Weekly Challenge (Starting 6/22):
>Build something based off one of Lego's original IPs.
>>6383242
got inspiration from the Ninjago city robot
reposting for those who missed it it
>>6386799
I like that angry look in the third shot. nice
Been working on ed209
also moc skeletor
This little fleet's finished, I think.
Post waifus
>>6386910
Do they count if I made them myself?
>>6386583
the torso is as old as the second Ninjago wave. It also has only one center hole, so it doesn't fit on Lego legs. You can gowever put it on Kre-o legs, but they are slightly higher than Lego's, so there is next to no difference
>>6387046
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>buying non lego plasti brix
>>6386813
Dude.....
That fucking ED209 is METAL.
>>6386948
L-l-lewd....
>>6386785
Does anyone know?
>>6387201
Yes ofcourse you fucking dingdong. Also please stop spamming attentionimages like you're on /v/
>>6387201
Yes.
If you're going to steal Legos, steal them from Walmart. Stop ruining things for the rest of us.
>>6387220
I only bought two parts though, mainly because they're not on the bricklink catwlog yet.
>>6387226
>>6387227
To make things clear,
buying from bricks and pieces is no biggy. Abusing the replacement system meant for broken or missing parts to get more rare parts for free will get noticed because you fuck them over.
>>6387046
You can put jumper on 1x2 brick and put legs on it to get cool fitting torso.
>>6387220
Has anyone actually been caught for doing the return trick at Walmart? There's no way they can be assed to investigate that shit.
No new Ninjago Movie sets?
Also, off topic.I saw TF:TLK and no trailer for TLNM. Oh,TLK sucks! It's the worst one of all of the 4 movies!
>>6387265
We're waiting for the rest of The Last Jedi sets to leak. Every single Ninjago Movie set has been revealed.
I think TLJ sets are the last ones that need to be revealed for this year because we know everything else coming out.
>>6386803
were can you buy this
>>6387268
Directly from LEGO.
>>6387268
China
>>6387267
According to Brickset and other lego information sources....We know of upto 3 confirmed The Last Jedi sets and 5 other semi-confirmed sets (no pictures or set number, but there is some information in pieces about them)...
>The Confirmed Ones
75188 Resistance Bomber (Pilot Poe, Bomber Paige *NEW*, Admiral Holdo *NEW*)
75189 First Order Heavy Assault Walker (Jedi Rey *NEW*, Captain Poe *NEW*, AT-HA Pilot *NEW*)
75190 First Order Star Destroyer (Supreme Leader Snoke *NEW*, BB-9E *NEW*, First Order General *NEW*)
>Semi-Confirmed Ones
Resistance Skimmer (Pilot Finn *NEW*)
Boba Fett (Brickhead)
First Order Special Forces Transporter
Rey vs Kylo Duel Set (name is still pending)
DJ's airspeeder
>>6387302
For the semi-confirmed ones some of those seem like bullshit. Here are the figures we know exist but don't have a place for:
Finn
Rose
And that's it. It's a logical guess that the skimmers on Crait are a set. Do we know a Pilot Finn figure exists?
best figure
>>6387318
More?
>>6387329
Some great parts, and I'm glad Flashback Garmadon made the cut.
>>6387333
Shark Army Waifu #2
Another one I'm glad to see in the CMF wave.
Most pointless for last?
Rate my bank robbers
>>6387334
>that sneaking suit
>comes with a legit mace
10/10
>>6387340
Should I get 10220 or 10252?
>>6387318
>> shortened torso
It took them long enough to invent it. But can regular legs fit in it?
>>6387268
You need to be in a special lego club consisting of the 30 best builders world wide. These people will get an invitation to a special event where half of them are allowed to buy this set. Lego has been historically very hard to get for western nations and this is even worse. I wouldn't get my hopes up...
>>6387459
considering it fits on a neck peg, probably not.
>>6387346
Nice to see the alien headhumpers are back, in sweatervest form!
>>6387487
because the show is trash
So,how much lore does Ninjago have?
What would you like? A Ninjago Cinematic Universe or Bionicle Cinematic Universe?
>>6387508
A Galidor Cinematic Universe
>>6387508
Jack Stone Cinematic Universe or bust.
>>6387353
Jesus Christ, this is the ONLY one in this wave that I'm not going to get at least one of.
Maybe I'll get one, I dunno. But goddamn, TLG is knocking these out of the STRATOSPHERE!
>>6387508
Johnny Thunder Cinematic Universe and Nexo Knights one, maybe classic space too.
#$aveNexoKnights!
#Don'tCancelNexo!
>>6387508
Bionicle!
Interesting set revelation here: http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/the-lego-group-announces-building-sets-based-on-the-lego-ninjago-movie-300478725.html
"Available December 1
garmadon, Garmadon, GARMADON! – fans help Lloyd save hotdog guy and braces girl from the Garmadon Shark Mech, which features two opening cockpits, snapping jaws, posable legs and feet and two spring-loaded shooters. Available exclusively at Toys"R"Us stores nationwide. ($79.99)"
Shark Mech from the trailer?
Also,The Hammerhead shark mech set is movie accurate?
>>6387611
not at fucking all
>>6387617
Were you honestly expecting it to be
A set with a shark ammo belt would be 300-400 dollars easy
>>6387390
>real trees and grass
WHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYY
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Is it "lee-go" or "leh-go"?
>>6387626
lay-go
That's how the commercials say it anyway.
>>6387617
Shame. I want a UCS set of this Mech!
>>6387621
Because they're actually outside.
>>6387611
Do we know if it'll contain any generic shark mooks? The fire mech seems to be priced similarly and comes with 6, so I'd at least expect a goon or two alongside Garmadon, Lloyd and two civilians.
>>6387451
Both are a fucking blast, but they don't scale. I'd vote the big because I loved th eroof accessories
>>6387626
Laygoes, y'all.
>>6387673
Nope,we get some shark baddies in the CMF. And one normal in Juniors set.
Anyway, what are your favorite Ninjago movie sets? Better than the show sets?
>>6387691
Show had a lot of good sets, especially in the pirate and ghost waves, but I like the general aesthetic of movie ones more, also having civilians in a lot of sets is a nice touch. So far my favorites are red mech and modular.
Wonder if Lego's SDCC exclusive this year will be Ninjago related.
>>6387514
They should have swapped in one of the terrified civilians. We didn't need need ninja uniform L-loyd in the CMF wave.
>>6387691
Easy.
1.2012 sankes were the best villains and the most iconic of the series
1. The Ninjago Movie shark army is 1 too because they are great( wish they were sea monsters though-Nexo Knights! Please!)
2.skeletons-the first ones
3.ghosts-loved the colors
4.nindroids-general cryptor stole the show
5.anacondrai warriors
6.vermillion warriors
7.day of departed
8.the stone army
9.sky pirates-boring
How much will this crap(ninjago) continue?
It's like the Bay Transformers films.
>>6387691
Idk,I love the movie sets because they are fresh.
On another order, why did we get snakes again?
Didn't we get enough? Why not,Idk,dragon warriors, demons, shadow warriors(a la Lego Universe). How many snakes they can make?
Anyway, what vermillion set is good to buy?
I want to save more money for the movie.
>>6387710
Would you rather have exciting themes like World Racers, or maybe more epic 80s nostalgia licenses?
>>6387710
we're going back to the long lifespan of themes like back in the day it seems, so I'd give it at least 2-3 more years, maybe more if the movie will be a success
>>6387710
Well,Season 8 is done. They are working on 9 and 10 right now. I think 10 is the finall one and then they will introduce Bioncle G3 reboot which will be a succes and then they will try to reboot Ninjago wich will be only 2 years because it will suck.
>>6386789
Just saw the TNM CMF. Only ones I'm really not feeling are the gay rocker and maybe the different versions of all the ninja, but overall what a 10/10 series.
>>6387730
>Bioncle G3 reboot which will be a succes
>>6387723
Yes. I wish Disney would buy Lego.
>>6387508
>Bionicle Cinematic Universe
Bionicle was literally the first theme to have its own movies.
>>6387742
Theatrical?
>>6387710
I'm sure The Lego Group will take a break from printing money to heed the mewlings of a single overprivileged manchild.
>>6387749
Well, no. B-but it totally had 4 straight to dvd movies! And I've seen the last one shelfwarm to this day! Bionicle isn't dead yet!
>>6387730
Odds are high that after s10 they'll do a second movie. Since bonkle and chima didn't do well enough, UA didn't catch on at all (probably due to boring as fuck good guys), and while NK seems to sell well it's not ready to replace Ninjago, it's probably here to stay for now - or at least until some new similar theme will be similarly succesful, like pirates in the 80s/90s and bonkle in the 2000s were before Ninjago.
I think Lego considers keeping Ninjago afloat to be a good idea at least partially since you can basically sell anything under this label, though. No point in introducing separate themes focusing on mechas or dragons if you can just add some Ninjago figs and sell them under this banner. I don't really mind myself, I just wish there were some more playsets alongside the vehicles and monsters, surely making stuff similar to the D2C temple and now market street on slightly smaller scale wouldn't be too hard?
>>6387508
Bionicle lore was only good before the movies, ninjago lore is too simplistic to care and boils down to "here's the new bad guy"
or "new bad guy resurrects old bad guy and they team up". Since the Ninjago movie seems to have a fun cyberpunk aesthetic, based on this I'd rather have more of this than tribal robots, though.
anyone wants the penguin?
>>6387805
yeah give me pls
>>6387805
How much does this magazine cost, 15 PLN like the Joker one?
>>6387805
Haven't been this disappointed in activity book since Bonkle-one
>>6387822

>>6387827
>80$
Isn't arctic roller like $30?
Post official illegal builds
>mfw the Ninjago movie sets are a mashup of the usual Ninjago stuff and Exo Force
I'd give my left nut for the Ninjago City set or the new Destiny's Bounty. Shit's making my wallet ache.
>>6387831
Holy heresy, Batman.
>>6387830
It is, the face is different in both sets with Penguin, though.
>>6387831
...I don't get it.
>>6387831
Actually, I'm not sure if this is illegal, since it doesn't stress the parts, but it is virtually inseparable.
>>6387848
the propeller plates will just fall off if you tilt it
>>6387849
I recently started on the Parisian restaurant, and the connection between the bars and claw pieces for the "columns" seems way too tight
I had to really jam them together and I'm not sure I could get them apart without pliers
Idk if that's normal or not, I've never had that problem with those pieces before
>>6387851
I don't get it either

I mostly just want that fur stole.
>>6387831
Is there a step after that where you put bushings on the axles?
>>6387831
You don't know what illegal build means.
>>6387831
That's not illegal, it's just unstable
>>6387831
>>6387831
can someone explain how this is illegal?
>>6387617
so who's going to be the first to build a screen accurate one?
>>6387905
Just this part. With the clips attached to the ring, it doesn't fully connect to the saucer.
>>6387905
>can someone explain how this is illegal?
It's not illegal, anon doesn't know what that term means.
Who's hungry?
>>6386789
Can I get a recipe for this anywhere?
>>6387911
um. doesn't it?
>>6387927
Not anywhere, no.
>>6387930
When the clips are hinged down like that, it's gonna push the ring up. Not much, but enough.
Of course, it's easy enough to fix... http://peeron.com/inv/parts/4032 under each ring and BAM.
Anybody here buy brickarms guns?
They updated their pulse rifle, I had to get a couple.
>"you want to see if your wiener fits in my pie??"

Unless you give us proof that happened, I'm calling bullshit.
>>6387982
I know the 2nd movie was shown in some random cinemas, but I don't think the 4th one had that.
>>6387890
oh yeah, i remember that. Pretty stupid design

>>6387849
What the fuck. Why is this piece even designed in a way that makes this possible?
rate my vulture base that's based on nothing in particular
>>6387853
i had this same issue with a pirates of the caribbean set, i believe it was the one with the natives and jack in the bone cage
i was never able to figure out how to separate the pole from the claw piece
>>6388073
Needs a little more functionality, but I like it.
Are those fans on the walls turd-party?
>>6388069
CCBS parts are a lore too deep for human understanding. It's like somebody thought "how can we make Technic parts that don't work well with Technic?"
>>6387853
>I recently started on the Parisian restaurant, and the connection between the bars and claw pieces for the "columns" seems way too tight
>I had to really jam them together and I'm not sure I could get them apart without pliers
Had this happen to me with a bar and another piece in the Metalbeard's Duel set. I couldn't get the two pieces to separate without breaking them, so I called Lego and complained. They sent me two replacement pieces that attached properly.
>>6388083

Don't bother, constraction haters can't be reasoned with
>>6388255
All that proves is that TLG gave us a name for that stuff in 2011. People still use LDRAW names for things, so picking and choosing definitions when it suits you just because somebody insulted your part waifu just serves as a reminder as to why you Aanchirclones were exiled to your own general.
>>6388258
Go back there.
>>6388264
I haven’t touched a bionicle since I was 6 don’t get so touchy.
Another Worlds update, City emergency services.
>>6388073
That's well done. I'm in awe of all your dark green bits.
Here's a skypirate cargo ship. I based it off the memory of leaked pictures of the star wars quadjumper and now that I've actually seen that thing in real life mine is much better.

Yeah it is
I love that technique you've done with the windows and treasure chests!
>>6388411
Hah, forgot to mention I made it out of 2 skysharks and the treasure chest with windows is a holdover from the official model. Thanks tho.
>>6388390
>and now that I've actually seen that thing in real life mine is much better
No it doesn't, the Quadjumper is fuckin rad. Your ship looks like a discount Ronin R.E.X.
>>6388420
oh
still nice though
>>6388423
Shit, I thought I was clever for figuring out how to connect two mudguards like that
Now I gotta look up the instructions and see how that set does it

I like it. Nice touch with the revolver exhaust pipes, and nose chain.
>>6388390

>>6388390
Shit mang. Totally cooler than my cobbled together sky-pirate trash. Oh well, whatever, live and learn, try, get better.
I'll try to actually upload it in a few days. I combined the Salvage MEC with the Sky Shark and raid balloon sets, and got something a little shite... eh.
>>6386813
I was greebling ed when it struck me, i haven't seen an image of the actual model for years, i'd been going from memory and other lego ed209s.
Turns out the back has way more detail than i remember. It's cluttered in this scale, but i think i done good.
>>6388645
Love it. He was my first toy obsession from when I was a kid.
>>6388652
Yeah, me too. ED209 and at-st's.
The pose in your pick is how i want to display mine. It's the top of the stairwell, right?
>>6388671
Yeah I always remembered that part when he's articulating his toes trying to step down
>>6387722
Snakes are very important in Ninjago universe.
>>6388594
That's how this set does it >>6388423
I used a pair of clips. That's how I make most of my hoverklocki, since it's a very space-efficient way of making a 180-degree rotation and gives you some SNOT pieces perpendicular to whatever you're joining together.
Would you think it will be a better idea to purchase small bits of pieces over time for a retired set that costs quite a lot today?
I got these instructions from the dork web. Is this even a real piece???
>>6388722
Investigate cheap available sets that contain most of the required parts via Rebrickable, and source the rest through Bricklink or Bricks & Pieces.
Patience can reap dividends if you're willing to sniff around for the best prices - all this is part of a strategy that's allowed me to run a lean Tegnig collection where I can even build new flagship sets with a visit to BL or BaP.
>>6388731
Third party.
>>6388685
ah, neat solution
>>6388685
Headlight plates are the BEST. tfw they exist in 2 widths so you can do a brick-width reversal too.
>>6388742
What the heck??
Where do I get that?
>>6388755
Yeah I've used both for exactly that reason. I think I used some here but I don't want to take it apart because it was a pain to finagle everything together in the first place.
Glad I have so many Classic Space sets.
>>6387451
get the camper van, it's easily the greatest LEGO set ever made, it's a fun build and a very nice display piece, plus all small details and furniture

it's so fucking laughably autistic. Google "how to buy stocks" and you'll make more money in 2 months than you will in 2 years of buying LEGO... And you wont have a garage full of toys niggers can steal either.
I don't know how some of you do it, but taking a good series of photographs is like an olympian feat for me. After a good 10 hours i only have a rather slim selection of pictures. Atleast i made some modern art of toiletpaper and masking-tape in the process.
Man was super hyped to jump back into Lego again. Not only made a bunch of stuff i want to show you guys, but i'm still recovering from last threads news.
I simply still can't believe Lego is actually releasing a huge multi-level cyberpunk modular just before my birthday.
I've said it before and i'll say it again, in the future we'll look back on this era as a new goldenage of Lego.

Here's a link to the article about it, it's in Polish though, but it's not my problem how you'll be able to read it, you wanted a proof so here it its.

Why do they have to do this? After a kind anon posted a Lego thread on /tg/, i came here to look what you guys are up to, and the first thing i see is this - throwing me in the dilemma of wanting to buy it right away but having to keep up my facade as grown responsible human being.
I've been Lego-addicted before, so i know about the dangers of it.
How do you anons handle your brick-addiction? What are your wives or your relatives thinking about your hobby? How do you explain it?
Help me here, i'm in a pinch

>>6387925
I sure am.

>Gonna need a "Man with Red Pants" poster for the movie theater here.
Aw dang
I will be more than happy to make a poster at that scale/dimensions for anyone who wants it. When the Ninjago typeface is released I might remake the poster using that instead.
And to tell the truth, Ninjago City was a day-zero buy for me until I started noticing all the stickers. I'm probably still going to get it, but damn is that a disappointment.
>>6389407
For a second I thought the left one had a Lego parrot on the shield.
>>6389517

>>6389407
left, for a more detailed suit the darker colours fit better. If the suit was a simpler comic suit I'd go with bright red. Also the skin print on dark red works better

After being delayed a week due to other stuff, I got back to dismantling stuff for cleaning today. Also decided to take a couple pictures of these this time; sorry about the potato-ish quality on these.
>>6389838
This and the last picture were pretty much where I was keeping these until I got to taking them apart. Note that this was taken a couple hours ago; by the time I left it was mostly loose parts on the bottom.

This was pretty much where I was putting the parts of anything I wasn't planning to put back together. Got close to full after the first 2 times, so I had to go out and grab something larger to keep them in (which I didn't even think about getting a picture of). Sorry about the blogpost.

I've been building LEGO for like twenty years and have never pre-sorted parts before building. For all the time it takes it's not really slower to just fish around in one of the bag piles.
>>6389984
Never tempt fate, anon.
>>6389714
It's smaller and objectively worse than the older AT-TEs, but wouldn't be difficult to mod.
>>6389994
I've started laying out parts neatly before building, it's kind of fun. And a good overview of what's in the pile of parts I just got.
>>6390008
I just sort mine by color
So /lg/, what are your favorite colors to work with? Mine are dark azure and sand green.
>>6390090
Dark red, light bley, and dark bley.
Black and white when I'm feeling frisky.
>>6390090
Old dark gray and orange.
>>6390090
Depends on my mood. Grays and oranges for evil space guys, white and blue and gray for good space dudes. Browns and greens and oranges for steampunk stuff.
>>6390090
Sand green is the color of kings
Sorting your bags and pieces before building is fucking homosexual.
Take note of Adam Savage when he sorts and builds, it's not only super fkn cringe worthy, it's as homosexual as it gets.

my friend never had legos growing up. and for some reason, i am dead set on giving him legos for his birthday.
i have no idea what to get him. i tried asking him what he likes and he was like 'video games, rpgs'.
i managed to get from him a few useful things, though.
character customization is a thing he likes, a lot, he mentioned he prefers not playing predefined characters and 'doing his own thing'.
also, he likes fantasy. so, medieval wizards and stuff i guess.
i am generally uninitiated in the way of the brick. i figured you guys would be the best to ask.
what are some recommendations for sets? preferably not something super small
>>6390311
It's going to be more effort than getting a set but lego doesn't have a straight-up fantasy line going at the moment, and besides a more personalized gift is more better
I'd put together an adventuring party, then get a bunch of hair, weapon, equipment etc. pieces so he can swap shit around and customize them to his heart's content. CMF Knight and CMF Rogue are an obvious start, I'm pretty sure there's also a wizard.

>>6390827
How on earth are we supposed to know the reason behind you buying something anon?
>>6387201
Yes and no.
Not sure how their current system works, but it used to be that missing parts orders got reviewed manually (often because the parts selection on the website is missing pieces, or certain selections are just out of stock, so reps have to manually find substitutes, like updated molds or one of the mini bags that contains the piece you need).
They could also see the dollar value of all missing pieces sent to you/your address ever. So, if that number was high, it typically meant they'd review your previous orders and see what the situation was (sometimes a part in the system might say it's worth $10, when it's really a 10 cent piece, or if you had a bad Power Functions part, that'd make your total jump up. And minifigs).
If it seemed like you were abusing then the next step was to request proof of purchase, such as a copy of your receipt.
But it wasn't an automatic thing, unless your account had been flagged by someone paying attention. So, if your order was looked at by someone that wasn't thorough, or cared, then you'd probably get it no problem.
If you CALL to get those parts, instead of use the web system, you could probably distract them/bs your way through it so long as your account wasn't flagged already.
Hey, so I built this little centrifugal pin lock for a box I'm giving a puzzle lover. Any ideas for other simple locks I could incorporate into the box?
I've seen some things where you take a piece off and use it to push in another piece, but I want to avoid disassembly as much as possible.

How do I deal with feeling stupid for buying children toys? Have any of you felt that way?
>>6391054

>>6391063
He also said the same thing about waifus.
>>6389480

>>6391054
Once you start making shit yourself, you can call them sculptures if that makes you feel better.
I mostly moc anyway but there are grand exceptions like 6591 robot command centre, some childhood sets and my palace cinema. Even though that one has been mostly collection dust and having parts cannibalized ever so slightly.
Are you new on /toy/?

>>6391054

>>6391054

>>6391082
Well there are different level to enjoy Lego (and toys in general for some).
Some have a starwars ship in their closet as decoration and a fun "nerdy" novelty.
Others because they apreciate the design of the original material/characters and/or the lego set aproximating it.
Some just love putting bricks together to wind down and relax.
Some have sets around they used to like as nostalgia.
Some use them for display only.
Some do it just for the collecting aspect.
Some rare true OG niggas don't give a fuck and actually enjoy pewpew playing pretend with them.
A lot of them atleast customize the models and/or build custom models, dioramas or even entire landscapes completely by their own design.
Some like making cool photos of said things they build. Posing figures and vehicles around.
Some make elaborate backstories and lore for them.
Some make comics or stories.
Some even do interactive D&D style tabletop games with them.
Feel free to combine any of these and you get the idea.
seconding
>>6391083
Go wild now you have them anyway. You can always part them out and sell them later on. Lots of people do challenges where they make their own alternate model with the parts of just one set, but the more parts the more freedom in doing whatever the fuck you want ofcourse.

>>6390315

But of course every mech needs a mech pilot. I looked around through all my spare torsos and saw the two pink 80s Workout Lady CMF torsos I have. I have been meaning to heresy them to make them plain pink female torsos, but it was a daunting task since there was so much printing to remove directly adjacent to printing I wanted to keep, and just a lot of printing in general to remove.
But I decided that the time was right, so I started in on it, and surprisingly was able to get it just about perfect. I only had one tiny bit left to clean up, so I started back up again, and five seconds later realized that I hadn't put down a guard strip and I had just erased half a boobie.

Actually I was thinking about maybe putting a big blocky grill there with some headlights. Hopefully putting (even more) emphasis on her construction vehicle gimmick. But idk, I'll have to do some experimenting first.

>>6391518
To be fair...the prequels werent all bad with ship designs...just most.
The AT-TE and Republic Gunship are nice (though the cone cannons are silly). I really wish something could prompt a rerelease of the best Prequel ship, and that is the Venator Class Star Destroyer.
>>6391511
It's a great set. Sits nicely with the wing folded up and doesn't take up anymore room than the Tydirium Shuttle does. It's wingspan is comically huge though.
It does have 2 exclusive figures of the only likable characters, so that's a plus in K2S0 and Director Krennic.
>>6391715

>>6391722
Those are really nice too. Capitol Ships are just great in general.
>>6391587
Finally finished this one, been under construction for couple of months, but I barely touched it. Turned out much flimsier than in the upper part I expected - both arms and the back of the cockpit just hold on 8 studs, and this is considerable weight, like half of overall weight or so. But despite the fact you have to hold this flimsy part together with the front while acrticulating arms, it's pretty stable. Need to make some poses later.
>>6391758
Some wired idea come in my mind, to put some laser-like thing with lenses, gain medium and laser pump in right hand, turend out more like schematic representation of laser in lego. it's kinda to big and square, but for now is ok.

And here is where it started, the cocpit build around nexo mech torso. Sometimes it looks like I really OVERDONE the rest of the mech, so I just might to bulid another, bigger cockpit, and make separate mech with this one, but not really sure about it. Oh, and it needs a pilot.
>>6391693
Wow, thats cool! I like how you made poleaxe smaller, really fits.

I could've sworn that things head turned towards me when I was scrolling past the thumbnail.
New Y-wing is down to 50€ or so locally. Should I pick it up?

Did Lego's plastic quality become shit over the years?
>>6391883
Yes. Try not to notice all the molding seams and plastic-reducing cost cutting methods on the new molds. Also try not to notice how many bricks- especially whites and yellows- come discolored brand new.
>>6391857
New Y-Wing is great. Is much bigger than you'd expect and has nice playability. It's so solid as fuck considering the engines are only connected by 2 pegs each.
It's also the only way we probably ever get Admiral Raddus or the big White monster dude...so they'll be a collectors item on the future.
>>6391693
Wow! Looks amazing!
>>6391697
>>6391703
Probably talking about this
Post confessions: I think Chima was a great theme (at least until the final wave)
>>6391929
I liked a lot of the minifigures from Chima. The sets, not so much. I do like the CHI Raider, though. Been meaning to modify the wings on it.
>>6391929
I'm jealous that girl sets are always sweet buildings and that Elves is the best fantasy line. Don't even get me started on how much better the stickers are.
So I'm building the Bike Chase set and how the fuck did this piece ever get made? It seems to have rather poor quality with some visible seams and uneven surface.
>>6391929
I loved Chima. The last wave was just meh for me, not offensively terrible. First year was god-tier. It makes me sad that it's so hated.
>>6391518
lol, this is accurate. I don't know why they didn't just use existing ship designs that were said to have been sued in the Clone Wars like the Z-95 Headhunter (X-wing precursor), or Dreadnaught cruisers (would've been perfect for Republic capital ships).
>>6389296
Aw shit, nigga, that houses looks a e s t h e t i c.
>>6391967
Pick up any standard new 1x1 brick. There will be a very visible seam on one side.
Also, check all your cheese slopes. Some of them are probably already cracking down the middle.
>>6391973
>>6391929
Chima is alright
Some heads are cool (crocs and birds) while some are terrible (lions) but the actual heads have some pretty neat face prints that make great aliens and monsters
The sets themselves are also hit and miss and are usually just "animal head on vehicle". It's really not for adults
>>6391929
I like SW specifically because gray boxes.
>>6391441
no i dont, i bought it on impulse.
i dont want to buy licenshit. halp!
>>6391141
cool griffin, you deserve an ecouraging comment.
New Ninjago Movie thread?
>>6391997
I'm seriously considering buing some starwars sets just becouse I'm low on grey parts.
>>6392016
Wouldn't it be cheaper to just buy grey parts?
>>6392019
Then he'd have to wait on shipping.
>>6392016
Try maybe checking craigslist/letgo/kijiji, there may be some people selling gallon-sized plastic bags full of parts, $10 per pound or so. Usually each bag is "themed" (grays and blacks, colors, technic pieces, etc). Definitely a better deal than buying complete sets, unless there are specific pieces from the sets you want.
>>6392016
I looked at the Assault Carrier just for that reason, ended up going to to bricklink instead.
>>6391518
>>we need an x-wing for the prequels
>>give it 6 wings
So an ?-wing?
>>6392028
yes anon, a square-with-01f7b6-written-inside wing
What's the best way to become a Lego designer? I'm sure there are others here who are at least somewhat interested in becoming one.
I've talked to a few Master Builders (surprisingly a lot were freelancing industrial art/sculpting college grads), read designer interviews, and sat through a few presentations of the set design process. Aside from basic advice like "Build a porfolio to show" or "Work as an intern and climb" there seems to be a lot of different avenues in landing the job. I know some were Mocers before, some were hired based on location, and still others who were hired simply because they worked at lego before. I was wondering if anyone else knew more about the subject. Are there any skills, traits, or qualities that lego looks for when hiring designers?
>>6392029
Sounds like you need a better browser.
>>6392033
my browser supports english, the language of america, and i don't give a fuck whatever hong-kong-phooey weebshit you just typed at me, boy

Brick bricks are love.
Brick bricks are life.

>>6392022
>So who IS Officer Clarke? Name sounds familiar, but only vaguely.
Spaceman's love interest from the first Lego Quest.
>>6392051
ohhhhh right, thanks anon
And I just reread that a while ago.
>>6392052
Oh damn the sides look shit!
>>6391575
So I got bored and gave 7 wide a try. I'd say it was easier than the 5 wide, but you have to have a ton of plates handy. Especially 3 wides.
The shape certainly looks better in this size as well, and I was even able to get functioning doors on it.
SPECIAL DEAL AVAILABLE
ToysRUs is currently selling the 75175 A-Wing Starfighter for $34.95...this is almost $20 less than what people are trying to sell this model for as 3rd party. It's also probably the best minifig of Lando we'll be getting for some time.
The A-Wing is also probably the best version we've ever gotten. Sturdy as fuck, the spring loaded shots are hidden and don't look out of place, has good size, very easy to swoosh around.
>>6392153
Making a megaship out of two ships that don't have matching color schemes? No go. I'd take the Phantom apart though, looks like a chicken nugget and could definitely be made into something better. Keep the Milano intact though, and mod the interior like I did
>>6392160
hmmm... But I have the Azure Angel to help bridge the blue and white though?
>>6392032
Are there any skills, traits, or qualities that lego looks for when hiring designers?
How good are you at sucking cock?
>>6392032
Where are these design presentations?
Personally, the MOC route seems easiest. Maybe get something to 10k votes on ideas?
>>6392191
From the Sariel interview (wich admittedly was more technic specific) they said it was generally not a good idea to specifically try and get a Job at Lego because the teams are so small. But if you do want to have a shot, engineering and design background is the way too go, prolly together.
Don't quote me on this though, the interviews and tour around the billund factory are on youtube. (that walk through the warehouse memory lane with every created set ever was magical and almost brought a tear to my eye.)
>>6392191
>Where are these design presentations?
I assume he's talking about those slideshows that Lego shows from time to time. IIRC Bionicle G2 and NK had few nice ones and I remember at SW celebration they did a good one that focused on Rey's Speeder but also the process of designing SW sets as a whole.
>>6392200
It seems like this is good advice in general. Does lego really want to hire fans whose endgoal is working there, or do they want to hire actual engineers who have other options?
Either way its good advice for YOU to have other options on the table
>>6392032
Brickumentary has a short piece on that topic. If I remember right Lego employees approached Afols whom they had an eye on for some time. It makes sense, since what you post online can be used by Lego as your portfolio.
>>6392205
Like any creative job, its better to hire people that have other interests as well as lego
It gives new perspectives and helps innovations
>>6391929
I don't think the lions look bad.
>>6392138
>$34.95
>$20 less
Meanwhile that piece of shit is only available from S@H here and they charge 65€ for it.
And I only want that fucking Lando.
>>6392138
ToysRUs is also selling the 75158 Rebel Combat Frigate for $76.99, which is WAY more acceptable of a price for this model.
It also has exclusive minifigs in Adult Ahsoka Tano (with the crystal blue lightsabers) and Commander Sato.
ACTUALLY....ToysRUs seem to have a 20% off deal going on SITE WIDE on their LEGO products. Check it out guys...
