So I'm debating taking this museum set and turning it into some kind of Star Wars building. Replacing the diamond banners with Imperial insignia, maybe the clock too, and stationing two Stormtroopers outside the entry with another on the roof with a sniper rifle.

The real question: What do I put -inside-?
>>
>>5380300
Why not a lightsaber? It could be a Jedi temple captured by the Empire or First Order.
>>
>>5380300
Gold microscale star destroyer
>>
>>5380311
Hm... I like that idea. A lightsaber, a holocron... Maybe I'll make a custom Inquisitor to put inside, examining the artifacts...
>>
>>5380317
Yes! Be sure to keep us updated, this could turn out to be great. I'm still trying to hunt down a decent structure to act as a derelict building turned fortress.

posted on a really old thread, guess ill post here. Snagged two Galaxy Commanders, Beta 1 Command Base, and a Intergalactic Command Base. Ended up buying them for about 340 added up.

Is there a reason the shadow troopers' faces are painted like that, instead of being metallic like the rest of the figures? It looks dumb.

Would there be an easy way to remove that paint without damaging the rest?

Not sure sadly, I wish they just did a detailed version of the original black and chrome ones.
>>

Because they lazily used the same paint set that they use for Stormtroopers in white, which includes white paint you don't normally see to function as a base for the other tones, I believe. Which means these Shadow Troopers end up having white blotched on them.

Hey there /LG/
Thought I'd show off my collection and whatnot, feel free to ask questions on the tour.

First off, we have the shitty brick road. A display for fun little events, and a daily reminder that I spent money on the sandman set.

Also hydra vehicles.

Behind it, you can see the Hogwarts express, the hulkbuster, sentinel, rino, and Aquaman's shit shack.

And slightly to the side is the dustcave.

>>
>>5380428
This is shaping up well! I don't know how hard it'd be, but some sort of blast doors rather than the glass ones? Sliding ones perhaps.
>>
Who decides the challenges and winner of said challenges? Does the winner get anything and who decides said winner?
>>
>>5380438
Rebels Stormtroopers, from the battle pack. You can't see them in that shot but inches to the left are another... *Counts* Nine of them.

>>5380443
Hm, blast doors might be tough. But you're right, the glass and the door aren't very Star Wars. Are there any real doors in Star Wars or are they all automatic? I can't remember ever seeing anyone open a door.
>>
>>5380445
>Who decides the challenges and winner of said challenges? Does the winner get anything and who decides said winner?

This month was a little weird. Normally everyone makes suggestions over the course of 2-3 threads and someone compiles them all, then they all get put in a poll and the top 4 get listed in the OP for the next month.

There's no prize except now you have a cool Lego thing.
>>
>>5380428

If they're not mixed with other troopers, it doesn't really stand out. The design bothers me exactly zero, so I bought a couple battle packs to have a decent sized army. I'd like to get two more if I can so that I'll have a nice round 20 of them.
>>

Also, do you think the sniper should remain a standard trooper, or is this a good use for the Shadow Trooper?

Or should all the troopers here be Shadow Troopers, accompanying their commanding Inquisitor?

So, I went to the fleamarket a few days ago and got 4 baggies of assorted used pieces, almost 2 kilos of random lego for really cheap. (about 12-13$ usd for all). It went pretty well because almost everything was in decent shape, just a couple megablocks and minor things. Got plenty of bricks and plates. Sorting was really fun. It came with a few cool items such as minifig parts, some weapons and clear bricks. Don't you guys love when you get a cheap bulk?

I bought 4 small, clear, plastic storage bins of lego. Poked around in three of them. Lots of neat pieces, looked good, totally worth the $$ they were asking for it.

It comes with plenty of useful landscaping pieces, a handful of the good 2x2 jumper tile, as well as a few parts in the rather rare Medium Flesh color.

It's a decent set on its own, being a cozy little fully-enclosed minifig-scale home that is designed with modularity in mind. Fits in nicely with medieval collections, or with any of the outdoorsy City/Creator sets.

The head pieces are designed to be "in System" - meaning that their measurements work well with certain legal part connections.

im curious if anyone else does this, theres obviously no way im the only one

does anyone try to incorporate as many of the extra pieces into their sets as possible, and/or slightly change their sets to make them "look better" to you?
i just picked up some mixels, and a few polybags, and realized i did it for all 4 of them without thinking twice
my rule usually is that if a part isn't used, it goes in an extras bag, and that bag can be used on any set if i need it. usually its grabbing a few studs or 1x1's and using them as filler/hiding them so i can steal a plate to put somewhere else on the build

for the mixels its usually small and just using whats extra. Forx's combover changed directions, and i gave him a tongue in his bucket, and Kram moved all his red trans pieces to his knuckles on his hand
But i realized while building the cowler dragon, that it looked retarded without legs. so i had to make its body bigger to accommodate leg height, and just gave it eyes for shits and giggles (mixel eyes fix everything) Poe's ship polybag, i flipped parts on the engine and wings around backwards, and made the cockpit bigger, and with the extra, made a little stand so it can stay in attack position

i can see three other sets alone on my desk this happened with, and others i probably cant remember on my shelf

tl:dr how many of you go off of instructions while building sets, because you think you can make it better

Does the Nexo Knights Armor fit a Stormtrooper helmet?

>>5381516
I do it with basically every set. Mostly just to make Star Wars sets more screen-accurate but City cars also aren´t always 100% well thought out.
I also like to change pieces in the inner workings of each set. The UCS Slave One has so many wine-red pieces hidden, I just changed them all out with whatever I had the most of. A 1x2 brick becomes a 1x2 wine red plate with 4 1x1 studs in trans-red. It´s tme-consuming but you have much more and better pieces free to use then. The Modular detectives office uses 17 1x1 studs with holes, I changed them all out for normal ones.
>>
>>5381521
It´s in the customer service of lego.com. A few steps below the route for ordering missing pieces from new sets. Brick cost roughly the same as the average on Bricklink, sometimes more, sometimes less. Before christmas they had a bunch of licensed pieces available. People say the parts may disappear or change, it´s apparently very random what they sell and what not. Spider-Mans legs with boots for 2€, entire Hawkman figure without wings, the helmet of the UCS TIE Pilot but not the rest of any TIE Pilot body. Lego removed the option temporarily because the replacement parts program has too many claims after christmas. Some people say it´s back up in 10 days, others say mid February, they don´t have a fixed date.

I ordered licensed parts worth 70€ while it was still open. I hope they don´t restrict it too much with licensed parts when it comes back. Tydirium Shuttle Endor Rebel pants and the olive green torso for 73 cents each was my favorite find, got 13 pants and 7 jackets. Sadly no dark tan vests though. The helmet on the other hand was a rip-off, 2,71€ for a single one. I will just buy some old ones on Bricklink for under 1€ each and paint them dark green or something.

But even without licensed parts the service is quite useful. Theoratically every part of every unlicensed set is available. So if you only want the trans green armor of that 10€ Ultimate Nexo Knight you don´t have to pay 10€ for the full set but only 1€ or whatever the price will be.

Shipping is always 1,80€, the free shipping with 75$ doesn´t apply. You can make it apply by ordering something from the normal legoshop.com though like a Pick a Brick piece for 8 cents or a CMF.
There are also problems with checking out when you want to order more than 35 different lots of pieces, your whole basket may just disappear and you have to search for everything again. Alternatively you can phone customer service.

Actually, no, you're right. MSRP was $90, and there are still some for less. It's odd. Most of the minifigs were in, like, 4 other sets, but Gasgano and Sebulba were unique.

You bought how many of that set? How many other sets have you bought? If you bought up 10+ of that set for 40 and sell them for 75 that's still 350 bucks profit. Are you moving other sets?

Or..... did you just buy 1 set thinking it would be worth more than double it's value one day? Cause if so, the problem isn't lego, it's you.

Ninjago was towards the end a failure, but because of fans brought it back.
Chima was rather successfull with having fans, but failed with characters availability and the gimmick things that was Ninjagos downfall too.

The are over priced like ninjago spinners or chima speedorz.

>>5381932
it might have different, thats why i guessed it.
If i do this on easy brainstorming mode, i would say
Ninjas: mostly male icons, fighting sport, examples ninja turtles -> mostly male, mothers might think its to violent
Chima: futuristic, animals, tribe conflicts, exampeles thundercats, maybe she-ra -> mostly male possible some female buyers (animal figures), mothers might buy it more.
Nexo: knights & princesses, group fights versus monsters/dragons, classic group with female character, examples visionaries, he-man & she-ra -> mixed males and females, mothers will accept to buy it

But its just guessing, dont saw any info on target group
Or are there ads for shops avaible? They might get some infos to stock these series.

There is no argument behind, "Oh there is x number of female characters therefore this line is more for girls", all three of those lines have girls because lego will get fucking shredded by "muh female representation" by people who don't even buy the toys.

Action themes are directed at boys aged 7-12. There is no other shit involved her. Girls are not targeted, they are considered and by all means they can buy sets. Friends is targeted to girls.

Not really, some toys are ok, others are too violently. Ninjas still got the crux of being very aggressive and bloody thx to karate films back in the day.
And if the kids do karate or imitate it, its more spped and parents get frightenmd, something will break or someone gets hurt.
Thats why Kung fu panda is with animals, because softness let the parents think it harmless than with humans in it. Turtles are humans with mutants so a curious parent might not buy them it.

I was watching this Jangbricks video and check this out:
https://youtu.be/q7wPTk-cHYw?t=86

On 1:26min he explains "Squeezee and big ball comes out" and he starts laughing.
My first thought was that he was laughing because the thing he said reminded him about those "ass balls" that you supposed to put into your asshole and then squeeze it so balls come out one after another.

Hmmm...i wonder if Jang tried it himself or just knows it from porn. :^)

>>
>>5382819
Marvel shares merchandising profits with Fox. So, rather than take half (or less) of the money from X-Men Legos, they'd rather take ALL of the money from Avengers Legos.

X-Men movies also tend to be (slightly) more adult than Avengers movies, so it's harder to sell toys for them, since how many of those kids are gonna buy toys for a movie where you see Hugh Jackman's bare ass as he SNIKTS a bunch of mafia goons who don't take kindly to him banging the don's daughter?

Man, Days of Future Past was super good.

>>5382848
>>5382833
These anons are correct, but there's a little more to it than that (I'm probably gonna get some things wrong, so anyone who wants to correct me, please do).

Back in the 90s, Marvel Comics wasn't doing very well. They were still suffering from the Great Comics Crash of '93, and things weren't looking very good. To make some quick bank, they sold off the rights to the movie properties for X-Men and the Fantastic Four. They didn't know it at the time, but comic book movies were about to come back into style. The success of the X-Men and FF movie franchises made the owners of the comic book franchise characters reconsider their hasty decision. Since then, they've been trying to choke the movie-holders into giving them back the movie rights by limiting the merchandising possibilities of the movie franchises whenever possible.

This is why you get a Fantastic Four set based on the comics with comic-printing minifig torsos that comes out right around the time a new FF movie comes out. It's why they put out a Days of Future Past Lego set based on the COMIC version of the DoFP storyline, rather than the movie version that was released the same season.

In the case of Deadpool, the set he came in was based on comic Deadpool (obviously), but a movie version of his minifig is unlikely because of this licensing squabble.

It's okay to sort your bricks by color if you want to. Everything else, sort by type.

this is good. remember to sub-sort by part type when you have the time
>>
>>5382777
Only dark red colors are slightly different but you couldn´t tell unless you want to.
Plastic is much firmer. Of my Iron Men the official Lego ones are the only ones with flimsy feet, don´t hold onto plates at all.
There are slight mould differences. Decool crotches are flat while Lego has them rounded a bit. Sheng Yuan has blockier arms. Also all bootleg legs and torsos have much less plastic on the inside.
Printing is the worst aspect, misprints are common and compared to the figures they try to copy many prints have wrong colors (silver stripes instead of white on a Captain America) or plain wrong (Green Lantern legs the black print is much smaller giving him bigger, green boots). For exact differences look up Digger 318 on youtube he has reviews of most.
And it could be that they changed things, haven´t bought bootlegs for half a year now and they change up their things pretty quickly.

>>5382912
Comics are different from movies. They could have made a comic Deadpool like they did the X-Jet set instead of proper Days of Future Past. But Marvel has formally declared war on Fox in late 2014, I don´t expect anything Fantastic Four or X-Men related at all until they get the rights back which looking at their conditions is probably never.

>>5382917
These people all goof you even worse.
The trick is separating by color, then by categories (normal plates, wedge/round plates, hinges, clips, etc.)
When separating only by color you will have a hard time building something in a color you have very few pieces of.

>>5383007
The turret just has such weird proportions. And I still don´t get the tan plates. I hope they do Hoth battlepacks again next year.
>>
>>5383012
I like the tan as dirt and sand, better than an all white set. I agree with the main gun turret, that support must be made of pretty strong stuff
>>
>>5383012
>When separating only by color you will have a hard time building something in a color you have very few pieces of.

Everything else is sorted by type, but I have my rare colors sorted by color to avoid this problem.

I've purchased two of the Nexo Knight sets, and they're pretty fun sets. I'm probably gonna get the King's Mech when I get paid at the end of the week.

I was gonna grab the Moltor set today, but it was sold out, so I got the Beastmaster Chariot instead.

Did lego make way way WAY to many exo suits or something? There are a TON of them at my lego store discounted.

Modular buildings.
>Be me
>Birthday in a few weeks
>Want to buy self Modular Pet Shop as present
>Look around at prices
>Lego Store (Online), AU$269.99
>Local Toy Store, AU$269.99
>eBay, between AU$300 and AU$700

Now you may be thinking that just because someone wants $700 for it doesn't mean they're going to get it. Wrong. The listing I saw for $700 said "10 Avalible. 5 Sold" or something of that like.

My plan is to put the translucent Nexo armours from the Ultimate sets on the appropriately coloured Galaxy Squad figs.

Is Lucy supposed to be incredibly skinny, then? I always pictured her as reasonably heavy-set because of the minifigure mold but based on that waist she must have tiny proportions.

>>5383522
It's pretty detailed and spiffy imo.

Interesting, that could look really good. You know those armors have that stupid hole in the center, right? pic related.

I love Ultimate Lavaria, like The King's Mech and Clay's Rumble Blade to a degree, but probably won't get them. All other sets are pretty mediocre.

Ultimate Flama w.h.e.n.?

So apparently, I can't share my Nexo Powers, because the goddamn "Share with a Friend" QR code expires. That's pretty ingenious and annoying at the same time.

I'm now testing if it's immediate expiration once I close the app, or if it's a timed thing.

My current plan is to have this as one of the buildings in my upcoming battle display. It will essentially be the rebel's "goal" in the battle, I'm thinking.

I'm going to use custom stickers to add details to things, including graffiti and propaganda posters, and likely some battle scarring. I was considering putting a portrait of Yoda in the Temple there with lightsaber cuts defacing it.
>>
>>5383619
How will we know it's yoda if he has no face?
>>
>>5383567
Yeah, I was going to see how it looked, and if it didn't work I'd change the torso around I guess. I mainly just want Ultimate Galaxy Squad.

That looks like a jumbled up mess. Seriously, just look at some photos of the Delorean from the movie and you can tell yours has all kinds of unnecessary stuff on it.

Can't be bothered looking it up and I don't know off the top of my head which version you're trying to emulate but the DeLorean did progressively get more useless junk on it throughout the series.

That attraction caused so many shit pants they changed it to something based on Lilo and Stitch and apparently it's still horrifying. There's even a warning not to bring little kids into it, now.

Sort by type, then sub- sort color by stacking/connectioning when possible..some say leaving lego connected is not good for the pieces, I usually dont leave them stacked for too long, it ls good for organizing and sorting schemes.

It's because, in murka, a brand can lose its trademark if the term becomes common use. This happened to Band-Aid and Kleenex iirc.
