armor and fully upgraded weapons. However my stupid pride wouldn't let me, so I got gud until I beat it with HR Ivory Lagia armor and HR Dios Switchaxe. Took me ~30 minutes though and 2 days of the week I spent trying to beat Alatreon were spent looking for a +6 Attack talisman, so I could have Atk Up (L) and Bombardier on the armor while being able to negate Short Sprinter.
4U Jho is one of my favourite fights, apart from its cute little t rex dance where it breathes hot fuck you all over everything. It's not that I don't like the move being tossed in there for flavour but he has a tendency to spam it and it doesn't fit his otherwise fastpaced fight with good hitboxes.
Different anon from the one you quoted.
It's like a model train set. Only the people who own a train set and are into the hobby will get it.
People who play it will be excited to show you
"Look at my house it's so cool!"
But you would just think its boring.
But to the one playing it, it feels like the greatest achievement ever.
I have more hours in Animal Crossing than in Monster Hunter
It was mostly people getting banned because you literally suck some mods cock, went and cried on irc/steam to them because someone made a threat before you.
Still having trouble realizing why everyone but 1 person hates you here, and why you always play solo? You have no other options.
It's a life simulator with a lot of little elements to make it feel comfortable, which is pretty much the best thing a life sim can have. It's a medium through which you can have a cute decorated home and make/wear cute clothes and spend all day fishing or catching butterflies. In theory it's a good way to unwind but it's subtly designed to teach kids about the creeping horror that is the real world where you don't actually have anything more than the illusion of control over anything and the world will fuck you over again and again. I don't understand how anyone can play 1k hours of it without committing sudoku.
it's pretty much the opposite of monster hunter since it isn't challenging at all. you settle in a new town with various neighbors who can move out or in, there's no goals in this game you only have to enjoy the comfy as time go by. everything changes around you depending on the season, moment of the day(bugs/fishes you can get, events in town...) it's kind of like a life simulation wit cute shit all around you.
I don't want to play with other people because they don't live up to my expectations, while Pixel Hunter does.
But mostly I just like to challenge myself with increasingly difficult things, and multiplayer has zero difficulty. Why would I play multiplayer?
>dont live up to my expectations.
You arent good dude, and secondly, thats why you legitmatelly have no friends IRL. If you have to act that way in a game, you are definitely like that irl all the time.
Thats why your only rush for the day is making MH threads and always being in the general.
Whatever you say, Anon.
>you have no friends
Correct, I don't want any, what are you trying to accomplish, though. Your social stigmatization doesn't work outside of Reddit, you know. Try something else.
>you are definitely like that irl all the time
Nope. I'm very relaxed irl and rarely form judgement.
>your only rush for the day is making MH threads
I make the threads because noone else is.
Oh, oops. I'm tired, my bad.
Not really a friend, just mutual acceptance
Why are you lads so obsessed with me, by the way.
But people clear do? You got one that was way more active than used than yours deleted and got people in this one just this monring.
You dont have friends because you cant make any, but you pretend that you dont want any and lie to yourself because it somehow makes it seem easier, but its not.
Nice reddit drop, but if you were even rigth about that, reddit is more like you, that introvert whos like "nah I dont want friends" while you still have those days realizing just how alone you are.
>hunt blazing rath
>he spends 70% of the fight in the air
>and you can do literally nothing about it
Oh yeah, flash bombs in the supply, how useful. Like the ones I brought were useful! Just completely ignores them in the air.
I want to stab the cunt who thought of this.
>You dont have friends because you cant make any, but you pretend that you dont want any and lie to yourself because it somehow makes it seem easier, but its not.
>that introvert whos like "nah I dont want friends" while you still have those days realizing just how alone you are.
Well that hit home, and I'm not even a tripfag.
I'm pretty sure he was projecting and also nonetheless correct. 4chan has a higher than usual concentration of you folk. He might have also been right about reddit having a higher than usual concentration,
I wouldn't know.
I'm an /r9k/ regular, I think it's a bit late for me.
>You wanna know how I got these frog images?
No, someone else made a thread after I made this one because he was mad about me making it, when he had plenty of time to make his own thread.
>but you pretend that you dont want any and lie to yourself because it somehow makes it seem easier, but its not.
This seems like projection. No, I really do not want friends. Some people are simply like that, my friend.
>nice Reddit drop
Thank you, the "hurr u dont have friends" gave it away.
Para weapons are great, and generally there aren't many weapons that will be better than what it upgrades to until you're in g3 and can make some G rank weapons from scratch. No problem sticking with that for a while, and often rarity 9 status weapons are actually fairly solid, usually having high enough affinity/sharpness/slot count to make them comparable to stronger weapons in terms of damage output.
I made lagombi each time I could craft a new set of it and just wore that until g3 kushala when I made that set. Armour isn't really that big of a deal. Lagombi looks good on both males and females and has evade extender which isn't a bad skill to have on most weapons, so you may want to give that a look as well. Alternately anything that gives you ten points of handicraft, you're going to start to want that or razor sharp in G.
>you're going to start to want that or razor sharp in G
yea i know it's a must have now, the thing is i have no idea what other skill is necessary. earplugs? wind resist? fast sharp? i just checked the athena and i'm kind of lost here there's so much cool shit i can build
>dont want people to like me
>Dont want to know people
>dont want people to know me
>attention whores on an anonymous image board with a named Trip so everyone can know who they are.
You are really bad at lying to yourself. Of course its projection, you are like my faggot ass self like 6 years ago, way too familiar.
Some people arent like that.
>Want to do one single quest so I can finish off my armor set in MH4U
>Can't do it because we'd really need 4 people and basically nobody plays any more
Earplugs and wind res are VERY useful quality of life skills, along with tremor res though not that much before g3 causes enough tremors for that to matter. Evasion+1 (or any level, but you don't need more than +1 and people will often look down on you if you have +3 because while there's actually more things you can dodge with it, you can dodge more reliably and it creates more openings to attack with faster weapons, it also means you don't have to be as precise and people feel that makes it a crutch that turns you into a bad player who is reliant on the skill) allows you to dodge roars pretty consistently if you learn the timing, which makes earplugs redundant in all but a few cases (mounting and certain roars like akantor's that last six fucking years and can't be iframed). Perfectly dodging roars feels great too, and evasion helps with more than just roars. Wind res is always useful since almost everything spams windpress, and as far as I know you can't iframe windpress, so by all means take that if you want.
If you don't know what to gem in or what set to pick, attack up, critical eye and weakness exploit are always valuable skills, and fencing/mind's eye has some uses though generally if you're hitting something that isn't apex and bouncing off you're playing badly apart from a few cases like kirin and garuga where some weapons' hitboxes can be really hard not to strike an armoured hitzone with. Note that you should only take WE if you are confident you can consistently hit weak hitzones (45 or more if you're checking kiranico), but on most monsters it's the most cost-effective offencive skill, adding 5-11% damage without much investment. On the other hand if you aren't confident getting WE could be incentive for getting good since it makes weak spots even weaker.
It's not ridiculous. Iframes represent the period during which you are most alert and aware after your reaction time has been triggered, when you can make deft motions in the air to slip past incoming claws, fireballs, etc even if you appear to collide with them. You're just slipping in between the sound waves because your reflexes are that good.
>You're just slipping in between the sound waves because your reflexes are that good
Just got into high rank in MH4U.
What is a good GS path to go for? I can handle armor but all the GS paths seem more important now in HR and to G so I dont wanna be wasteful.
I have the Dios Blade, thinking of going for the Lacierator or Catacylsm though.
>You're just slipping in between the sound waves because your reflexes are that good.
Finally, a reason to post this
>Blazing Rath's default breath attack is the fire burst that Silver Raths has
>Also spits exploding rocks
>try 'All the Rage' (two Furious Rajangs, on Ingle Isle)
>second one appears 5 minutes in, DPS drops completely because constant lightning beams
>jump back in from base camp
>they see me as I fall in
>one is already charging over
>get hit when I land
>the other one fires its lightning beam at me as I'm getting up
>first one starts that punching attack
>cart again, within 5 seconds of entering the area
who designs this shit
WHO THE LOVING FUCK THOUGHT BRACHYDIOS IS A GOOD IDEA?
You guys saw the "trailer" for this?
To be fair it looks like a gimmick based stealthy game with boss fights instead of hunts, but it seems interesting anyway.
I'm back with some more Dragon Bow hunting!
My dual Rajang is 136 with a Rare ready to go.
Come farm this sexy bow.
Pass is the usual
I'm glad Ichinose realized that what we really needed in the series was four different endgame variations of rathalos, with varying levels of massive cuntitude
I'll tell you one thing: Raging Brachydios is the most exciting monster to hunt with solo bow
>Raging Brachy with pubs
>every time the traffic light goes red the bow user somehow magically manages to stop next to it
Some people amaze me
>thread is slow
>guy brings up an interesting topic
>obviously can't compete with MH but looks interesting anyway
Stay classy /mhg/
You know whats more interesting?
Ichinose increasing stagger caps in order to make Blast relevant again.
I HAVE FUCKING LOVED MH4U AND MY FIRST BREAK INTO MH SO FAR.
BUT HOLY FUCK, FUCK CELPHAFAGS OR WHATEVER THOSE SAND FAGS ARE.
Like am I retarded or are the fights involving them just straight up bad? I feel so out of control in that fight, but everything else I have really enjoyed and figured out.
I mean, its not even hard at all, they are easy as fuck, but they never come up, they get REALLY fucking annoying when they get pissed, hitboxes also seem a bit off on some things.
I use GS btw.
I've always thought their legs look completely the wrong shape for something that spends most of its time swimming through the ground. Far too muscular and upright.
Why do other communities acknowledge their games' flaws and imbalances and give less experienced players advice on what to use and what not to use, but the MH community feels this need to maintain an illusion of "everything being viable"?
I'd usually draw the line at MILFs. As a Wyverian she's gotta be over 60 right?
We've got to get /mhg/ back on track. Where the hell have the lewds been?
Anyone play Monster Hunter Explore? I'm trying to access some quests on the second island that appeared after getting the treasure, but it won't let me proceed from the armor set selection screen. I'm the right HR, and I've tried ditching all armor. No luck. I also can't accept the quest to fight the Gobul that the Gigginox armor lady gave me. Any advice?
Because if you're not trying to TA, or minmax, then you can actually use whatever weapon you want. And Hammer gets shit on enough that anyone reading the thread probably knows not to expect amazing things from it.
>tfw no GunHammer, to be completely useless
I agree that /mhg/ often doesn't want to acknowledge the game's flaws though. Complain about some ridiculous bullshit, like food skills not activating or Azure Rath's no-fun-allowed fights, and you get accused of being shit. And Capcom clearly has no idea what makes the game any good, so they don't change the bad things, they just add more things in.
Because sometimes people fall in love with a weapon and feel the need to try and defend it even when it has obviously sib-par kill times. Not that there's a problem with that, as long as the monster is dead before 50 minutes it was technically a successful hunt, but there's a lot of dickwaving that goes on over who's weapon is more rediculously strong.
Good! My attempt at reverse psychology worked!
Did you read the second half of my post, anon. I'm saying that it doesn't matter as long as you eventually kill the monster, but like the anon above me said, it doesn't truly matter unless you're trying to get it done as fast as possible. People like to start shit over literally everything and anything, to the point where sometimes someone can ask for advice on a weapon upgrade path and will recieve replies calling them a shitter or "[weapon]babby".
I appreciate it~
Can't believe I took the bait.
Okay, it's getting late and I know we just started but I'm gonna be a tease and save the rest for tomorrow. G'night /mhg/
Delex is barely in it actually, I'm not sure why they bothered. Presumably in the Dah'ren Mohran fights, and also area 1 of Dunes, but that's it. I probably haven't actually killed any.
>tfw no Deledrome
>no massive crocodile-fish thing, leaping through the ground
Recently I picked up MH4U and I can't decide between lbg and db.
The two things that hold me back playing lbg are the fear of being an easy one shot on g-rank and how well it performs solo.
Anyone got some advice for me?
You don't have to chose, you can use any whenever you want.
If you are new to MH, blademaster weapons are less punishing than gunner weapons.
You need to understand that you shouldn't get hit while playing gunner, so it's better to go gunner against monsters you know well.
Couldn't find any good examples searching 狩猟笛 ストライカー
It flips the moveset on its head, like by making A a triple stab. X actually unsheathes into or performs a Right Swing, then Left Swing. The backward attack is completely removed, leaving just Superpound.
Actually, few things will one shot you in G rank, but still you'll easily get hit for 60~80% with high chance of being comboed to death.
As blademaster, you won't get hurt that much but you can get comboed as well and cart anyway, and it's easier to get hit as blademaster.
>and it's easier to get hit as blademaster.
You say that, but it's not like being critical distance away while using Bow gives you much protection. If the monster decides to attack you, you won't have much more time to react, especially with a monster that like to charge.
Against most monsters you are safe at distance, since you have enough time to react while they face you before charging.
But I can't count the times I got destroyed by a Tigrex charge as gunner
or naked hunting. Bastard is faster than it looks but mostly it's because how wide is it and because it charges several times in a row.
Quite possibly, I was just using that as an example. Gunner weapons in general have a hard time against wide monsters that can close distances quickly, which covers quite a few monsters.
iirc they do but that's just the physical portion of their damage that has an mv of I want to say 4. The actual elemental aspect is unaffected by crit distance. Same with the cutting damage from slicing s.
>getting hit by tama as a gunner
Sorry, when VA work is involved thats drastically different.
MH VA are gibberish anyone can do, even the devs.
It doesnt need to find other language speakers or actors really, instead its nearly pure writing, something that is EXTREMELY cheap since a lot of fans, and iirc even for MHX, have english patches that are up to par with industry levels.
On the other hand, you get overly-verbose names from random internet fanslations(actually limited to lelWikia page names only but still). Dasding's translations are an exception because he manage to work around with the text limit instead of resorting to shit like PCP Rathian
True, but when you could pay them $7 an hour as a company, its a fucking steal.
Im talking strictly business.
MH needs 1 thing to work in the west, English.
Literally no one but super die hard fans give a shit whats being said in the stories/text, honestly, you could just translate the menus/quests and never the other text and sell it just fine.
>Release half-translated game
>Sell the rest of the translation as DLC
Imagine the controversy.
FOR NORTH AMERICAN MHO FAGS.
HOW IS THE LAG?
HOW IS IT HUNTING WITH CHINAMEN? IS IT FINE AS LONG AS I AM FAMILIAR WITH THE MONSTERS(since most are from other games that exist)
IF I SPEAK ENGLISH TO THEM WITH CHINESE SS BAN MY ACCOUNT?
Help me out brobros.
Will I miss tail carves if I start playing hammer and try to
I'm playing db right now and my priority in most cases is to trip then tail then go for weak spot.
This is 4U btw.
Not American but I can answer some of this.
They won't ban your account for anything like that, they actually welcome international players. Even the Chinese players themselves are quite friendly (the public farm is a good place to see this, they'll usually say hello to you the best they can and make light conversation)
Lag isn't too bad but it mostly depends on the server load itself. If you go solo and the server is fine, you won't feel any lag. If you group with randoms you'll get a bit of latency but nothing too bad. If the server decides to murder itself, you'll get several minutes of delay on hunts and black screen cutscenes if there are any. In villages, lag isn't too bad, but it's more obvious than while you're hunting because you have everyone around you.
Hunting is generally fine. You can solo if you want, but on hunts most people just focus on killing the target unless they make some jokes on the way. There isn't much you'd need to communicate for, even less if you are familiar with the monster. Since, most of the time, you'll be getting them through the party finder if you hunt with them, they won't really have the time to tell you to bring a certain element to the hunt. They'll usually do that if you join one of those party listings, though
sounds pretty good.
My problem is, I have only read english reviews that are kinda old, so answer me this.
How bad is China with the microtransactions?
Like, its F2P China MMO. What is the cancer that is obviously plaguing it.
And I have to assume, its almost impossible for non-chinese to pay for a premium account if their is one?(most f2p mmo have one)
Whats the literal buttfucking China does to me as I play MHO?
What? He is not wrong since the titles sell decently enough and skipping the localization of every second real game is just throwing money away. (X can stay in Japan, though)
The only other factor would be releasing MH on non-dead consoles since handhelds just don't work in the west outside of parents getting Pokemon for their kids.
>The only other factor would be releasing MH on non-dead consoles since handhelds just don't work in the west outside of parents getting Pokemon for their kids.
"The only other factor"? It's kind of a huge issue.
And how is that downplaying it in any way when it's brought up as one of the two factors making MH not go big in the west?
If anything I'd downplay meme opinions like "it's 2 hardcore 4 teh west lel!"
Actually, not much. The closest two are the exp cap (this will actually be the one that irks you, but it doesn't stop you from hunting monsters) and the ticket system (this one would actually stop you, if you could have an easy time running out)
The exp cap is a special kind of something because it will generally stop you just short of the level you need to hit to advance to the next chunk of the story. The ticket system is the item you use every time you go on a hunt from the gate. You can hold 30 tickets a day, the main story gives you tickets for every hunt quest so you never run out as a result, and you can claim up to 20 tickets every week. You get 10 tickets every day at the reset, and you can also buy tokens that are turned into tickets from the Special Goods vendor. There are also little pouches that drop right now from hunts every now and then, inside them is usually one token. You can just hold onto them until you finally exhaust all available tickets (including the weekly 20) but honestly I can't even do that so I have 11 tokens in my inventory.
Exp cap reset, free 10 tickets and new daily quests are all at 11 AM PST/2 PM EST/7 PM GMT
Oh, I should just add on that neither the exp cap nor ticket system are bypassed by the cash shop. The cash shop is mostly cosmetic. You can actually get VIP fairly easily as an international player, but you don't need to. All you really get is more daily gifts which aren't all that relevant, either. You wouldn't feel like you're losing out on much if you just went completely free (which is what I do, almost only because I can't justify spending money on a Chinese version when all I'd want is the male story hunter's goggles)
so it sounds like its just a game entirely based off shitty chinese gaming laws.
As an American, if im understanding right, this xp/ticket system is pretty much just a timegate so people dont die playing MHO for 10 days straight for constant grind?
So that doesnt sound too bad, I am not looking for a game I play all the time all day, but more of a daily game, and a game I can go in and daily hunt is great.
Im guessing everything involving progressing is tied to this, even things like GR/HR?
So I can farm unlimited, but I can only progress so much in a day to but it bluntly?
Is the /mhg/bot still around playing 4U?
I've been busy doing normy stuff for the holidays and haven't kept up with anything /mhg/ related.
Please tell me he's still around because I've got lots of 4U shit still to get through.
>this xp/ticket system is pretty much just a timegate so people dont die playing MHO for 10 days straight for constant grind?
>Im guessing everything involving progressing is tied to this, even things like GR/HR?
Yes. It's also a way for them to stretch the content of MH out over the course of a month or two so they can update it with more things. They're doing it Frontier style with the monsters being released piecemeal.
Lag may be "okay," but it can suck when the servers struggle under load.
>So I can farm unlimited
You can farm as long as you have hunting tickets. It takes 1 ticket per hunt. Story missions return your ticket afterwards. You can progress story missions if you don't mind missing out on XP.
Yes, essentially. Progression is mostly in the story and maps you have access to, farm nodes (10, 20 then 40), weapon skills (15, 25 and 35), talents and as a result of the maps, also monsters. You can spend a lot of time doing anything you want in game that you've already unlocked, but that exp cap is pretty strong. At level 40, you stop using levels and change to Hunter Rank but the cap's still pretty strong there.
On the topic of weapon skills and talents, very few truly matter to the point where it would feel that different from the main games. Some are really nice, some are huge improvements over what you'd have without them. Dual Blades, at level 15, get an offensive evade while in Archdemon Mode. It travels slightly further than the normal roll does and deals some damage at the same time. It's still worse than the archdemon slide third and fourth gen titles but unlike in those you don't ever actually need to drop out of archdemon. You only drop out of it if you're hit while in Demon Mode and you only enter Demon Mode when you want to Demon Dance. I use this example because, for Dual Blades at least, that level 15 skill is the most relevant skill you ever actually learn outside of the Ultimate
how the fuck do i get past the "abnormal activities from your ip" screen when trying to sign up for mho?
tried on chrome, ie, with a vpn, nothing works.
i cant get a sms code because i dont have a phone that can do it.
Do I have any excuse to use an armor that isn't Rathalos Body S with Silver Los hands, waist, and feet with a free head slot?
This is how every mixed set has been going for me in MHX, even with negative affinity weapons
It's like HR except it also limits equipment you can craft and you can only gain a set amount of xp per day. It walls off content so you're forced to come back tomorrow instead of grinding everything today.
>It's like HR except it also limits equipment you can craft
Great, just like
Nothing quite as fancy as it looks in Frontier. You jump and do a slight spin with your blades to dodge while in Archdemon Mode, instead of the usual roll you have. It'll do two hits to the monster while iframing the attack (the iframes don't last for the whole animation, so you do still want to time it or dodge in a way where you completely avoid the risk of being hit)
http://2p.com/38135149_1/Monster-Hunter-Online-Translated-Menus-for-English-Players-by-cindyhio.htm for a lot of things. You can also use Aslind Samure's facebook which includes the armour set list and their skills. If the translation isn't in one of those two places it's pretty much the same as a regular Monster Hunter so you'll be fine.
I would recommend using a translate app on a phone every now and then, though. It helps a lot with certain quest requirements
I'll vote for the one that's not DB.
Also, it's always nice to have a gunner to round out a group.
Having someone for head duty, someone for tail duty, an intermediary, and a gunner always makes me feel safer.
Knowledge of the monster is more important when getting better. DB you're constantly trying to stay on the monster with lbg you get a step back and can observe it in a different way
Chinamen are slightly less bad than the french players in mh4u.
Lag is okay but there's serious spikes when the servers are busy, so around midday and late night in china. You'll notice some of the same minor lag effects you normally get in mh games (taking items from chests slowly for example) around 250 ping (which is the best I get usually), but most stuff is clientside so it's totally playable. When it spikes you see the same shit you see with 500 ping in the mainline games, like monsters teleporting you around and the player character taking damage from attacks that never happened.
The gameplay is basically classic mh though, a few monsters like the raths got some (in raths' case much needed) revamps. Only eight weapons atm, there were only 6 before this open beta started but they just added DB and HH with the OBT launch.
Doubt you'll get banned for speaking english, occasionally I see a chink using broken english or with latin characters in their name but I've not used chat at all.
Similar yes, I don't know what's weird about it to you.
The only significant difference is MHO has a (very small) degree of rng. Either that or a sweet spot system similar to Dark Souls 2, but it seems to actually just be a random deviation of about five damage points in either direction, weighted toward the middle, before critical hit calculations and after hitzone calculations. Damage values also seem to be higher than in mainline and in mp you default to matching with 4 player lobbies and monsters have 4x hp instead of 2x, so it's presumably being made with four players in mind rather than two like mainline.
Because we are usually associated with stagger jerks who will spin into someone and stagger lock them into a monster's attack. Or the idiots that just try to Demon Dance as often as possible.
Dual Blades are still one of my favourite weapons throughout the series, but I've never actually mained them in a main title (only in MHO). I totally understand the stigma attached to Dual Blade users thanks to people that hopped on them for Demon Mode (which was the case for MHPTunnel P3rd rooms, 3U and would probably be more of a case in 4U if everyone didn't go Charge Blade and Insect Glaive)
It specifically means of a sexually mature age, not just whatever you find sexy because you're a paedo. You'd be studying adult monsters, not baby monsters. "Young and nubile" are often used together to indicate appeal to ephebophiles (most people), ie being in the sexually mature but not entirely physically mature range (about 15 to 25), or alternately being "barely legal" (13-18, depending where in the world you are).
Is it some kind of cyborg or something?
>TRIES TO DO TAIL FLIP
>STOMACH TOO BIG
>FALLS DOWN STOMACH FIRST
>RATHIAN GOES INTO INDUCED LABOR
>SHE LOOKS IN PAIN SO YOU TRY TO HELP HER
>YOU MANAGE TO DELIVER A PREMATURE BABY RATHALOS
>YOU DECIDE TO STICK AROUND SO SHE WOULDNT RAISE THAT RATHALOS YOURSELF
>YOU DECIDE TO HUNT OTHER RATHALOS TO WEAR IT SKIN
>YOU SPEND THE REST OF YOUR LIFE QUACKING LIKE A RATHALOS
Do you still think that its not gonna quack and lay eggs when me and the boys gang rape the shit out of a rathian and have my midget friend jump into its neck nad have him breathe hevily on its ears as I pierce her with my hydraulic pelvic hip thrusts?
Just finished the second gendrome quest in MHO, but I can't turn in the quest. Why can't I turn it in?
I'm a little confused on how decorations work. Say if I have a decoration that adds 2 to slicing s+, do my slicing s bullets do slightly more damage? Or does it just add 2 points to the "use slicing s" skill, and therefore completely useless?
