I liked the first film but the love triangle should have been better done (soldier basically lost because he was a soldier and violence is bad) and the whole 'learnt to fight at the convent so I'm now a badass!' thing was an irritating cliche.
Loved the visual style and aesthetics.
Have more interest in this than Coco which will be yet another 'mismatched characters go on a road trip and at some point there's an emotionally manipulative scene that's in there just to make you cry'.

His latest project Overlord, which will be a supernatural thriller set in the World War II era on the eve of D-Day written by Billy Ray and Mark Smith and produced by Abrams and Lindsey Weber, will be starring Jovan Adepo (The Leftovers, Fences) and Wyatt Russell (22 Jump Street, Cowboys & Aliens) with Jacob Anderson (Game of Thrones), Pilou Asbæk (Game of Thrones), Dominic Applewhite (The King’s Speech), Iain de Caestecker (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), John Magaro (Carol), Mathilde Ollivier (The Misfortunes of Francois Jane) and Bokeem Woodbine (Fargo). Here is an official description of the film:
>On the eve of D-Day, American paratroopers are dropped behind enemy lines to carry out a mission crucial to the invasion’s success. But as they approach their target, they begin to realize there is more going on in this Nazi-occupied village than a simple military operation. They find themselves fighting against supernatural forces, part of a Nazi experiment.
In a press release from Deadline, it has been confirmed that the film will be released in theaters by Paramount on October 26, 2018. So far, Abrams’ film is the only major release set for next year’s October 26 date with other production companies’ films like The Girl in the Spider’s Web from Sony and Jungle Book: Origins from Warner Bros. releasing the week prior on October 19, 2018. Disney will also be releasing their live-action version of Mulan and Fox will be releasing Dark Phoenix the following weekend on November 2, 2018. So, as of now, it looks like Overlord should be able to win its opening weekend at the box office.

Before the thread starts, just know that cinematography isn't just pretty frames.
The visual narrative is the most important aspect.
Quality cinematography isn't just empty pretty pictures but actually telling the story using visual narrative through framing and composition and the performances.
So the context is important, you can't judge it by a screenshot alone.
There is technically bad cinematography, like too strong obvious night scene lighting or breaking the 180 rule for no reason.
And there is bad cinematography because of the lack of actual substance, empty pretty pictures which only fill the form without actually using framing and composition to propell the visual narrative.
And I think the second one is a bigger problem in today's industry because everyone can learn basic photography and produce balanced pictures, but it takes talent/vision to be able to actually tell the story through the visuals.
