they're a europa league team. they switched roles with spurs. their recruitment strategy is an absolute joke. the team has no identity. they hoof it to ibra and pray. they spent way too much on pogba, they play too many kids up top. rooney hasn't been good for years. they're lucky they have a good manager and their defense is somewhat decent.

Rather than burdening players with an additional 30 minutes of action when cup games are level after 90 minutes, Van Basten is suggesting going straight to penalties.

"I think everybody is pretty tired after 120 minutes," Van Basten said.

Now penalties are a test of nerves with players having one chance to beat the goalkeeper from the penalty spot.

"Maybe the player should start 25 meters from goal and then you can dribble the goalkeeper or shoot early," he said. "But you have to make a goal within eight seconds. It's more skill and less luck. It's maybe a bit more spectacular. It's more football but it's still nervous for the player."

NO OFFSIDE

Scrapping the offside rule could make soccer more visually appealing, Van Basten advises.

"I think it can be very interesting watching a game without offside," he said. "Football now is already looking a lot like handball with nine or ten defenders in front of the goal. It's difficult for the opposition to score a goal as it's very difficult to create something in the small pieces of space they give you.

"So if you play without offside you get more possibilities to score a goal."

Sadly, I also fear this. If Federer would have had to play the qf, sf and finals in consecutive days, I'd give Nadal the physical edge. But even when Federer goes to 3 or 5 sets in successive matches he isnt wasting nearly as much energy as Nadal does for the same results. Rafa has to grind out far more points, even on his own serve games, as that's his playstyle; unlike Federer who always tries to play short points and hit a winner as soon as the opportunity rises, plus, he has his serve that grants him a lot of points with the least amount of effort possible and is always something he can back on when he is not having a good day.

I believe, that, if Nadal doesnt have a fs percentage close to 75% today, he will have it extremely hard against this version of Federer.
